Anyone want a QUAKE LIVE invite?

Recommended Posts

well if someone has a spare one PM it to me, if not no biggie.

i do have an older windows laptop and i actually think i am going to finally do bootcamp on my mac sometime in the next week, this is as good enough reason as ever to finally get motivated to do that

I can CONFIRM that it works on windows 7, but it does disable Aero and even after closing the Tab, Aero is still disabled. This is with Firefox 3.1b1.

Does this in Vista 64x too. :(

At least the latest patch fixed the fact it wouldn't work in firefox for me.

Also: No OSX version yet kiddos. :(

any invites available?! been wanting an invite for ages.. man i miss Rocket Arena 3 days

Even if one of us lucky ones who got into the beta tossed you an invite you'd still be missing RA-3. As for why, I cannot tell you .. NDA restrictions, but I'll just leave you with that.

Does anyone here see the point in making this as complex as it seems (browser plug-ins and whatnot) instead of just releasing the binary with the ad system built-in?

I thought the point of running it inside a browser would be about portability and cross platform gaming, now I'm like wtf?

It's simpler in that you don't necessarily have to INSTALL it onto the computer, as well as deal with manually updating and such. Since it's all in the browser, you can just log on to check your stats, send someone a message, etc. without ever having to launch the game and if you get 5mins of dead time, you can hop right in with ease.

Plus, I'm sure it gets around all sorts of policies regarding installation of programs in a working environment ;)

I too have three left again. Similar criteria as above, PM with Full Name, Email and skill level. I will just ask that you have at least 100 posts though in order to stop people signing up just to get an invite.

Can I just re-iterate what I mentioned above, can you only please PM me if you have at least 100 posts, i have had a few requests from people signing up :(

I know it may sound unfair, but I want to give members who have made at least a small contribution to the community. Thanks

Apologies, I couldn't edit my previous post.

Thanks dave, I got my invitation email on Wednesday (14th), and the code works :)

I'm almost at my internet limit (it resets on Monday night), so I don't want to install QL just yet :p

Oh yeah, my QL username is redeemed. Maybe Kushan could add the QL names of the different members to the original post in alphabetical order, like so:

[Neowin username] - [QL username]

:)

    • Looks like the 7.1 is fake effects, can it at least do real 5.1? It says 'virtual 7.1' in all descriptions.
    • You can't, if you didn't notice, it doesn't support surround at all, it's right in the spec list.
    • Hi — I’m always interested in soundcards. Like displays, I just want to know I’m getting as much clean “sonic juice” into my brain as possible as the years take their toll. I’m not entirely sure what to take away from this review, though. It doesn’t really tell me whether the AE‑X is a good product or who it’s actually for. Most of what I’m getting is: there’s a driver to install, here’s what it looks like, and here’s what’s in the box. There’s a lot of emphasis on the SPDIF input. When you mention not needing to switch headphones between console and PC — does that mean the PC has to be powered on just to pass audio through? That seems like a fairly big waste of energy. Is this more something a streamer would use alongside a capture card? How are you testing the sound? (Also, you might want to clarify that you’re using the headphones in wired mode when you mention they’re wireless.) You mention the lack of EMI shielding — how much real‑world difference does that make compared with typical motherboard audio? On multi‑channel: what exactly isn’t supported? Does this mean Windows spatial audio (Dolby Atmos for Headphones, DTS Headphone:X, etc.) won’t work, or just that the card itself doesn’t decode surround formats? And are there any true multi‑driver “surround” headphones left that would even use that? You also highlight support for high‑impedance headphones — but what does that translate to in practice? How does it compare to driving the same headphones from a normal device, and does it make any difference for everyday, lower‑impedance models? In short, who is this card actually targeted at?
    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?
    • Just saw a news report of a Waymo driving into a flooded road.
