Desktop : p3-800eb

laptop : p4 2,6

laptop: mobile pentium III 700 MHz

soon to buy another laptop: which is better pentium 4 2.0 GHz or Pentium M 1.3 GHz?

Go with the P-M 1.3ghz, it's just as good if not better thatn then p4 mobile

The Pentium-M is much better for Laptops because it uses a great deal less of power than the standard Pentium 4 - M. Average battery life of a 1.5Ghz Pentium-M is 4 hours (lite use). In terms of perfomance the Pentium-M is superior to the lower clocked Pentium 4- M processors in desktop/3d mark benchmarks. The Pentium-M uses 1mb of level 2 cache that is optimised to run on laptops as well.
