burnblue
RIGHT, they put in the abiltiy to Send Feedback for the fun of it to make people think they are helping. The Send Feedback Link is just a standard included in the code from the beta days.. why would they take it out just for 7048 (especially as preparing for an RC release)? The point I see being made by your opposition is that 7048 was not released to the wide public for enthusiasts, and that Microsoft employees have said that treating it as a public release will make those who have to moitor feedback less productive. Why? This release is not expected to be stable enough for public consumption. If you are on Connect maybe it's a different story, but I will just wait until I get an official RC to tell them if it's broken. wguimb
Let's not argue, let's talk about bugs and such. I'm not seeing any major issues with build 7048. I think the majority of folks are quite pleased with it at this point. There are a few having some problems as related on this forum and other boards. But hey, it's a beta product. Bugs and problems are expected. Feedback to Microsoft is expected as well. Don't be shy, submit your issues to them if you are enrolled in Connect. Myrdhinn
Guess now I'm glad, I just upgraded from build 7000 to 7048 and I'm not getting most of these bugs. In fact it was so smooth I'd of thought it was a clean install. Only hitch was I had to reinstall drm rights so media center would play tv and stuff. Lord Ba'al
Today I've found this strange bug in 7048 which wasn't there in 7000. Clean install, no upgrade. It's concerning the Windows colour picker. When you try to type into one of the six text boxes (Hue, Sat, Lum, Red, Green, Blue), it will only let you type two digits rather than three, as it should. This limits the numbers you can input to a maximum of 99. You can use the colour picker to change Hue and Saturation and the slider at the right to set Lumimance, but both aren't very precise. If you want to change R/G/B values independently, you're shafted :( Since the Windows colour picker is not only used by Windows, but also by many applications, this is kinda bothersome :pinch: (Luckily the important ones have options to use colour pickers of their own, but still.) I've got no idea why the Windows colour picker would suddenly be broken  Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/743894-windows-7-build-7048-discussion-and-bugs/page/5/#findComment-590679432 Share on other sites
d4rk5ky
Im having an issue that i did not have in 7022, sometimes when i boot up some of my system icons are either missing or they have an "x" next to them. For example, my network icon is missing but i am still able to browse my network and get online. Also there is an "x" next to my "speaker" which when i hover over it says "the audio service is not running" but yet my audio works fine. Also i find 7022 was much more responsive then this new build, this new build is starting to go the way of vista and i would hate to see that happen because i am loving what they are doing with this new os. :) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/743894-windows-7-build-7048-discussion-and-bugs/page/5/#findComment-590680070 Share on other sites
Guest xiphi
I can safely say that 7048 performs at least as good as 7000/7022. Of the "bugs" I've seen in this thread, I've yet to encounter any of them. djp2
When I first installed 7048 I thought it was slightly slower or "less snappy" than 7000, but that has since worn off. It now performs equally well (maybe a little better in some ways, hard to tell). I wonder if it was just initial indexing, accessing things for the first time, etc. etc. that made it feel slightly more sluggish at first? I don't have any major issues with 7048 ATM. I am concerned with what I'm hearing from others though. Hope Msft takes some feedback before the RC and fixes these issues that others are experiencing. It would be silly if they refused to take feedback that would help improve their OS. God knows MS needs W7 to be a success. Shokus
Is it just me, but 7048 seems to have lost the ability to reopen previously opened Windows at login? I cannot find that option in Folder Options. swaussie
Can anyone else confirm they have a problem with explorer always dropping the selected folder down to the bottom of the pane when browsing deep into the file system? You have to stay in the left hand column or pane. If I open explorer and double click on a folder e.g. windows, then double click on another folder under windows, and another folder under that one and keep going until you have a deep structure, what I find is that once the folder structure fills the left pane, every time I double click a new folder it drops to the bottom of the pane and I have to scroll back up the screen to see what is under it. If I double click on the next folder the whole structure drops to the bottom of the pane again and I have to scroll back up to see the next folder to click on, etc. Let me put it another way, find the deepest nested folder structure you can and keep double clicking folders in the left pane, you should see what I am trying to explain. The process become, double click, scroll up, double click, scroll up, double click, scroll up, etc. I have had this in both build 7000 and 7048. darkmanx21
