First info and screens of Uncharted 2 multiplayer and co-op

Recommended Posts

Every single detail they have released was done in GoW 1, they've even gone to the trouble of choosing 5v5 in MP from GoW2 too.

Broken or not, right now it's a carbon copy. Sorry, you can't brush it off guys, try, but you aint foolin' no one!

I'm not even defending GoW2's MP because as most know I think it does suck after they botched it up. That doesn't excuse ND just ripping the whole game off though.

I was going to say I can see similarities to Killzone 2 in some pictures then saw that they are sharing some tech from the devs.

I await to see more info though.

Yeah the motion blur from Killzone 2 most definitely looks shared!

I wouldn't say it's a copy of Gears 2, in fact I see very few similarities apart from the obvious ones.

What I do like though is the clear influence the architecture and environment will have in the game. The ability to climb and scale buildings to gain an advantage over your foes and subsequently tussle for those positions is a really neat feature.

No seriously, all those details released in AB's reply earlier, every one of them is in GoW1/2. Slight changes with the co-op possibly, depends what they have in mind. Cover system was already "taken" in Uncharted 1, now the MP is the same, the co-op is just horde renamed.

The only differences here are characters, setting and instead of capturing the leader in GoW1/2, you capture treasure. Of course CTF wasn't done in GoW first, although Epic games pretty much perfected the mode long ago. I await the announcement of chain saws, flame throwers and grenade tagging..

Bob_c_b, keep shrugging it off, its an accurate observation I've made. Keep QQ though (Y)

Confirms the shields from SP will make it into MP also

You need to sound just a bit more bitter then we'll have hit the sweet spot ;)

You can't really blame them though, Gears of War was very successful, so it's a great source to rip off from. Probably also the reason why I found Uncharted mind numbingly boring, Gears of War was mind numbingly boring too ... Run, cover, shoot, repeat.

This topics about Uncharted 2, well saying who's the few trying to derail it eh?

News just in, any games with Co-Op or Shields owe royalties to Epic! ;)

I wouldn't say it's a copy of Gears 2, in fact I see very few similarities apart from the obvious ones.

Same here, minus the cover system, which in that case every third person now is a rip-off, I really do not see it either.

Also it is not even like Gears invented the cover system, they just made it really good, so if you want to get technical, they ripped it off too.

But the gameplay, gun-play, etc. from Gears to uncharted is not even close.

In fact I feel Uncharted borrowed more from Tomb Raider than Gears, and I do not even think there was much they completely ripped off there either...

Dark Sector to me was a complete rip of Gears, roadie run and all. Hell, Dark Sector could have been a mod for Gears it ripped it off so hard.

So yeah, while a lot of this MP sounds like aspects of Gears, to call Uncharted a carbon copy of Gears based on the first game and the announcement of some multiplayer modes, I just completely disagree with, along with some others obviously.

The very fact you guys are just brushing it off just shows you know I'm spot on. Not saying other games haven't had these features, but when all of them are in the same game it's pretty ridiculous

Uncharted of War 2 ftw eh! =)

@DL, ah I forgot about the Tomb Raider similarities  ah, I've made my point.

Gameplay wise I don't see how this is closer to Tomb Raider, not by a long shot. Tomb Raider is a more slow paced, cumbersome game and this is a fast paced, run & gun shooter with a snap-lock cover system, which just screams Gears of War. Actually, Gears of War is the only game that comes to mind when I played Uncharted, they are so similar! Even when reading various user opinions from both camps, the Uncharted / Gears of War comparison is always lurking right beneath the surface.

The only way Uncharted is in any way, shape or form similar to Tomb Raider, it's the 'story' and the 'motive' of the entire game and the jungle settings, which does remind you of the TR games but gameplay wise, GoW.

As for derailing, we're in a Uncharted topic discussing something related to the game, how it shares a lot of similarities with another game - How is that derailing? Are we only supposed to go "Uhhhh, aaahhh", "Nice screenshots!!11" and "OMG BETA! :o" I don't think we ever rolled like that around here, why change now?

It's interesting how you're the only 2 fighting to give a crap about spamming Gear of War 2 all over this Uncharted Multiplayer/Co-Op topic, no? ;) Insecure much because Uncharted 2 is adding multiplayer? I mean what the hell do you want them to add multiplayer wise to a TPS? They've not even announced all the game modes and say there is more to come, you all miss that part of the interviews you should be reading in here? The immediate GoW butthurt was just stupid, the games share similar mechanics but they are far from carbon copies  Anyone who has genuinely played both of them will know that.

I guess the rest of us care more about reading about how good these multiplayer additions are to a game that was SP only first time around. It will go some way to making a retail price more justifiable if Uncharted 2 is around the same length as Uncharted, which is what most of us probably care about the most, not screaming bloody murder and racing to pride GoW2 "superiority" or "this game done it first, pay it all the attention!".

I never bought Uncharted 2 for RRP, I got it for ?20 like a year later. If MP is decent and Co-Op fun I'll buy it on release this time. They've already got me interested making Co-Op separate, I still want my Uncharted SP experience, and quite frankly Co-Op campaign for Uncharted just wouldn't work - Levels are too heavily scripted on verticality and platforming.

