[Official] Killzone 2

Recommended Posts

Oh, BTW man, congrats on the purchase. (Y)

And also since we are not friends yet, add me, DLDirtyLarry, as I can also send invites to people for the clan.

Yeah I do plan on buying my own but this is actually my friends PS3 he just lent it to me for the week, he is not much of a FPS guy so he wasn't too fussed about missing out on Killzone. Munky sent me the clan invite and I already sent you a friend request.

I should be on late afternoon/early evening tomorrow. I think I finally got the controls down by playing some of the SP. Changed it over to default 2. Seemed easier to use for me.

Green Eye, I'll send you an FR tomorrow as well.

Already sent you one bro (Y)

So yeah I played around 2 hours of multiplayer and leveled up a few ranks, and let me just get this out of my system now. The controls are BAD I mean really BAD, I was wrestling with DS controller that is way too small for my hands and the overall design just seems nonsensical and above all the L2 and R2 trigger type things really just left me wanting to headbutt the nearest kitten but the biggest annoyance by far was the look sensitivity, I just cannot get it right, it ALWAYS turns too slow and even then you put a little bit of pressure and it jumps a few cm to the direction you wanted rather then the few mm you actually wanted, at one point it felt down right broken.

The issue here is not that I suck at it because I was on a positive K:D ratio from my first game and got quite a few ribbons during my play, it's just I believe I could have done way better had the controls not been so unresponsive and the DS controller so rubbish.

With that said and all frustrations aside the positives def outweigh the negatives and I did have quite a bit of fun, the maps are very well made, objectives changing is a great idea, guns feel authentic and do the damage you would expect them to and overall it feels and looks absolutely stunning on my new Bravia HDTV :D

See you guys tonight (Y)

I like the learning curve with the aiming, having no auto-aim at all means people actually need to spend time with the game rather than running around locking onto targets day 1/2/3 and racking up kills. However with all the whining going on they may need to tweak things a bit to stop it.

Feels satisfying when you pull off a headshot, which is a 1 hit kill by the way, with any gun it seems. Although pulling off a headshot with a pistol is much harder than a rifle.

Bots

This is a temporary solution to the complaints regarding the cheaters. We will come up with a more suitable and elegant solution which will require a little time to be implemented, tested and deployed, so we ask you to be patient and remain calm. The patch you will have downloaded should have disabled the bots from the game creation screen and set them to zero in your custom game.

As for the people who have already 'padded' their stats, we'll have to talk to the online mods and get their take on it. No decisions made yet.

Stats wipe

We will not be wiping the stats completely. The game servers have been up for a number of weeks now and more than 220000 stats have been posted. I think we would be in quite a bit of trouble if we wiped those now :D

Kz.com

www.Killzone.com has been battered quite a bit the past 2 days. More than we anticipated that it would and we're busy getting it back on its feet. It will be back up and running full-time soon enough.

General

We're watching the forums very carefully and recording any complaints, network errors and as much as the feedback as we can, but the traffic is so massive that we cannot answer all your questions and respond to all of your concerns. We are continuing to look at the complaints of controller issues, network errors and suggestions on improving the game as a whole. Some of these things can be solved quickly and some will take longer term solutions. Any changes will require development, extensive testing and integration so we don't take any steps backwards, but we're getting there and we'll continue to improve the game for a while yet. So stay calm, watch this space and let us go and sort these things out for you.

Its been a long wait and expectations are high, but we had a great launch and its only going to get better. See you folks online shortly. I just have to do my rounds here quickly.

Some dev comments posted today

Nobody is asking for auto aim, we want better controls i.e custom mapping. There's nothing they can do about the DS3 obviously, we just have to suffer with that (N)

I'm doing perfectly well without auto aim though (Y) I have the shooting from hip pretty much down to a t ;)

Most of the whining has nothing to do with the DS3 or custom mapping, it's people complaining they find it difficult to aim/shoot and supposed controller input lag/acceleration/deadzone issues.

