I can't understand why these small bugs have not been fixed and new bugs appear at this late stage of the proceedings ????

Most of the small bugs will never be fixed. Look at how many were still in XP after all these years. Minory bugs from Vista RTM are still present (even SP2). Microsoft has never been one for consistency, polish or having as few bugs as possible. That (partly) can attributed to the 20+ years of compatability layers and laziness on devs and designers.

I've just only upgraded my Vista x64 to Windows 7 x64 build 7068 and my Start Menu is basically empty. Screenshots: 1) http://hyd.org/start1.png 2) http://hyd.org/start2.png

All the shortcuts in %SYSTEMDRIVE%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu and %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu are still there, only they don't show up in the menu.

I believe that is not a migration issue since I've just installed a few programs under Win7 and its shortcuts still don't appear in the Start Menu.

Is that a known issue?

Thanks! (quoted from http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-se...ot-working.html )

This seems to be a very common problem with 7068 x64, occurring with clean and upgrade installs from Vista and previous Win7 builds.

*Font bug

Might be my own fault, since i picked Dari instead of Danish after the first boot.

But this build won't display ??? in most of the apps i run.

Also, the "standard" fonts look strange.

I guess it's still a bug that you can't make a wrong pick when you set up the language, without fooking up the fon:) :)

The fonts look as they should for me.

Why don't you look under "Region and Language" in the control panel if something is set to Arabic or somesuch?

THIS

(Control Panel > System)

Installed memory displays just fine for me there, and it displayed fine in 7057 and before as well.

(Empty start menu)

Can't say so, don't have this problem and never had it in any build before.

- Media Center related bug (present in the 7000 build as well): audio doesn't work for analog TV channels via antenna using USB PCTV 330e by Pinnacle (with driver provided by Microsoft). It happens on x64 only, no problem on x86.

- new problem with the MacBook (4.1) wireless adapter: time to time the system freezes and the only solution is a hard reset. Never happened with the previous builds. I tried a USB USRobotics wireless adapter (802.11g) + Microsoft drivers and it works fine and the freeze doesn't occur, so it seems to be a bug specific of the Microsoft driver for the Broadcom 802.11n adapter.

Windows Update offers a newer driver for it, but it doesn't work at all, installing it results in not been able to use the wifi at all. It's not a hardware problem since I still have a partition with the 7000 build and it works fine, it also works fine under OS X.

7068 has been "locking up" on me after I let my screen turn off and I come back to it. the screen comes back on, but I cannot interact with anything, the hard drive is still going if, say, I have a download going, sometimes the mouse works for about 3 seconds and then nothing. I have set my my laptop to not turn off the screen after a given amount of time but rather I close my laptop, which I set to do nothing (so the screen turns off)

same thing for both 64 and 32 bit.

Can't say so, don't have this problem and never had it in any build before.

At least three persons on Neowin forums have had this blank Start Menu/All Programs bug. Also: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?p=56603 and http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-se...rams-blank.html

Apologies for 'hijacking' your thread..I'd rather avoid opening an uneccessary thread about this.

I am on 7057-tried pinning a shortcut to temp folder on taskbar but am unable to see the icon in taskbar. Windows/Registry somehow records the shortcut as being there-I know this because when I tried to create another shortcut with the same name it said something like 'A folder with the same name already exists-do you want to rename it Temp[2]' or sth similar.

Any idea how to view/delete it?

General consensus amongst the voices in my head is that it is quicker, less buggy, and more polished than 7057.

Have the voices told you anything about the RC? Ask them if I should wait or install now. Feels like one of those Quizno's Torpedos commercials. Lol.

Some may be mentioned before, but here we go:

*wmp thumbnail controls arent working quite right - cant pause from there.

*background wallpaper slideshow cancels it after exiting games (or to be more precise it doesnt enable itself after exiting fullscreen aps?)

*start menu pining glitch

*some games that did that before now fails to add themselves to games explorer. But this might as well not be a bug.

The prev, next and play-pause button get doubleclicked if you click them once... (so if you pause, it gets pushed again and it continue playing immediately, and next/prev buttons jumping 2 tracks forward and backward)

Confirmed and always reproducible on 7068 x64: BSOD on un-plugging USB Microsoft XBox360 Controller on HP Pavilion HDX9xxx Notebook PCs (aka the Dragon)

Same here, happened to me yesterday with the xbox wireless receiver

    • Yes, THIS is wordart, not the styling that can now be done. Wordart was all about those curvy words, that you could change the path of, like making words go around a circle. I don't think it can be done now, right?

    • Password Safe 3.72.0 by Razvan Serea Password Safe is a password database utility. Like many other such products, commercial and otherwise, it stores your passwords in an encrypted file, allowing you to remember only one password (the "safe combination"), instead of all the username/password combinations that you use. Once stored, your user names and passwords are just a few clicks away. Using Password Safe you can organize your passwords using your own customizable references—for example, by user ID, category, web site, or location. You can choose to store all your passwords in a single encrypted master password list (an encrypted password database), or use multiple databases to further organize your passwords (work and home, for example). And with its intuitive interface you will be up and running in minutes. PasswordSafe was originally designed by the renowned security technologist Bruce Schneier and released as a free utility application. Password Safe 3.72.0 changelog: Fixed bugs Improved font scale handling - should resolve font size issues on high resolution displays. GH1749 In the Master Password Setup window, "Show Master Password" is no longer truncated on some displays. GH1092, SF1595 Size and position of main window is now correctly restored on scaled displays. SF1630 Keep password expiry date when both password and password expiry are changed; don't clear a non-recurring expiry when the password's changed. SF1628 Custom values can now be copied to the clipboard in read-only mode via Ctrl-C and right-click->Copy Value. New features GH1196 Dark display mode support: Password Safe now supports the system display mode, as well as setting the mode directly via Manage->Options->Display->Display Mode. This change also updates the general "look & feel" of the app to the current Windows theme. Known limitations: The Date picker and keyboard shortcut controls do not switch to dark theme The Customize Toolbar dialog does not switch to dark theme Custom Field support has been added to the more advanced features: Filters XML and Text import and export Comparison, Sync and Merge databases SF938 Custom field values may now be selected by name and copied via a "Copy Custom Field Value..." submenu in the entry context popup menu. SF936 Notes and Custom fields layout now overlap, selectable by tabs, resulting in a more compact and less cluttered layout. • I've got a SoundBlasterX G6 that I use in my streaming setup. Sounds great to me and I've had zero issues with the ancient software package so far in Win11. That G6 has 7.1, Dolby, fully working SPDIF and since it's a USB device it's outside of my rig so I don't have to worry about EMF distortion. Looks like for now this is a pass for me as I think I have better hardware....
