[Official] Killzone 2

Recommended Posts

Played a couple more games, I'm now ranked Major. With that I unlocked Tactician and they can use spawn grenades. Basically smoke grenades that let team mates spawn at that point. Pretty handy (Y)

<snipped>

Awesome to hear, I gotta start playing matches with you more if you do use the Tactician badge a lot.

There have been so many matches I've played where I had to run across the map just go kill the enemy.

Since no one had spawn grenades.

Damn, the Battle Replay on the killzone website is really damn cool.

In fact the whole damn site is impressive.

I have to say, it is a little discouraging that DM is already half way through ranking up if I am reading what he said correctly, as that seems really quick to me and I like incentive to keep playing a MP game. I have to say my first impression of playing is one of intrigue. I was not completely sold, but I definitely enjoyed myself and had fun, and see the potential for us all having fun playing together, so I think strictly based on that fact it will have a long life span, but again does seem very quick to fully rank up.

Yeah its stupidly fast/easy :(

Once you've unlocked the classes it's all about the ribbons/medals. I don't think there is any further unlocks (in terms of weapons) once you've got all the classes. That is what is most disappointing, especially when the standard rifle is the best one (at least imo). The other sub-machine guns control like ass and I'm not a fan of shotguns (n00b weapon). I only need 3 more weapons for the rifle man iirc.

So I'm with Antaris and hope they expand the ranking system.

I actually haven't played MP yet. Did get an hour of SP done though. I'll be online tonight if you guys are playing. Although the down side is that I don't have a headset. :s ..

I might be playing 2nite.......drop me a line if I'm on

I just got the game and will be ready to go in about 40 - 50 mins if anybody is around still. If not ill do a bit of solo multiplayer to get the feel of it till tomorrow when I can hopefully join you guys.

Tonight I will be without a mic but I will have one for tomorrow.

PSN account is Green_Eye_09

Munky add me as soon as possible please dude cos I cannot be arsed to go through this whole thread just

Oh, BTW man, congrats on the purchase. (Y)

And also since we are not friends yet, add me, DLDirtyLarry, as I can also send invites to people for the clan.

I played an hour of MP and haven't yet gotten used to the feel of the controls. I still came in first on my team however, although that's not saying much as my team sucked. Haven't won a match yet. My K/D is just under 1.00, though the very first game I really stunk. I hate how you start off with a crap weapon and no ammo.

^ hopes you get the game tomorrow because its amazing.

Ive played the first killzone and I knew when they made a 2nd killzone, I was going to be amazed but today i was overly amazed.

I checked out a copy and bought it over to a friends house and we played SP and MP, OMG, I love this game. I am getting a PS3 just for this game most likely by the impression it left on me. Also a blu ray player would be nice :).

Tried out MP last night. Really enjoyed it. I wish there were medics so they could revive me while i was down :p

However, there was one annoying thing with the interface where it would take 3 seconds or so to even update after i had pressed a button. Anyone else get this?

I won't be on much next week either - I have my last real exam on friday, so I gotta study for it... the fact that I haven't really paid attention in class somewhat contributes to that :p So I'll probably be online in the (CET-)evening for a couple of days - hopefully with some more gaming next weekend and the weeks after that :)

I don't think any of us are gonna be playing, the servers are down

Back up.

So I've heard anyway.

I'll be on in an hour or two, gotta go do some shopping for tonight.

Rant... What ever idiot designed these controls should be shot. Having to hold down L2 to do anything is retarded. These controls are so bad, I can't even play more than 2 seconds of it without hating it. Lack of crouch, 10 control schemes that are pretty much the same with 1 or 2 buttons swapped.

    • I was expecting the end of the world to happen before this game or elder scroll 6 to come out.
    • OpenAI and Broadcom unveil Jalapeño, a new AI chip built for LLM inference by Pradeep Viswanathan Image by OpenAI Thanks to the exponential growth of ChatGPT and other LLM-based applications, NVIDIA has grown from a $200 billion company into the first public company to reach a $5 trillion market cap. Even though hyperscalers such as Google and Amazon have their own mature AI accelerators, NVIDIA still dominates the AI infrastructure market with multiple generations of GPUs. Microsoft, OpenAI, and Meta remain among NVIDIA’s largest customers, while Google and Amazon continue to be significant NVIDIA customers as they serve AI workloads for customers on their cloud platforms. Today, OpenAI and Broadcom announced Jalapeño, OpenAI’s first custom “Intelligence Processor” designed specifically for large language model inference. The new chip is the first product from a multi-generation compute platform being developed by OpenAI. OpenAI highlighted that Jalapeño was built from the ground up for current and future LLM workloads, rather than being a general-purpose accelerator adapted for AI. Despite heavy competition from Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and others, ChatGPT remains the most used AI platform in the world. OpenAI mentioned that it leveraged its knowledge of how its models and products run at scale, including ChatGPT, Codex, the API, and future agentic AI systems, to design this new chipset. Its chip architecture reduces data movement while balancing compute, memory, and networking resources. Jalapeño will be deployed in production systems starting in late 2026; however, engineering samples are already running machine learning workloads in OpenAI’s labs at production target frequency and power. According to its internal testing, OpenAI claims this chip can deliver “substantially better” performance per watt, and a detailed technical report is expected in the coming months. While OpenAI designed the chip, Broadcom handled silicon implementation and networking technologies, including Tomahawk networking silicon, and Celestica is assisting with board, rack, and system-level integration. OpenAI pointed out that Jalapeño went from initial design to manufacturing tape-out in just nine months, which it claims is the fastest ASIC development cycle achieved for a high-performance advanced semiconductor. The company attributed the speed of development to its own LLMs, which were used during the chip design and optimization process. Broadcom CEO Hock Tan stated that the company's plan is to deploy the Jalapeño platform at a gigawatt scale with Microsoft and other partners starting in 2026. With Jalapeño, OpenAI joins Google, Microsoft, and Amazon to become a full-stack AI player. The company already develops models and products, and is now moving deeper into infrastructure, including chips, kernels, networking, scheduling, and deployment systems.
