Netgear WG311v3 in Windows 7 x64

Sorry for reviving an old thread...

I had the same problem and was searching frantically for a resolution, to no avail...

I ended up calling Netgear and gave them an earful.

Ended up that their engineers started to get their act into shape (too late imho), and will be coming up with a compatible driver for Win7 x64 before Feb '10.

Just brought this stupid card right now not knowing all the problems it had.

Now when I use windows update to install the driver, it says Code 10, hardware could not start in device manager.

Freaking pathetic, what do I do? I'm going to unplug it and install the software it came with to see what happens.

Using Win 7 x64.

EDIT: AAH crap shut down pc, inserted the card, booted up, now the installation won't continue like its supposed to. Nothing's happening, all I see is the process WG311v3.exe in task manager.

As the title says, has anyone managed to get a Netgear WG311v3 wireless PCI card to work in Windows 7 x64? The driver from Netgear's site is not signed (according to Windows 7), but a working driver was included in Vista x64. Why is it that Microsoft seems to like to drop drivers like this between versions? If it worked in Vista it SHOULD work in 7. Its not like this is ancient hardware, these cards are still being sold in stores! The only way I've managed to get it to work is turning off driver signing checking, but I really hate having to do that.

Driver signing is irrelevant to the problem.

The problem is that the drivers released by Netgear are 32 bit only.

A 64 bit OS requires 64 bit drivers and until Netgear releases 64 bit drivers the WG311v3 is just a uselss hunk of PCB.
