If anything you do get the feeling that we're in for yet more action like the first one, which is good to me. I've always been a big fan of the star trek ship to ship battles like in the 2nd and 6th movies with the original crew. The 2009 movie did that good, we'll see what happens in this sequel.

The first one was all character... well, Main character. The villain was there

for fluff. I'm expecting this one to change gears and up the action ante.

But even that being said... it's still going to be character driven, obviously.

Just look at the cast. It's phenomenal.

At IMAX theaters the first 10 min of STID will screen before The Hobbit.

Ahh why would you want to see that? Seeing a trailer is one thing (though I even avoid those) but seeing the first 10 minutes then having to wait months to see the rest would be really annoying.

You think that's bad? I used to know a guy who'd pay full price at the theatre just to see a trailer for a movie he's interested in, then he'd leave. The last time I saw him was at a movie showing the trailer for "Spider-Man" (2002)!

this is really an alternate universe story to the original star trek timeline. right off the bat the owners of star trek are playing it safe. i don't think i want to invest any attachment to something that even the franchise itself has no confidence in, or can easily brush off later.

Where do you get that they have no confidence in it? JJ and his writers are huge Star Trek fans and they know the show and the universe well. Doing the "alternate universe through time travel changing history" bit is just a scifi way to reboot the series. I don't see a problem with it doing so.

Yeah, I agree. I think that would annoy me too. LOL

Will STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS Be The Last Time We See Zachary Quinto As Spock?

?It?s like an era of association with certain roles ? a specific part like Spock, or a kind of part, like Sylar ? is coming to an end,? he says.

If he doesn't play Spock anymore, then they'll have to take the story into a radically different direction. Maybe even one with a new crew and starship.

Why? Just recast it. That or add a few digits to his salary in a multi-film contract renegotiation, which is what this is probably all about.

    • As a game dev, today was really depressing. They announced that Blueprints will be deprecated in UE6 to be fully replaced by their sh**ty Python-like Verse language... They also announced that 5.8 will be the last version of UE5 until UE6 comes out in MID 2029!!!! They have completely lost the plot.

    • That's not what I meant:) I like the tabs being above the URL bar, but previously the tab selection started from the top of the screen (y=0). So I could just quickly push my mouse up and done. Now I have to actually aim it just slightly below the top, because the tab is now a few pixels below the top. In other words, previously I only had to aim with my mouse horizontally, now I have to both vertically and horizontally. Super annoying.
