Well lets start new topic on the RC branch

Well i feel this build is slightly buggy

1. WMP12 in now playing mode sometimes doesnt show slider positions and buttons

It is fixed by minimizing and maximising but annoying

2. Explorer is not showing thumbnails on folders as it did in vista even if theres folder.jpg inside each folder

3. Still no transfer speed while copying/moving files (Done on purpose ??)

4. I had activated the build yesterday using a legit key and today it shows windows is not activated and none of the keys work

5. Aero close button fluctuations on any device properties in device manager.

This is all on my 64 bit edition, 32 may vary although it seems strange I haven't tried it to know.

1. Report to MSFT using the Control Panel Send Feedback or else use the Desktop shortcut if you kept it.

2. Change the view to Medium, Large, or Extra Large. If that is what you use thats not normal because it works fine here and presumably for others too.

3. It is there, how is it gone, I'll post a screenshot later

4. Report to MSFT, but always remember this, install your drivers first then activate Windows because it sees some new drivers as entirely new hardware and cuts it off.

5. Again MSFT

transfer speed while copying/moving files works here in build 7048 :)

Fixed dual tuner detection but still will not use both.

All those folders have the folder.jpg file in them but still no thumbnails for most of them

Not supposed to anymore, they are live to show whats in them.

This isn't a bug, but as the topic is Discussions & Bugs, I think this applies :)

I've got a legit Beta key for 7000, and have that installed (in fact am using it right now), anyway, can I upgrade 7000 to 7048 with my beta key!?

Sorry, if this is discussed elsewhere, I did do a quick look but couldn't see it mentioned anywhere.

Yes u can upgrade

but only from X86 -> X86 and X64 -> X64 only

Anyone noticed any problems with Homegroup, i.e you select a folder to share and make it read/write and the icon remains the same so you get no indication that the folder is indeed a share. also that the selected folder does not show in the homegroup, although the regular ones do, like Music, Pictures, Videos.

and a 20 second delay when you select all programs.

One thing they could possibly do for Disk Defragmenter is make it so that it tells you whether it's necessary to defrag or not, currently it tells you how much is fragmented.

I believe on XP, it would do this.

what are ppl's expiry dates heard it expires in june

Mine is July 1st

Has been working better than the last 7022 version for me as well.

I get transfer speeds showing up.

It corrected some errors I had with my Data Color Spyder Elite 3 that I had. It now detects and installs the software fine. It didn't do that before. So they made that better. I installed the hardware update on the 7022 build and it didn't work. The new build now works perfectly with it.

I still think they can improve on the Windows Start Button as well as the superbar. They need to make the active tab more flashy to get attention before you hover over it. I know it is there and which programs as minimized but consumers are looking for something that will stand out. Maybe more contrasting colors in the tabs.

Bug/BSOD if I enabled Firewire(1394) on the motherboard and try to boot with it on I get BSOD. It will BSOD everytime which it didn't do in 7022/7000. I don't use it now but I did use it before in 7022. I just moved the External Drives to USB instead.

I upgraded from x86 7022 to x86 7048. Went smooth. Took a while though.

Things I have noticed no one has mentioned here:

In 7022 I had the taskbar thumbnails disabled. I don't like them. But for some reason they won't stay disabled anymore through gpedit.msc

Anyone know a fix?

My WEI for gaming graphics went down a lot for some reason. It was 6.9 in 7000 & 7022. Now it is 6.0 in 7048. All the others stayed the same. I am using Cats 9.1 4870 1GB (780/925). Perhaps it will go back up with new official ATI Win7 drivers?

I find 7048 boots faster a tiny bit more than 7022. Overall OS experience seems a bit more snappy too.

Can anyone confirm that rolling the mouse over the Start Menu links to your personal folders, Documents, Music, Pictures flickers the bottom part of the Start Menu when the Basic theme (no Aero) is on? If so, that is a pretty big bug that was fixed in 7022 (with the orb itself flickering).

Also, when Alt-Tab'ing, does the Alt-Tab window itself disappear while switching between previews or does it stay? The whole window goes away and just the program icons remain.

It is happening in 7048 x86 for me.

Only two new issues for me.

1. WEI won't complete. Crashes at the very end of the assessment.

2. In WMP12 Now Playing mode previously if I click Show List it would stay there everytime I opened and closed it but now I have to click Show List everytime I go into Now Playing mode. Very annoying.

Other issues I've had since the beta

1. When deleting or formatting a dvd the dvd drive shows up twice in windows explorer until I refresh it.

2. The dvd drive does not show how much space is free when items are written to a dvd only when it's emtpy. Also the bar is always empty whether it's empty or not. It also somes times says it's empty when it's not.

3. Audio volume drops after a days use. Sounds like it's on 80% volume after a day even though it's always set to 100% on all sections.

Oh my God, Microsoft is having same mistakes than in Vista

This is not a public build, nor was it meant to be leaked. So I don't see how they're making the same mistakes. If RAM usage is significantly higher in the final RC1 build then that will be cause for concern.

    • Glad these prices are starting to come down, but that is still crazy. I bought the 2TB 9100 Pro (slightly more expensive version with PCIe 5.0) last year for $240.
    • The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months by Sayan Sen Yesterday, we covered a really good deal wherein you can get a 4TB TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD for a low price of just $400 with a special discount coupon. That's just $100 per TB, making it a very good offer during these hard times. The deal is still live, so you can check it out in its dedicated article here if you do not want to miss out. Meanwhile, if you don't have that kind of budget but still wish to buy an SSD for a good price, the 2TB variant of the TeamGroup SSD at $280 its lowest price in over three months. Meanwhile, those seeking 2TB but faster performance can check out Samsung's 990 PRO, which has hit the lowest price also in the last quarter or so, as it's on sale for $370 (purchase links under the specs table down below). Thus, you want a faster drive, get the 990 Pro, or you want more capacity, grab the TeamGroup 4TB linked in the first para. The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $500. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more. • If you can't spell a simple word that 2nd graders learn, your entire argument is suspect.
    • And here goes the "Won't someone think of the children" brigade. Get stuffed mate. This has NOTHING to do with making the internet safe. It's about tracking adults, spying on your online activity, and sending the boys around when they don't like something you post. Also, again, parliament have voted TWICE against this, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. THAT is anti-democratic bullsh**. They will use this law to track you, they will use this law to control you, and they will use this law to punish you if they don't like what you do, even if it's legal. And your data? Say bye bye to that. It'll be on the darkweb in weeks. I'm not some rando online. I've been an IT professional for 40 years, many of it in security. I know exactly what this means and what will happen to your data. I do not consent and I will not comply.
    • "...but it may not be Microsoft's fault" seems like a reasonable way to tease what is going on without leaving the user with a false impression that an update is the problem. A title isn't a summery, it is meant to entice the user to read the article. It should not contain a misleading premise; which this title does not. You could maybe complain that the first paragraph should have included that detail. The writing style popularized over 100 years ago in newspapers will cover the most important information as soon as possible with details and nuance added later; the idea being that with each new paragraph you have less of the reader's focus.
