Gmail and Chrome

Title says it all. I type in www.gmail.com into the address bar and it sorta loads. The circle spinning animation at the top spins slowly and then stops at a blank page mail.google.com/gmail

I've tried reinstalling, clearing cache within Chrome and with other programs such as CCleaner to no avail. Seems kinda overdoing it if I reformat a comp just because of a small bug in a browser lol

Any suggestions and fixes?

I've had similar loading issues with other pages, but I've always gotten around it by copying the address, closing the tab, and reopening the page in a new tab. Anyone know what the deal is? I've also had some other issues with the cache where I get old versions of pages I've visited until I reload.
