Hi my sisters comp is acting up. First, explorer is very slow, control panel is as well. I cannot even open the device manager , it just doesn't respond. The reason I was even found anything with her computer was that her printer doesn't work and I wanted to uninstall her current driver.

What is weird is I tried downloading superantispyware but it doesn't respond either. And a norton security scan mysteriously downloaded ITSELF! Is this some Trojan or something? Every thing that has to do with windows is VERY slow. Even IE. Help!

Sounds like a virus alright. Try this http://dnl-eu10.kaspersky-labs.com/devbuilds/RescueDisk/ this is a bootable CD image with Kaspersky Anti-Virus on it. Also look at the task manager (if possible) see if anything looks out of place. If you are not able to get to the task manager, try downloading Procmon http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/ProcessMonitor.zip

Another thing, there is no such thing as A Norton Security Scan, there is a Norton Anti Virus, and a Norton Security Suite, see here for more info http://www.norton-online.com/us/store/?gcl...CFQJvswod1HZYDg

That is very weird...it specifically says Norton Security Scan...

Well I rebooted her computer and it seems to be a little faster, and I uninstalled the Norton Security Scan. My suspicion is that it will be coming back soon....

The longer the computer is on, the weirder the computer acts! I was able to finally get superantispyware to work and I told her to call me once the scan is done! hope it finds it! thanks for the help and info I really don't want to do a complete reinstall....she would lose everything (who knows where the trojan is on the hdd...)