Not from the NW crowd it hasn't.

I've played quite a lot of the MP now and I have no idea what you're talking about with concerns to input lag, acceleration and dead zone issues?

Tbh, KZ2 has really turned out to be a big meh in all departments apart from visuals and the refinement it has with clans (N). I'll post my thoughts completely when I've finished SP and ranked out.

Thought I was gonna be hooked on the game for months. I'll probably be bored within a week at this rate.

I wasn't talking about NW, talking about the official forums [about 10 topics every page] and other gaming forums on the web.

The controller lag complaints started with the demo.

Lots of folk around here complain about the DS3, but that happens with every PS3 game, I'm talking about things people are exclusively going on about related to how KZ2 doesn't aim/respond like most other FPS games on consoles right now.

Lack of auto aim is just part of it, people are talking about slowness, slugishness and the weight of things as needing "fixed" also.

I've said from day one when I tried the demo this game is anything but slow. The comments yesterday while we played pretty much backed it up. I'll use DL as an example cause I'm sure he won't mind, but he was just confused because how frantic and crazy it was. Even though you're guys aren't built like UT or GoW characters, they are still quite big, and they have chunky weapons but sprint like ****.

It's a twitchy fast FPS which is exactly why I've been so at home with MP (minus the controller).

If you read this Sethos, I think you're gonna be pretty let down from the MP gameplay. Its worse than CoD arcadeness and you'll no doubt rank as quickly as me too.

Not sure about that, even at killzone's forums.

Aiming isn't the problem, you can only do so well with the shittest analog sticks ever. Its sad too cause I want to enjoy this game sooooooo much. Its like trying to write a novel using a cellphone's keypad.

Has anyone beat it on veteran yet?

We're stuck at the part right before the end guy. The part where there are waves and waves of enemies, then a waive of rocket launchers (this is the problem). Its being cheap as ****.

For that bit I used the Sniper Rifle, should be one on the wall.

Zoom in and strife like it's going out of fashion so you don't get hit, I also found hiding behind the debris on the left at that point so there are no infantry running up the stairs at you was a good way to avoid the rockets, they would, at least for me, always go over your head.

Of course this is all on normal I was playing, but guys with rockets are still incredibly annoying.

What?

I am reading things right off the forums.

Sorry to hear you can't use the controller, many of us can. Might suggest you look at buying the adaptor Larry reviewed.

I played the game for 30 minutes and already got annoyed ( No MP though, servers were down, YAY dedicated awesomnezzzzz? ) and those controls are really annoying. Horrible mapping, DS3 sucking the chrome off a truck and the aim just seems to twitchy. The acceleration is totally off, there is either slow moving or FAST!.

I'm at suljeva village right now, but Salamun Bridge was the toughest one until now (in veteran?s difficulty first try). The game is an average FPS nothing new even weapons are like WW2 weapons with updated textures.

I can?t say anything about MP since I haven?t played it yet (I will give it a try once I finish the game). Besides I don?t do multiplayer that much anyway, I always wound up with Cheney heads. And I don?t care what anybody says PS3 controller is the worst one for this kind of game.

My main problem with DS3 is that the firing trigger and move thumb stick are too close to each other, it?s like pinching a nipple with your hands cuffed behind your back.

I agree Sethos.

The controls (even if you remap it) are just plain arse and its mainly due to the DS3.

The game overall is not that brilliant really (from the SP i played) It's just basically GOW for PS3 but more repetitive i feel. It's definitely a generic FPS with crappy weapons, like Neo003 stated.

There was so much hype on this game it was completely unreal and IMHO it hasn't lived up to the hype (which was far too much any game would fail on as there was simply too much)

I don't know what possessed PS-Fans to tout Killzone 2 to the heaven's as the best graphics ever which it simply isn't but it is impressive it some parts.

I can't comment on MP since i havent touched it yet but might do in the next few days.
