Today i saw the daemon tool Pro version is available with Windows 7 beta supporting (SPTD 1.58), so i tried to install the lite version with it and its work :)

For whose they want to install too, follow this :

1) Download the Daemon Tool Pro and lite version

2) Launch the Pro version to install the SPTD driver

3) The program ask you to reboot, so do it

4) Quit the setup of daemon tool Pro

5) Launch the setup of daemon tool Lite

6) Launch daemon tool as administrator

[edit]- You can now find the SPTD driver directly on http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads (for x86 and x64) (thanks chaosblade ;) )

-It freeze for a while on the ""Updating Virtual Devices..", be patient (thanks for repport)

enjoy

Why do people insist on using daemon tools, all you need is Virtual Clonedrive, unless you are pirating software?

Because Virtual CloneDrive isn't nearly as good. It can't mount as many image files as DT.

It also doesn't work nearly as well, with context menu options and all that.

And then there's things like MediaPortal wich has support to auto mount image files in DT for you, of course DT ha an artifical blcook to stop you from installing on 7 beta for now.

Why does everyone say that? It's so not true. I use Alcohol52% for my games. For example I legally purchased 2142, then made a image of it. I put that image on my 3x 300GB VelociRaptors in RAID0....the games/maps load almost instantly, instead of waiting for the dvd to be spun up and read.

You can't use Virtual Clonedrive for that, as it does not work for images of games and such.

BF2142 only uses the DVD when it starts up and then doesnt read from it again same with 99% of games nowadays. Not that I agree with the people on the whole Daemon tools is for piracy thing.

Who is pirating? I loathe dvd checks, and some games simply don't have no-cd patches (Or aren't up to date with patches). So you get a nice little 100kb image that can mount in Daemon tools....

...even more of a reason to why people use tools like DT. Why have to pull out the DVD and put it in each time you want to play the game, when you can use DT and have all of your games ready to play instantly? U have like 13 different game images loaded, and all I have to do is double-click the icon and it plays. No need to pull out the DVD and insert it and then get to play.

It has to be only for x86. DT has not worked for anyone with x64.

I originally was using DT, but I realized it is extra bloat for me when Poweriso already had virtual drives.

Why am I running DT on Windows 7 x64 build 7077 right now, then?

The new SPTD driver rules. I installed it and DT Lite 4.30.3 on Windows 7 7077 x64 and it's working great. I had a little problem after installing DT Lite though. When it was enabling the virtual drive after the install, it froze. I rebooted my machine and it worked fine after that. Successfully installed GTA San Andreas from an image I made with Alcohol 120% :)

...I was just pointing something out not saying its wrong to use daemon tools, you stated you do it because your games and maps load faster when in fact they dont because the DVD isnt used at that part of the game.

Daemon tools freezing after enabling more or one virtual drives is not a Win7 bug, I've known it from some of the earliest Daemon Tools versions.

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!
    • Same, never saw it on Android or iOS. Guess only some people got it *shrugs*
