-Multiplayer co-op for 3 players. Different story than single player. Zones/actions in the map required for 2/3 players. Mini bosses in each section. Players will revive after a few seconds (less if the other players help to revive)

-Deathmatch. 4vs4 you can choose two skills. And you need to explore like in Uncharted 1 to find the strongest weapons.

-Capture the treasure, is like CTF. 4vs4 trying to steal treasures from the enemy base.

Heads up: PS3 fans should be getting some good updates on Uncharted 2, MAG, etc. starting tomorrow.

More info as it arises.

Oh wow, that looks great :D I wanted to see more of the pretty snow, though :(

They'll be videos and stuff later today probably. There has been no official unveiling of any SP footage yet, just screenshots.

So glad Co-Op is separate from the SP campaign, Uncharted is best played alone :)

Cant wait for some new uncharted info, some gameplay footage would be nice.

Then you’ll want to drop by the blog at about 9am tomorrow (Pacific).

Translated impressions of Multiplayer modes

It was then that we had to leave our drinks on one hand to grab the nearest DUALSHOCK 3 and be amazed to witness a game with graphics that almost two levels above anything else we have seen before. But not everything that glitters is not gold, or so we think, fortunately we were wrong and were coupled with a more cooperative modes of addictive and interesting we've played. These are our impressions of the multiplayer modes of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

The gameplay is very similar to that seen in Gears of Wars 2. The perspective is third person and you can cover the crossfire with almost any object in the scene, which is vital. You can only carry two weapons and grenades responsibilities. Perhaps here there is nothing revolutionary, but when we fall in mind that there are certain places that required the cooperation of the two or three characters to perform very specific actions, it's a bit where the screams begin. "Hey, where are you. We need you here, you can hurry, do not reach the wall without your help, and I am caught between the crossfire. " Socialization in the purest style gamers.

Although each time one of the three dies have to wait several seconds, which seem eternal, to reappear in the game, the team partner can help to cut down the waiting time considerably. Also note that enemies are stronger and better armed emerging as a small "heads" between sections.

The organization of the three players is very important to contain the evil of the game and the action is frantic, very coordinated felt certain order among so many bullets and giving the players a break to switch weapons and reload ammunition.

I have no doubt that this will be one of the strongest points of Uncharted 2 as not only came to conform to fashion, but has made similar attempts and an extremely high degree of addiction. The next time you hear that three are many, have not played is that the cooperative mode of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

The classic Deathmatch mode is present. I think that there is no multiplayer game that does not have among its options. The map allowed us to play four against four ways and was quite fun, but generic. Each player can select up to two attributes from a variety of options for our character to specialize and excel in these skills. This is also exploring, as it has been since the first Uncharted only here that we use to reach certain types of weapons, items and to strategically position ourselves and take advantage over the opposing team.

True, everyone has a similar way, but it is a proven system and that the new elements of Uncharted 2 will give some fresh air. The interesting thing, from my point of view, it will be resolved as analysing the designs of the maps when the game comes out for sale.

The name comes from Plunder otherwise tested. Is but one Flag Capture spiced with elements that Indiana Jones would feel at home. Teams of four try to steal treasures and relics of the team and bring them to their base. Of the three methods, was less fun, perhaps due to the slow to appear on stage after a death, or that all those who played were very good and I very bad. Either way is present and the stage was designed with elements that allowed long-distance shot, hide and plan to trap opponents. After failing with my team on several occasions in this way, I decided that mine is not to take it outside.

Graphically the game looks creepy, lighting is the highlight as we see constantly everywhere leftovers to the degree that we think is the most normal thing without thinking of the calculations in real time that are taking place at that time. The textures in high resolution, coupled with some very well done animations help make the game a visual feast, but those who do not empacho.

Still take months for the final version of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, even we were eager to test how a player, but as we have seen and played is that we were excited and very high expectations. I hope people do not get out of Naughty Dog guards.

Those nametags looks like they were added in post-processing.

As for the screenshot themselves, what's the point in some confusing, dark screenshots at some crazy cinematic angle, doesn't really give you an idea of the multiplayer atmosphere. At least do them from the angle we'll be seeing as a player. That aside, it's looking okay so far - Hopefully this will keep me hooked through the entire game, unlike the first one.

Holy Sh*t, i haven't actually looked at any screens shots till now, i can't believe how good the graphics in this game are!

SP looks a bit better than that even, understandably as MP usually takes a dip.

Only footage we have so far, it's leaked from GDC, not direct :( We should have some proper game footage later today.

Loving a new feature we added to Uncharted 2 a few weeks ago. Thanks Michiel from Guerrilla Games and Alex from @insomniacgames!
The new feature has to do with the way in which we render the graphics. It really helps the overall impression. We'll give details later.

Looks like some tech sharing :)

Uncharted 2 to Include Multiplayer, Beta Starts June 3rd

So the rumors are true and we can finally talk about it! As you?ve heard and read, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves will have both competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes.

