Keep in mind that the code for 7100 is already outdated. The latest internal build is likely even more stable and could have a few more minor last minute improvements.

Yes, that's why I said I'm more interested in Build 7115 from the winmain trunk

btw: 1000 posts! :woot: :hump:

Hopefully it will get posted on Connect so us tech beta testers will actually get something before the public does, like its supposed to be. I have never understood Sinofsky's reasoning behind "it takes to long to prepare a build" for beta testers so we just won't give them anything. During the Vista beta we got tons of builds, I can understand how THAT would of wasted alot of time that could of been used to fix bugs but not giving us at least one official private build is just rediculous. I mean obviously MS is probably the one behind all these leaks but if they already have all these builds to give out why not give them out officially. CTPs don't have to be thoroughly tested and thats what these leaks are basically.

Sorry if Im sounding like a broken record. Im sure plenty of people have already asked this question.

Oh of course it is total BS. Just look at the fact that one may wonder where a lot of these leaks have come from. The answer is OEMs / TAPs. 'Preparing' a build for testers is an excuse. Testers are here to test buggy bits and report all problems back for microsoft to fix. The more bugs the better. I say less 'preparation' is better.

Not to mention they never have addressed a valid argument many have brought up which is if the official connect testers remain loyal and do not install a leaked build, yet we got beta 1 and then recieve the RC which is 'sealed' and thus no feedback (bugs) can be addressed before its passed off publicly (which it well will) and its the same 'sealed' build then we are pretty much worthless to microsoft. Mainly because reporting bugs on beta 1 there is so much fixed between that and the RC that it doesnt matter. Not to mention but what if one was to find a showstopper (which i consider the mp3 bug to have been) etc. and since its signed off and sealed we can not provide feedback to it be fixed before its released publicly. Thats lame but something that could have been caught if we were getting our monthly/semi-monthly drops as we were back during the longhorn/vista beta.

So in closing the excuses they say about not giving us regular builds is just BS to cover the fact that sinofsky runs the show differently and with him running it testers get the raw end of the stick. They will never openly admit to that, but we and they know its the truth. Thats why they aren't as vigorous in hunting down and stopping leakers as they used to be because they even think that we are getting an unfair bit, but cant say it themselves.

Hopefully this is just a phase where since Win7 is just evolutionary release from Vista there isn't "as" much need to have as much "official" help outside the inner circle of MVPs and ISVs, with bugs as they did with the Vista program. So when they decide to have another revolutionary release like they did with Win95 or Vista they will be all open arms again welcoming all the old testers back with all the builds they can muster.

But, I'm sure thats just wishful thinking, its probably going to be the opposite where the Windows tech beta program will become identical to the Office program where all the beta testers are either MVPs or TAP, because of all the information leaks they had such as builds leaking, emails leaking, etc. They would kick anyone off the beta if you got caught leaking that stuff but now they are leaking this stuff on their own. The days of the real Windows beta tester are gone.

It's been quite dead on connect recently and no wonder considering how old beta build is now :/. If we don't even get free product key for RTM anymore then I won't bother participating Win 8 Beta.

Oh well, at least I got free hardware from Media Center team.

I don't think they will give us RTM keys but definitely they will give us RC keys.

Hi guys,

Just wondering... is leaked Win 7 Build 7100 the supposed to be RC? or there will be a different version on 5th may which is the official RC date.

it is the same version.

just the way it did happen for the beta release when it got leaked few days earlier

Yes... obviously...

Um yea, if you do require further explanation... I had 2 thread windows open, and was posting a reply, and did it in the.. wrong thread...

No, no further explanation needed. Obviously your reference is to the fact that you *posted* in the wrong thread. Really though...what else could you possibly mean here?? I fail to see so other reasonable way that this could be interpreted.

Oh. I did not know that. I don't think that will happen this time. We will be getting RC keys 100% though!

It's an unnecessary time and effort for MS to distribute new keys. Simplicity is key, so MS gave out those volume license keys for beta and they still work for RC. I am sure MS did this knowing it would get leaked and bittorrent saves them bandwidth costs in the long run.

    • Most boring game ever. Repetitive, empty, predictable, and full of cliches. Total waste of time and money, IMO.
    • Mafia: The Old Country expansion Man of Honor announced, brings back Salieri from original by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe During Summer Game Fest, 2K and Hanger 13 brought out a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer, revealing the game's first expansion. Named Man of Honor, this is slated to add two new chapters to the Enzo storyline that the game follows. There is an iconic character returning to the series with this expansion, with players set to run into Ennio Salieri, the future Don of the Salieri crime family. Fans of the original Mafia, or its Definitive Edition remake, may remember that name as one of the biggest characters in the storyline. This expansion is set prior to his rise to being the kingpin in the City of Lost Heaven. "Set in Sicily during the winter of 1905, Enzo Favara has proven himself a reliable soldier of the Torrisi crime family in the months since his initiation," says the studio about the new chapters. "Now, the Don entrusts him and Cesare with a delicate assignment of assisting Ennio Salieri, a man of honor recently released from prison and intent on reclaiming what is his." Working at Salieri's side, players will be heading into fresh environments as they return to the role of Enzo as a high-ranking soldato. The studio also promises brand-new weapons, fresh vehicles, and charms to collect in this expansion. Moreover, the expansion will add new content to the updated Free Ride mode. Alongside new collectibles and locations, this will add more challenges to beat alongside Salieri, which are described as runs that will "test the skills of even the most elite mafiosi." The Mafia: The Old Country Man of Honor story expansion will release on August 14, 2026, across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. It will cost $10 for owners of the base game to jump into.

    • Telltale returns with The Wolf Among Us, re-revealing the sequel and a new remaster by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Telltale Games, the studio known for its episodic games from the 2000s, had a surprise appearance at the Summer Game Fest showcase today. The studio has gone through a collapse, an acquisition, and a revival but has largely gone silent in recent years. Today's sudden announcement was for the popular The Wolf Among Us series, with news about the sequel and a remaster dropping. Set after the events of the 2013-released title, the sequel will bring back Biby Wolf for a new adventure in Fabletown. This town of fairy tale characters is becoming unstable, with Snow White not being able to keep order as before. "When a brutal series of crimes threatens to fracture the fragile balance holding Fabletown together, Bigby Wolf, sheriff of Fabletown, finds himself drawn into a dangerous conspiracy that reaches deep into the city’s criminal underworld," says the studio. "As suspicion spreads across the city and powerful forces work against him, Bigby must uncover the truth and decide what kind of sheriff - and what kind of wolf - he is willing to become." At the same time, Telltale also announced The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing back the classic with a fresh coat of paint. This will include all five episodes from the original game plus over an hour of extra content that will offer behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes. The remaster will also have updated visuals and improved UI elements and accessibility features, alongside upgrades to the animations, audio, and frame rates. Telltale has been working on this project for almost a decade now, but if the new release schedule holds, fans will be able to jump into The Wolf Among Us 2 sometime in 2027. As for The Wolf Among Us Remastered, this is slated to release during this holiday season.