Anyway, you can now throw explosive barrels instead of just shoot them!:woot::

Yeah, so sorry AB for being one of the few members left who still speaks his mind and doesn't buy into everything Sony says. I'm very sorry we can't all be sheeps just following the rest of the flock, replying with "Oh nice" and "Can't wait". Oh yes I had the nerves to say the game still reminds me a bit too much of Gears of War. Where have I said I wanted them to completely change it, where have I said them ripping off GoW bothers me eternally? I said a few posts back, it was a great source to get some gameplay ideas considering GoW's popularity but I didn't like Gears of War and I hated Uncharted due to being Gears of War in another suit, just as repetitive.

I'm not asking them to change, not asking them to do ****, just brought up an opinion on the game that I've had ever since the first game.

So now you can stop feeling butthurt just because I decided to share my opinion. Also, we're some who like to play games and make up our own opinions, not scour the internet and read articles dry just to make up our opinion then 6 months after release going "Oh I haven't tried the game yet." We play them, we make up our opinions when we have it in our grubby hands and until then, it won't get my juices flowing nor will I buy into all this usual gaming press hype and Neowin GH hype because it doesn't deserve it, yet(?).

I would barely call Uncharted run and gun fast paced, in-fact I thought it was much more slow and deliberate when it comes to the actual shooting aspect of it... The fast paced parts were the rail shooters, but I remember fighting at most about 10-15 people at any one time in Uncharted... Just totally different gameplay than Gears IMO...

Uncharted also had its fair share of Platforming and Puzzle based gameplay... neither of which rings Gears at all to me... and again is like Tomb Raider... So that is two clear shape and forms it is similar to Tomb Raider...

So we all have opinions on the game obviously, but man I could not disagree with this take at all...

In all fairness though, I did always describe the game to people who never played it as Gears meets Tomb Raider... I am not saying it is not like Gears, just saying every third person game can be compared to Gears and I do not feel it is a similar experience playing the two games.

I never said GoW was superior, now you're just putting words in my mouth to fuel your own arguments. Not to mention I have played both games so I am more than capable of drawing a comparison. Insecure? Not at all, I'm a hardcore gamer I buy games no matter what the system is. If you really want to discredit me, put some frickin' effort in dude.

I've gave a comparison and I can back it up. It's more than any of you can say who have so far shrugged it off. I'm all for U2 including mutliplayer, I am a mutliplayer gamer the majority of the time. It has nothing to do with insecurity, I just want to pay for something original or I may as well sit down to GoW2 again. Paying ?40 for something already done? Yeah, why wouldn't I speak up or care.

:rolleyes::

Also another classic case where I speak my mind about something and everyone just cries telling me to shut up. I've put across a discussion and comparison and you complain. Had I just said it sucks and not gone into detail "wah wah wah I want a discussion". Make your mind up!

The first 3/4 of Uncharted I had to do fairly slow gunplay or I'd be gunned down, the AI is good. Constant cover and pot shots at the enemy.

The last 1/4 changes things around and encourages you to run & shoot from the hip when facing the zombie things. They were too fast to attack you to sit back behind cover and pot shot them.

That's my take on the pace of the game anyway.

Here's what you're missing, you're comparing a released game, GoW2, to a MP portion of a game NONE of us have played yet, NONE of us know all the components of and ALL of us have JUST seen uncovered for the first time with a few scraps of details.

Yet your first post was telling us all Uncharted 2 is now a carbon copy of GoW2.

There is why people get annoyed and it looks like an agenda is on the cards.

    • So, recently, I saw on the news (yes, on this website) that Samsung is introducing features where it can provide education using AI-powered sets, and because of this, I got concerned about whether the AI gives out wrong info during education sessions, causing controversies in the process. What are your thoughts on this?
    • TCL's Bang & Olufsen soundbar is 40% off on Amazon by Ivan Jenic The TCL Design Series A65K is currently $299.99, down from $499.99. That's 40% off and $200 saved on a soundbar tuned by Bang & Olufsen, which is not a combination you'd normally expect at this price point (purchase link below). Bang & Olufsen doesn't typically show up in the sub-$500 category. The Danish audio brand is known for speakers that cost several times more, so having their acoustic tuning on a $300 soundbar is very appealing. TCL handles the hardware, B&O handles the sound engineering, and the result is what the company calls "accessible luxury." Still, accessible luxury isn’t full-fledged luxury, so don’t expect wonders. But this is a decent soundbar, nevertheless. The A65K is a true 3.1.2 channel system with nine physical drivers, including genuine up-firing height speakers for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Many soundbars at this price simulate overhead effects through virtual processing, rather than actual hardware. So, you’re getting the real deal. The design is unusually slim for a system with Atmos compatibility. The bar is just under 2 inches deep and should fit beneath most TV screens. The wireless subwoofer is also compact at roughly 14 x 14 x 5 inches. Total output is 460W, and you can connect to the soundbar via HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.3, or USB. There are also eight sound modes through the TCL Home app and an AI calibration capability. Although it’s worth mentioning that AI capabilities in most of these devices are inconsistent, to say the least, and that shouldn’t be the biggest selling point. Still, at $299.99, the A65K is a strong buy for anyone who wants a soundbar that sounds and looks noticeably better than what this price range usually offers. And the Bang & Olufsen branding surely sounds nice - pun intended.
