I just use Windows Explorer.

I select the files I want to back up, right click and hold over them all, drag them to my external drive and choose "Copy Here". When it's finished, I unplug the external :)

Windows Explorer is my choice :)

StorageCraft ShadowProtect is the best and I've tried a bunch of those listed.

I'd bet that people only think they have good backup software until the try to do an actual restore. That is when they fail. ShadowProtect rules but does not work with Win7 as of yet.

I think there should be 2 categories. Because when someone reccommends a good backup programme like syncback - i dont know if they mean for backing up some files or whether its also good for backing up the whole system or a harddisk partition.

Myself i am looking for advice on what is a good programme to back up a partition. So that i can install windows and then back up the whole thing.

Microsoft's SyncToy works quite well enough for me .. although it's not specifically a backup tool!

I also use SyncToy as a backup tool too, in fact, I developed a companion tool to it to automatically

sync-up pairs on an interval. More info here: Synctoy Agent

I didn't want to make a new topic so I figured I'd ask here.

What backup software (free) could I use to backup folders to my external hard drive automatically, like it runs and backs up the folder every so often, like maybe sync it up two or three times a day. Anything?
