and you are how old?

Still in middle school :p

Everyone assumes I'm older for some reason.

Anyway, newest release was sent to testers last night. Minor bugfixes and some changes to dialogs. I've found more time to work on it, too so expect some of those highly awaited incomplete features to be done soon (:

I'm also adding Neowin to the credits, as I'm hoping to get Vistyle a subforum. (PMed Neobond about it)

Vistyle - Apha

Vistyle is a 100% free Vista Visual Style and Theme File Creator/Editor.

It currently does, or soon will, allow the following features and more:

* Import Vista Msstyle

* Import WB Style

* Import XP Style

* Export Vista Msstyle

* Graphical and easy interface for making msstyles for Vista

* Create theme files easily with a gui

* Automatically converts images made in photoshop to the correct alpha format

* Once Windows 7 is out, support will be added (shouldn't require much changing)

* Other stuff I probably forgot

New Video:

It can now import vista styles yet, or use pre-ripped images from the Aero theme. Anyone with suggestions for features not listed above please post. It can now extract stream and Normal Variant when importing!

I have enough testers now, thanks guys.

Hi, may I know when will the software be released? (I saw in youtube that is should be in march, but it is almost april...)

Ok so lots of big changes. I've kept it under wraps but, its been re-made from scratch. It's been renamed Winstyle as well, to avoid confusion. I'll redo the first post soon to show the new Winstyle, And yes, its still not at 'public release' stage because it was restarted.

Expect more info in first post soon...

Also, to the question about the date, it's been pushed back because I lost a good chunk of time making the original, as it is being rewritten.

I realized I didn't show exporting a theme to .msstyles so...

Sorry to be tormenting you with videos, the new Beta is almost ready for the public.

Ignore the XP-style buttons, its a custom theme mod I did because I like the XP buttons, nothing to do with Winstyle.

I was thinking about adding a ribbon... heres a example screenshot

post-248102-1240375806.png

But your the users, and the ones who would need to wait, so do you think adding 2-4 days to the development is worth it to add ribbon?

(if I don't add the ribbon, the menus and toolbars will be customizable at runtime, like office)

    • Microsoft is busy. Lots of changes to be released imminently for Windows server or soon. Also, lots happening for next version as well. Third party virus scanning software is being moved out of Kernel mode to avoid repeat of Crowdstrike incident. Windows Protected Mode and Windows Ready Print no longer require third party print drivers to be installed. New storage stack being developed. New NVME drivers now available for Windows Server 2025 to improve local NVME drive performance by 60+ percent. NVME-Of of fabric being worked on for next release to improve network access to NVME drives. ReFs (next file system) now has ability to boot and will become default file system in next release of Windows Server. ReFs improves on NTFS in several areas including resiliency and reliability and scalability. New update stack is being worked on to unify Windows updates, and updates for drivers and first party/3rd party application software. A stricter and more robust third-party driver certification program (ODI) is being worked on to improve performance, thermals, battery life, and reliability on modern Windows hardware by tightening how OEMs and IHVs (Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, etc.) build and ship drivers. There is a tone more but too numerous to mention.
    • Now disable that stupid OneDrive backup request when Windows starts please. So unbelievably frustrating to only have “remind me later” instead of “no and never ask me again”
    • Hello, The Media Creation Tool is still at v10.0.26100.7019 from October 2025. Just looks like the backend has been updated. Regards, Aryeh Goretsky
    • Since they open sourced the calculator in Win 10/11 it is much better and can do a lot, I love it.
    • That's just silly imo. The lengths that man goes to just to avoid W11 is just nuts. Very, very few home users would do that. I will say this though, he is committed. Btw, I note on askwoody that Woody Leonhard passed away March, 2025 aged 73. His site was one of my favorites back in the day. Belated yes but RIP Woody.
