CD-Text Manager updated to v1.01

Recommended Posts

I have today updated CD-Text Manager to version 1.01!

Below is a list of the main fixes:

  • Fixed the problem some users of Windows XP had, related to XP styles support.
  • Fixed a problem that prevented CD Drive list from loading, if users did not reboot after setup.
  • Added support for CD/DVD drives that require non-standard commands/handling.

If you are using an older version of CD-Text Manager, please upgrade rightaway.

However, if you have not yet tried this software, then there has never been a better time to do so.

Please visit http://www.cybcity.com/cdtext for download instructions and further information!

Furthermore, don't forget to email me at [email protected], if you require support or would like your favorite Audio CD software supported.

What is CD-Text Manager?

This program basically extracts the CD-Text from a CD in any drive on your computer. First, it displays the information on-screen. Then (if the user wishes) exports this information to all or selected third-party applications installed on the user's system. This will then allow CD-Text to be displayed from that application. And, if you don't know whether your drive(s) supports CD-Text, then this program will tell you. CD-Text Manager works with Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP. Oh, and it's 100% FREE (no adware, spyware, etc.)!

What is CD-Text?

CD-Text is a technology developed by Sony Corporation and Philips Electronics in 1996 that allows storing information about an audio CD and its tracks (such as artist name, album, or song name) directly on the disk. Currently, many commercially available audio CDs contain CD-Text information. If CD Text is written to a CD, there is no need to query Internet databases for artist names or track lists. This information is provided fast as it's direct from the disk. No typos or misspelled names; the information comes directly from the publisher. Also, many of today's CD-burning software (Roxio EZCD, Nero, etc.) can write CD-Text to your own compilations.

can i now burn my MP3 to and Audio CD and name the tracks???

You can burn your mp3s (or any other music file, that your burning software supports) to Audio CD and the written CD-Text can then be extracted by CD-Text Manager.

Just make sure that your drive and burning software supports CD-Text. Recommended burning software is Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 or higher (www.roxio.com), or the latest version of Nero Burning ROM (www.nero.com).

Refer to your burning software's enclosed help to know how to add CD-Text to your discs.

Furthermore, CD-Text Manager can tell you if your drive(s) support CD-Text. Simply see the checkbox marked 'Device supports reading CD-Text', on the main screen. Your burning software should also be able to tell you.

I have installed CD Text Manager, but it doesnt detect any cds i have inserted in to either my Pioneer A05 or my LG DRD8160B DVD Drives. any suggestions. Im running Windows XP Pro SP1.

Firstly, check that your drive supports CD-Text (the checkbox on the main screen should be checked/ticked).

Then, check that the CD drive list has all the CD/DVD drives, available to your system, listed. Select the one that has the disc with CD-Text, inserted. CD-Text found will be displaying on-screen, instantly.

If the main list at the bottom of the primary window is empty, then this means that your disc has no CD-Text on it. However, if you are sure that CD-Text is on the current disc then please email me at [email protected] and I'll try to help further.

TIP: When you change discs remember to click the refresh button, as this software doesn't auto-refresh (to stop it freezing some computers).

EDIT: I have just checked the models you posted. Your Pioneer DVR-A05 can read & write CD-TEXT and your LG DRD-8160B should happily read it.

I would like to take this moment to announce that CD-Text Manager is today live on http://www.wmplugins.com!!

Despite this, I am currently looking for extra features to add to the next version of CD-Text Manager (Expected release is early May 2003).

If you have a top idea, then email me at [email protected], and I'll work on adding it!!

Thank you, Neowin.net for helping to support and publicise my software.