We managed to keep the secret completely safe for over a year and a half, but right in the home stretch before the embargo lifted today, word got out all over the internet. Of course the leaked info was only the tip of the iceberg and there is a ton of coverage being released today on dozens and dozens of websites. So, pick your favorite videogame news site and go check out the coverage from our event last week. If print magazines are your thing, we?ve gotten word that we?ll also be in more than a few magazines around the world in the next few weeks.

If you?ve been looking closely at our interviews, our team here at Naughty Dog has been growing rapidly and we now have quite a few more Dogs on staff than when work finished on UNCHARTED: Drake?s Fortune. It shouldn?t be a surprise that we had to grow our studio to tackle the task of creating fully-realized multiplayer and co-op modes that would live up to our own high standards and do the UNCHARTED universe justice. I?m incredibly proud at the excellent work our team has done so far and it shows in the solid gameplay and incredible polish of the little slice we showed press last week. And if you?re dying to get your own hands on it, don?t worry, we?re having a multiplayer beta! It starts on June 3rd and you can get access to it through vouchers in inFamous, which goes on sale May 26th.

We?ll be back soon to talk more about our single player campaign ? don?t think for a second we?ve forgotten about that! The rest of our team at Naughty Dog has been hard at work pushing our engine to its limits while creating a campaign that is more expansive and more ambitious than UNCHARTED: Drake?s Fortune. They?ve even learned a few tricks from our multiplayer and co-op development ? truly a win-win situation as all aspects of UNCHARTED 2 are benefiting from the work we?re putting into both single player and multiplayer modes.

Oh, wait! Before you leave check out a multiplayer trailer we just f

Altogether, though, it looks like Uncharted 2 multiplayer incorporates a lot of what makes the single player gameplay so appealing--that combination of measured firefights and freewheeling acrobatics--in a competitive setting. The unlockable boosters should add some longevity, too, though it would be a stretch to say you'll see as much staying power as games such as Killzone 2 or Resistance 2 have. Still, Uncharted 2's multiplayer seems like a worthwhile option for PS3 owners looking for a different form of online shooter. You can expect plenty more coverage on Uncharted 2 leading up to its late-2009 release. In the meantime, you can snag yourself a code to access the upcoming public multiplayer beta by picking up a copy of fellow first-party Sony game Infamous.

IGN Preview

Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves multiplayer madness. Naughty Dog was sure to stress that there are going to be other modes and a number of co-op missions, but the examples you just read about were all the team was prepared to show. Honestly, I had always been a bit mixed on the idea of multiplayer in Uncharted; I liked the idea of the franchise being a solid single-player experience and nothing else. Still, co-op is a blast and I'm thankful it is its own entity so that the single-player portion can thrive and not be tied to having to have a friend playing to get the full story. Meanwhile, competitive multiplayer is fun, too, but I'm going to need to play more before I get crazy excited about it. Everything looked great visually, but the mode never really had the Uncharted feel to it for me.

Anxious to get your hands on Uncharted 2's multiplayer? Well, you can keep checking IGN for news and previews, but if you buy one of the first copies of Infamous, Sucker Punch's new superhero game, you'll get a voucher code for Uncharted 2's multiplayer beta packed right in with it. Electricity-based abilities and Nathan Drake craziness? Sweet.

Hands-On With Uncharted 2 Multiplayer, 3-Player Coop

uncharted_2_multiplayer_pre.jpg

Last week, the addition of multiplayer to Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was still a surprise to much of the video game press attending Sony's PlayStation Gamers' Day. Naughty Dog's reveal was almost perfect.

After inviting us downstairs to the mezzanine of the Andaz Hotel, Naughty Dog president Evan Wells told the crowd that they'd prepared a new trailer for Uncharted 2?all the introduction really needed at that point. The trailer began with a third-person view oUnchartedi>'s Nathan Drake, sprinting toward a dilapidated building, assault rifle in hand.

Finding footholds and jutting bricks, Drake showed off his refined terrain traversal, climbing the half-decimated wall, then pulling himself up to the building's second floor. In the distance, nine players with their PlayStation Network IDs floating above their heads. Cut to a montage of five versus five deathmatch and everyone in attendance gets a little more excited about what they're about to go hands on with.

Last week, it was a secret well-kept. And you could see it in the grins on the faces of the Naughty Dog team.

Drinks and attempts at appearing polite were dropped as quickly as Naughty Dog said it was time to play. So we speed-walked as nonchalantly as possible toward an open machine and we played. First up?DeathmatchDeathmatchUncharted 2: Among Thieves' take on deathmatch, which is capped at five players per side, doesn't appear to break new ground in team-based multiplayer. It's rather standard stuff, with weapons scattered about each arena, maps customized from single-player levels to fit a multiplayer play style, and a goal to shoot them before they shoot you. You'll play as one of five Heroes, including Drake, Chloe, and Sully, or one of the black-suited mercenaries, the Villains.

