Hi all,

I ran into a few other people having the problem via google here, and was wondering if any people here have run into the same problem. When I tried sticking the DVD in my wife's computer the setup menu showed up pretty promptly, but on my PC it seems to take upwards of 5 minutes. I will not be installing it on her PC, but on mine when setup gets to "Unpacking Files" it crashes out.

I have a SATA HDD and a Bluetooth keyboard, other than that any other devices (External HDD, Printer, etc) are all unplugged to try to make the installation go as smooth as possible.

Anyone else having any hiccups trying to get this beast installed?

How would I go about doing that?

I guess it just seems funny that the setup menu appears so speadily on her computer (Old AMD 3200+) while mine takes upwards of 5 minutes just to hit the Install button (Core 2 E6850 w/ 4GB Ram)

And would someone be able to post what the hash is supposed to be, for the 64 bit version.

agree, I had the same problem and only by getting another img I managed to pass this unpacking stage.

tried burning it into good (verbatim) and average (maxell) discs and both got stuck at 33% unpacking.

then re-downloaded another img and worked like a charm, try downloading another build (repacked)

have you checked hash of iso before recording it ? it could be corrupted

Alright I'm redownloading it this time with Flashget, hopefully it will keep the file integrity.

Here's to hoping. :(

Ursus did you re-download the same image file from the same location?

Or did you switch it up? (Ie Downloaded 64 bit first, didnt work, downloaded 32bit)

Nimec, honestly, I could not wait... both imgs were obtained prior to official release by M$.

I got both from different scene teams... The second/working img I used was the one where nfo stated "You shouldn't create a release at 4am!" :D

it is Microsoft.Windows.7.Beta.1.Build.7000.x86.DVD.REPACK-WinBeta

I just tried re-burning the ISO with a different kind of DVD+R (Used a no name DVD-R before) and it still hangs at unpacking files.

Either the file I have is corrupt, or it doesn't like something with my hardware. (Albeit I am using Vista 32-bit home premium right now, and it installed without a hitch)

did you made a photo of screen :) cause print-screen won't work!!! nice work! I had exactly the same message... afterwards HD works hard for sec or two (deleting temp files) and afterwards I had to hard-reset.

Here's the error I am getting at unpacking files.

Other times, when it does not give this error, it simply resorts to a BSOD.

Good luck! Hope it does work! Plz post the results for folks... With re to your question/pic with burning img, I haven't had problems with image, Nero's verification showed that the volume was flawless as was the burned project... however due to problems with the scene ripped it there was some problems, my NEC drive (not the best) spinning went down (quiet) ... like corrupted/bad sector disc... but 2 different media behaved similarly until I redownloaded another repacked img.

Well burning the 2nd downloaded ISO now. Hope it works!

It errored out again. Sigh.

Guess I won't be participating in this one, as I have no idea what is wrong with it.

For those wondering.

My system is:

Core 2 E6850 3.0GHz

4 GB Mushkin DDR2

8800GTS 320MB

Asus P5B Motherboard

I'm giving up on this and going back to Vista, I hope sometime people will solve the problem and I'll be able to try it later down the road.

I've burned 4 different copies, all at the slowest speed on 2 different computers with 2 seperate downloaded ISO's, and all of them get stuck on unpacking files. (I even switched out my DVD-Rom with another one just incase it was working incorrectly)

I have the same problem and motherboard (P5B Deluxe Wifi/AP) with 4GB DDR2. I think the problem lies with the motherboard, specifically the Jmicron chipset. IIRC I had similar issues installing Vista when it came out.

    • Nah. For every indie dev that needs to create code for "stuff" or textures, it's a godsend enabler to possibly tackle a project that you may not otherwise. The end result and testing will tell the truth if everything works or doesn't, or a game is just mediocre slop, but now these tools are now there and it's the developer's duty to judge the outcome, and even more so for pro studios. And you gotta remember that they will be at an early stage.
    • whoosh my comment went over your head. Enjoy your notchless 3:2 OLED device
    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.
