I just found some weird. Build 7048 x86 will not detect my memory card reader thats on the front panel of my computer. I checked the connection and it's fine. It was working on build 7022 all my devices were showing up as Removable Drives and would change name depending on the memory card connected. Now nothing is showing up under Computer besides my HDD's and DVD Drives. I can't find anything listed under device manager either.

Is this a bug?

I opened a Connect bug report on this after build 7000. They closed it "By Design". Go to Folder Options and check the option to show all drives or something like that.

Is there anybody who can explain what should those icons mean.

Small blue boxes in left corner on my pictures . i have them on my mp3's and txt documents too.

Thanks

Yes they are backup status indicators in norton 360. Turn off automatic backup option in norton 360 and they'll go away.

Also another bug I found. Realtek audio isn't working properly. I have a logitech 5.1 sound system. I get every speaker working except for the rear right speaker which no sound comes out of but you can hear natural feedback.

When I unplug any combination of Center/Front speakers both rears work but not when they're all plugged in. I get the same problem when testing with the Realtek HD software and even listening to music or watching videos. Anyone else experience this or know how to fix it?

Audio Codec: ALC883

Software version: 2.17

I didn't have this problem in 7022.

Sounds like a hardware/driver issue. Could be caused by the BIOS version. You might look into updating your computers BIOS. Before that, make it happen again and see if it tells you the faulting module in the BSOD. Google that module name and it might lead you to the culprit.

My motherboard is "Intel Santa Rosa CRB" (I never find a "code" with numbers about the model) and I really can't find a way to upgrade the BIOS. I see no options that can change what's happening in the initialization.

hey everyone, just testing out build 7048 and i am having a really annoying problem...

all the time when i go to click on the start menu and click back to bring up the program list the computer stalls, the blue loading orb appears and i just have to wait for it to load, its driving me crazy.

other than that problem, i like the new build it seems faster, with some nice ui changes

also forget to mention since the beta i have had problems with windows media player, when swapping between windows using the new aero peek video playback starts to stutter for a few seconds.

I did a clean install on a Inspiron 1526, used the driver Dell provided and it works fine for me.. Anything more specific I should look for? I have troubles with the wireless drivers MS provided - they disconnect and don't reconnect. I am going to fix that once and for all (7022) real soon. Skype and Crossloop do not work - they drop the connection FREQUENTLY. Wired is not a problem. Reboot is the only way to fix that problem. Did that 10 times yesterday (within an hour)

WIFI seems to have some issues in 7048 64bit. The first Vista driver I used gave me the connect/disconnect problem a lot of people have. Connection works for a minute, then it gives you "local only"and then after some trys and reconnects you have internet again, which is really slow. I also tried the driver from from the windows update. This one works perfect , atleast it looked liked it worked perfect. But it seems this one gives me a random freezing problem. PC seems to freeze entierly, at random occasions. I can finally reproduce it by uploading a file to the internet. Then it will always crash. So it must be the WIFI drivers I concluded.

Tonight i'm forced to go to X86, and hope the problem will be gone.

Weird. My Wi-Fi works perfect in 7048 x64.

I did notice on several forums people have the connect/disconnecting issues. The freezing issue is kinda new, didn't see it on other forums. But since I can reproduce it with uploading, it must be networkrelated. I think it might be a few types of WIFI cards. I use the Sitecom WL-181 which is based on a Ralink chip. Didn't have any issues at all on 700032 bit regarding WIFI. So hopefully 7048x86 will fix it as well.

This was a known issue before installing it, so I knew to expect a delay with it, I wish it was gone, and I hope Microsoft release an update to fix it. (doubtful)

Same problem with X86 :(

Sorry If I ask in wrong topic, but I upgraded to 7048 from 7022, and I found 2 hidden folder on my hd.

The two folder is: $INPLACE.~TR , $WINDOWS.~Q

Can I delete them without any problem?

If you have all the files you need from them, you can safely delete them.

Well, the connection problems can be solved by a driver upgrade from the devicemanager (in my case atleast). Hopefully the freezing will be gone though, because that is really problematic.

Had a similar problem..just installed the Vista driver and it's been working fine.

6956, 7000, and 7022 all dropped conections on my Intel WiFi Link card. 7048, drops it, and then gets it back and it's so slow it's like going back to 56k. Lol. Installing the Vista driver resolves the problem every time. No drops, no connection issues, fast speed and no errors after sleep.

Now, after using 7048 on my desktop..it's starting to drop connections also. Twice in 4 days..only solution is to reset. Not sure what is going on with WiFi in 7 but it seems to be my only real problem.

Yes, you can delete them. They would be used if you wanted to "undo" the upgrade.

Might be some netbook powersaving test feature. But that is just a stupid guess :)

Actually I would have it like the Control Panel or Library view, and call it the Font Library, and you can choose the locations to include in the Font Library.

This would reduce the need to use font management tools, and you could add and remove folders when you need certain fonts.

    • "The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months¨ I'd prefer to see the lowest price in over a year
    • Glad these prices are starting to come down, but that is still crazy. I bought the 2TB 9100 Pro (slightly more expensive version with PCIe 5.0) last year for $240.
    • The 2TB Samsung 990 PRO NVMe SSD hits lowest price in over three months by Sayan Sen Yesterday, we covered a really good deal wherein you can get a 4TB TeamGroup T-FORCE G50 NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD for a low price of just $400 with a special discount coupon. That's just $100 per TB, making it a very good offer during these hard times. The deal is still live, so you can check it out in its dedicated article here if you do not want to miss out. Meanwhile, if you don't have that kind of budget but still wish to buy an SSD for a good price, the 2TB variant of the TeamGroup SSD at $280 its lowest price in over three months. Meanwhile, those seeking 2TB but faster performance can check out Samsung's 990 PRO, which has hit the lowest price also in the last quarter or so, as it's on sale for $370 (purchase links under the specs table down below). Thus, you want a faster drive, get the 990 Pro, or you want more capacity, grab the TeamGroup 4TB linked in the first para. The 990 PRO is a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD and still one of the fastest drives available today for under $500. Speaking of fast, sequential reads and writes are rated at 7450 MB/s and 6900 MB/s, respectively. The random throughputs for reads and writes are 1400K IOPS and 1550K IOPS, respectively. The 990 PRO is based on Samsung's 7th Gen V-NAND flash, and it too is TLC. It packs 2 gigs of LPDDR4 DRAM cache, which helps the random performance. The endurance rating for this is 1200 TBW (terabytes written), which should be sufficient for most users. The Samsung 990 PRO is compatible with the PlayStation 5, but if you are going to use the 990 PRO on a PC, check out the Samsung Magician app that lets you track your drive's health, update its firmware, customize various settings, and more. • If you can't spell a simple word that 2nd graders learn, your entire argument is suspect.
    • And here goes the "Won't someone think of the children" brigade. Get stuffed mate. This has NOTHING to do with making the internet safe. It's about tracking adults, spying on your online activity, and sending the boys around when they don't like something you post. Also, again, parliament have voted TWICE against this, and Starmer is going ahead anyway. THAT is anti-democratic bullsh**. They will use this law to track you, they will use this law to control you, and they will use this law to punish you if they don't like what you do, even if it's legal. And your data? Say bye bye to that. It'll be on the darkweb in weeks. I'm not some rando online. I've been an IT professional for 40 years, many of it in security. I know exactly what this means and what will happen to your data. I do not consent and I will not comply.