But the deathmatch rule set, when appliedUncharted's mechanics, works beautifully. Gunplay worked well enough in the origiUncharted: Drake's Fortune, and it works better than that here.

Players need to take advantage of cover, hiding behind brick walls, firing blindly when it's needed. You'll have a tactical advantage hiding out of sight?recovering health while you're doing so?or traversing the environment to get to higher ground. Platforming works to your advantage. But that top-down perspective on the deathmatch arena has a risk tied to it?you've got to climb, exposing yourself to enemy fire.

The arsenal is pretty standard stuff too. There are assault rifles, pistols, sniper rifles and a very deadly, easy to dominate with chain gun. Rocket launchers and grenades will add some explosive fun to the mix, as will the game's melee kills. If you're a little too close for comfort, two butts from your AK will do the trick. But if you manage to grab your opponent from behind, one quick, neck-snapping melee attack will do the job faster.

Deathmatch (and other multiplayer modes) add a bit more depth with a skills system that will quickly remiCall of Duty 4Duty 4's "perks.Uncharted 2rted 2, unlockable abilities will let players have better accuracy with rifles while running, for example, or perform better while blind firing. Two skill slots are available, but no single bonus attribute that we saw looked to hint at unbalance.

There's also a currency system that Naughty Dog wasn't quite yet ready to speak on, but we do know that it permeates both single and multiplayer mode, and smells a heck of a lot like an experience/skill-buying systeUncharted 2rted 2's deathmatch appears to be very meat and potatoes, based on the two arenas we played through in multiple games, but meat and potatoes are popular for a reason.

http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/04/uncharted_2_plunder.jpPlunderluUncharted 2rted 2's Plunder mode is a nicely-named Capture The Flag mode, one that takes its treasure hunting theme into consideration. Plunder carries over much of what makes the game's deathmatch mode enjoyable, adding extra teamwork into the mix.

The goal is straightforward: find the hidden treasure, typically a large gold idol, then carry it back to base. Yep, that's Capture The Flag, alright.

The rub in Plunder is that while one's holding the treasure, your character will walk slower?gold is heavy, by the way?and be unable to shoot anything other than a pistol. But if things get hairy, you can throw the treasure. In fact, you can pass it to another player, speeding up the process. In fact, Naughty Dog reps say, in some playtests they've set up "fire bucket brigade" lines, grabbing the gold, then heaving it from team member to team member, avoiding that whole walking thing.

Plunder, as we played it, was a best of three affair. I'd expect other game options will be open to you when the game ships.

http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/04/uncharted_2_cooCo-op

Uncharted 2ncharted 2 does coop one-better, belying its "2" with three-person cooperative online play. Coop doesn't necessarily follow the single-player storyline, offering an alternative way to play the game, something that feels even more action intensive than what solo play has to offer.

Enemies will come at your three person team?which consisted of Drake, Chloe and Sully in the level we played?from all sides. Progression may be forward (and upward), but heavily armed mercs will spawn from any available opening, flanking you, shootingThey just don't stop coming.t stop coming.

That makes some of your goals extremely challenging. You'll need to cooperatively traverse and alter the environment, giving other players a boost to street signs they can't reach without your help, lending a hand when all three need to lift a heavy bureau.

Teammates will be able to revive their downed partners as well as rescue them from the clutches of bad guys, so the three-way buddy system looks to be fully explored.

While cooperative platforming and terrain traversal may not sound like the online thrill you've been looking for, the intensity of the gunplay should more than make up for it. That's particularly true when mid-level bosses show up, guys decked out in full body armor, armed with those massive chain guns we mentionUncharted 2Uncharted 2 looks like it won't be slouching in the "shoot guys in the face (and often)" department, the run and gun action in coop play looks like it will be a serious challenge, one that will require everyone on your team is sporting a Bluetooth headset. I say that because I did. A lot.

The addition of multiplayeUnchartede Uncharted series may have given fans of the original game's single-player mode pause (or cause to whine on the video game forum of their choice), we have to mention that this addition is already a welcome one. At least from a multiplayer perspective, Naughty Dog looks to have nailed it, based on our hands-on time with the game.Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Among Thieves online components will likely draw comparisons to another multiplayeGears of War 2Gears of War 2. And that's not such a bad thing, considering how popular that game continues to be online, many months after its release. The feel and visual aestUnchartedy Uncharted, however, and we think that Naughty Dog might have a multiplayer hit on its hands.

So basically they copied Gears of War multiplayer this time around, not just the single player? Gotcha.

Such a pessimist lol. And the answer to your question is no. Go read Eurogamer's article.

Can't wait for this :D sounds better everytime there's news about it. Not a big fan of 3rd person multiplayer (e.g. Warhawk...so annoyed I wasted ?20 on that lol), but definitely willing to give the geniuses at Naughty Dog a chance:))

We'll need to wait and see if it's broken as hell at launch eh?