I've also noticed another change I don't like. Not sure what to call a bug anymore after so many people say, "it's by design." After searching for an mp3 (or any file) in my my music directory - it finds the file really fast (great!), but how come the properties on the bottom header all say Specify Album, Genre..etc. The info is there for sure, sometimes it shows if after a search, sometimes it won't...and it's annoying as hell. I have to go back to the directory, find the file and then all the info I want shows. Never did this in Vista - when you searched, it showed everything..from bitrate to date modified... 7048 needs some work..but it's better than 7022. There is a 5 second delay on login for me also. It gets to the main screen really fast but then stalls after my username and password..oh well.. gate1975mlm
(BUG) 1 Font on desktop icons not readable after changing Windows Themes and selecting Rename from context menu!, Windows 7 Build 7048 In Windows 7 builds 7000, 7022 and 7048 there is a bug where when you change the Windows themes the desktop icons font becomes almost unreadable when right clicking on them and seleting "rename" from the context menu. (BUG) 2 Can't rearrange Start Menu items!, Windows 7 Build 7048 In Windows 7 Beta 7000 ,7022 and 7048 you can not reorder the programs in the Start Menu list. When I try to reorder them it just says + Open with In Windows Vista you can rearrange them with no problem! (BUG 3) bug/glich when clicking on All Progrmas menu!, Windows 7 Build 7048 In Windows 7 Build 7000 ,7022 and 7048 when you click on the start menu then All programs the very edge of the last item in the list appears for an instant and then gets displaced by the separator. Looks like a tiny bug/glitch that it is showing there the separator should show up at the same time as the list (or at least the last item should never draw). It seems if I have 9 or more things showing in the Stat menu list then this but does not happen. You can see when clicking on All programs it sort of like flickers. Can of hard to explain. Just have a look at Vista again then Windows 7 and you should see what I am talking about. I sent a bug report to microsoft almost 3 months ago but it still has not been fixed. Anyone else see this bug/glich? I hope this will be fixed before Winodow 7 final! Vista does that have this issue. (BUG) 4 In Windows 7 Build 7048 the Screen Saver sets it self to "NONE" after a while. I have seen this bug in every build of Winodws 7 so far. Matthew Waldron
Overall 7048 is running good. I have noticed some bugs though. But hey, it's a beta right?1) WEI is not reliable and very buggy. 2) Shutdown and restart takes over 5 minutes and does not complete successfully. 3) Dell TouchPad driver is not working right. 4) I have to supply username and password still after re-booting for mapped drives in a workgroup. I did a clean install on a Inspiron 1526, used the driver Dell provided and it works fine for me.. Anything more specific I should look for? I have troubles with the wireless drivers MS provided - they disconnect and don't reconnect. I am going to fix that once and for all (7022) real soon. Skype and Crossloop do not work - they drop the connection FREQUENTLY. Wired is not a problem. Reboot is the only way to fix that problem. Did that 10 times yesterday (within an hour) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/743894-windows-7-build-7048-discussion-and-bugs/page/5/#findComment-590682792 Share on other sites
huan
BSOD upgrading from 7000 x86 to 7048 x86. I started the upgrade and left the computer installing... When I came back I saw a BSOD (0x0000007b (0x80786b68), 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). I restarted and saw 2 options (Windows SETUP and Windows 7). Computer gone to Windows Setup again and showed BSOD again. So I restarted and got Windows 7 7000 again... (no changes made). I received a message saying that the upgrade couldn't be made and my original version was restored or something else... I have no idea about the reason of the BSOD. Never had problems with 7000. You might look into updating your computers BIOS. Before that, make it happen again and see if it tells you the faulting module in the BSOD. Google that module name and it might lead you to the culprit. EGM92
I just found some weird. Build 7048 x86 will not detect my memory card reader thats on the front panel of my computer. If the folder tree on the left is long enough for a scroll bar to appear, and you open a folder containing subfolders by clicking on the white triangle left of it, that folder jumps to the bottom of the folder tree. I think what they meant to do is for the folder to jump to the top of the folder tree so you can see all the subfolders, but somehow it ended up doing the exact opposite and now jumps to the bottom.
