I wrote in two other topics incorrectly labeled as "Windows 7 build 7048" that program freezes, Windows Media Player and Windows Updates, were occurring and malfunctions were happening in Windows Explorer. After further investigation, I found the problem is a software conflict.

I was using Outpost Firewall Pro with Windows XP. That product worked well with Windows Vista, however, it does not function with any of the Windows 7 builds. The product causes a bsod and an immediate dumping of memory followed by a reboot. Because Windows 7 would never reboot to the desktop, the product had to be uninstalled in Safe Mode.

I was able to use the Outpost Firewall Pro Beta with all builds of Windows 7 except this one, build 7057.

I'm looking for other software conflicts as I performed another clean install of Windows 7 build 7057.

I also found that Windows 7 build 7057 does function the same way each time it is loaded as a clean install. Sometimes there are three updates available, one for Windows Defender and two driver updates. Other times the update for Windows Defender is not available. Other things occur like the install of WinRAR. The program, WinRAR, does not function the same way with each clean install.

No issues with any built in apps here other than IE crashing once in a while. WinRar for me works just fine. No issues with WU either.

If you want a good free firewall try Comodo. http://www.comodo.com

Hello iamwhoiam,

Used it for about six months with WinXP. It's okay, but Outpost is better. Another excellent program is Online Armor. Unfortunately that has the same problems with Windows 7 as Outpost Firewall Pro. For more info, go here

I do use Comodo's BOClean. Other security progs that work are Avira AntiVir, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Webroot Window Washer. When you use Spybot S&D, it's helpful to install the Tea Timer. The Tea Timer prevents unwarranted access to the registry and will not allow changes to the registry unless you authorize it.

WinRAR works fine for me too. The issue that I had was after the second clean install. I pointed the mouse to a utility for the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P mobo, Easy Tune 6_I use it to monitor the fan speeds and CPU/mobo temperature, and the OS did not utilize WinRAR and open the rar archive exposing the setup file. On a previous clean install, Windows 7 performed properly and opened the setup file automatically once WinRAR was installed. Other than that, WinRAR is functioning as it should.

I have found that KIS 2009 works with al Win 7 builds.

Regards +Gary7,

I'll contact Agnitum and inform them of the problem. Kind of give them a heads up. They always address problems with their products. +Gary7, check out Matousec. For anti-virus ratings, check this site

I used Kaspersky's products way back in 1998 and recently, but I switched.

Its Working as Expected all software i have.

For me it works like any other Microsoft product, it has its ups and downs. It's definitely faster than Vista or XP. It's not boring because it's new. But, because it is a Microsoft OS, it does and will have bugs and additional problems. That's to be expected. Nothing is perfect, so you do the best with what you have. I'm sure many issues will be ironed out once the official product is released. Other problems will be resolved with the issuance of a service pack.

Problem resolved. Agnitum produced a new version of Outpost Security Suite Pro, v6.7 (2916.425.0701). Originally, I went with Outpost Firewall Pro. Now everything functions and no problems.

Where can you download that one? The download side still has an old version (6.5.2518.381.0686).

I'm currently using a beta version for Win7 (Outpost Security Suite Pro 2009 ver. 6.5.2905.372.0677), which works fine on Build 7057 btw.
