'Inbetweeners' movie in the works?

Simon Bird has hinted that an Inbetweeners movie could be on the horizon.

Speaking at this year's TV Quick & TV Choice Awards, where the E4 series was crowned best comedy show, the 25-year-old actor remained coy when asked if a film could be spawned from the television series, but confirmed that it is something the cast would love to do.

"I don't know - we're not allowed to say. It's not up to us. I mean, that's obviously a yes!" he said.

Blake Harrison, who plays Neil Sutherland, added: "There are loads of rumours going around about different things, but whether anything actually happens is a whole other story. We have loads of fun doing a series, so I think a film would be just as much fun."

Asked about possible storylines for the movie, Bird concluded: "I don't think we can give anything away. But there has been talk about [a film]!

"I'd like to see Will finally pop his cherry! Just more of the same, I think. If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

'Inbetweeners' writer confirms movie

Inbetweeners writer Iain Morris has confirmed that a movie of the show is in the works.

Speaking exclusively to DS, Morris said that a script has been written, but they are yet to receive funding for the project.

"We've written a film script because for me, the most defining experience of an 18-year-old boy is when you go on your first holiday with your mates," he said. "That would be exciting."

He added: "I don't know how films work - I've never made a film before. We're written a script so we're just hoping Film4 will say, 'Here's the money, here's the helicopter, now go to Tenerife and film it!'

"I think there'll probably have to be a few more conversations before that happens!"

The Inbetweeners returns for its third series in 2010.

'Inbetweeners' Bird for new E4 pilot

Inbetweeners star Simon Bird has signed up for a new E4 pilot called Friday Night Dinner.

The comedy project, which also stars Tamsin Greig, Tom Rosenthal and Paul Ritter, centres on the Goodman parents and their sons Adam (Bird) and Jonny (Ritter) who go round to their parents' house for Friday night dinner.

The pilot has been written by Robert Popper, whose writing credits include BBC’s Harry & Paul and The Peter Serafinowicz Show.

He has also script-edited for IT Crowd, Peep Show series five and six and The Inbetweeners and produced series three and four of Peep Show.

I think if it's done in the same manner as most good british films are (i.e based a good story, maybe a school trip etc) then it would work but nothing fancy, nothing unbelievable. The joy i find in the show is that it reminds me of my school days where nothing was out of bounds or to rude to do/say.

It's a shame they are milking what was such a good series!

I think a film could milk it a bit but only if it works as I said it could be a 90 minute awesomefest or it could be a 90 minute crapfest :p

Blake Harrison has hinted that The Inbetweeners may come to an end after its third series. (Digital Spy)

His co-star James Buckley was recently quoted as saying the cast are "too old" to continue playing their respective roles, sparking reports that the show may not continue.

Speaking exclusively to DS, Harrison did little to dispel the rumours, suggesting that a fourth series "would be quite contrived".

"As far as I'm aware for the next series we're moving into the upper sixth and it would be incredibly contrived to have them all at the same university so it depends how long the third series spans for.

"If they span it for just a term or two maybe there will be another series but if they span it for the whole year I think it would be quite weird if there was another series. They wouldn't all end up at the same uni - obviously - so it would be quite contrived."

Sorry, but I wouldn't see a problem with them being in Uni.

Would be a bit weird I think, all 4 at the same University. I think Will would annoyed that Neil got into the same University as him...

I think it should end on this rumoured movie.

Head promises "funnier" 'Inbetweeners'

Emily Head has claimed that the third series of The Inbetweeners is the funniest yet.

Head, who stars as Carli D'Amato in the comedy, told The Mirror that she doesn't expect much romance in the show.

"How much romance can there be with those four boys, really?" she said.

"There's going to be a lot of swearing, as always, a bit of the boys getting naked, again, always fun, and pretty much the same that we've had before, but funnier, I think - I think this series is definitely funnier."

Head also revealed that she wants to make a fourth series of the programme.

"It kind of depends how long they want to have a span of the series," she said. "I'd like to think we've got another one in us, but it may be the end - we're not sure."

Blake Harrison has previously suggested that a fourth series of The Inbetweeners would be "quite contrived".

    • Sound Booster 1.13 Build 575 by Razvan Serea Increase volume on your laptop. Boost the volume of even very quiet speakers. Raise volume above maximum. Letasoft Sound Booster can be used as an extra amplifier when the volume of the program you are listening to is too low for comfortable listening and you feel that your PC’s speakers can produce a louder sound. This can be the case when the audio or video has been recorded at the level below normal. Or, for example, when the other person’s microphone you are talking to on Skype, is not working properly. There can be a plenty of other reasons why the sound is being too quiet and there is not much you can do about it except buy external speakers. Sound of any application that is being played in the system can be amplified up to 500%. Letasoft Sound Booster can raise volume of programs like web browsers, on-line communication software (Teams, Discord, Zoom), any kind of media player or games. Simply put, volume of virtually any program that can play any sound in PC, can be boosted to a comfortable level with Letasoft Sound Booster. You can control current volume with the pop-up slider from the system tray. Alternatively, you can assign system-wide hot keys for increasing and decreasing, and use them when you need to adjust volume Letasoft Sound Booster constantly monitors current gain level and prevents samples from clipping, thus reducing all major sound distortions. • I own these and the normal QuietComfort ones from Bose. The QC are amazing and I want to love these, but for the life of me, I have a terrible time getting them attached to my ears.
    • Thanks for the tip. I am giving it a try. Initial quick impression: I like it.
