Windows 7 Avi Playback Lag?

I'm noticing some lag issues in Windows 7 when playing Avi files and even HD playback.. Which is forcing me to use Vista... I could use Videolan but I prefer Windows Media Player..

I noticed this today and forgot that I had changed a setting in the nVIDIA control panel to sharpen my videos. Turned that down to 20% and it works great again.

I also noticed that the K--Lite Codec Pack has been causing me a lot of problems in 7. Very annoying :( I swithced to CCCP and all is working great again :)

What benefit did you feel you were getting by installing https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?act=announce&f=12&id=11?

What particular AVI was causing this problem? It 'd be interesting to see if it happened for other people too.

It wasn't any particular AVI really. My problem was fixed by turning down options in nvidia control panel.

I have noticed that if I open a new AVI just after one has stopped playing Media player crashes and I have to close it. In older builds, not seen this again thankfully, some AVI files would stop playing half way through and I was then told that it cannot find the file :/

HD files lagging and being annoying has been fixed by removing K--Lite.
