Office 2010 Ribbon: Now with more glass

Two recent screenshots of Outlook 2010 reveal that the glass frame will be extended down to include the tab section of the ribbon, just like the address bar in Explorer/IE7/IE8 in Vista/7.

Hmm, looks nice... but they better make sure it works with Aero Snap. Office 2007 does not. (Actually, neither does Google Chrome or Safari 4.)

IE8 does though, so I hope they can get it right.

The Windows 7 ribbon fully supports Aero Snap, so I can't see it being an issue for Office 2010.

Office 2007 does work with aero snap. Atleast on build 7077.

Really? Including restoring the window (from the maximised state)? In build 7000, maximising and snapping to the left/right edges works, but not restoring.

probably they just didn't have enough time and they probably wanted people to get used to the dea of ribbon before putting it in outlook/publisher/onenote

some of the built in apps in windows 7 use the ribbon interface, I wonder if they will update them later one to use the newer ribbon interface used in office 2010

This whole glass idea is getting out of hand. I just started sing W7 and i must say it looks more polished than vista, but the glass just doesn't do it for me.

so turn glass off? Or turn the transparency lower. Having "Glass" in "windows" makes sense when you think about it. It's just odd they didn't do it sooner since even back in Win2k they supported transparency.

I can confirm that aero snap doesn't work properly. If you attach it so that the window maximises, you cannot pull it back off again, so you either hit the unmaximise button or double click the top of the window.

our screens are big enough to allow for some waste. its not like you use 15" :p

Most likely that is to make it easier to use with multitouch. :)
