Hashes can be easy calculated using the HashTab Explorer plugin. It works fine in any build, including 7100

It even gives you a convenient option to compare hashes.

it's only a few days away, might as well just wait to get it from the real source...

Exactly. Why bother with unofficial when official public release is days away? I won't be wasting my time.

How can we check our MD5 hash keys?

This thread has me worried now and im sure there might be a few more people who are going to ask how to check as well...

Another good program that I like is hash tab.

Meh Lord Ba'al beat me to it.

Yup my x64 iso checks out according to those hashes. :) Thanks Lord Ba'al

Odd.... 7100 must not be the RC according to this logic since I upgraded from 7000 to 7100 just fine and all my hashes match the that of the ones for the original iso.

I believe that the "original" ISO actually had an edited file changing the minimum upgradable version

Stuff like this tarnishes torrents' reputation of efficiently distributing large disc images. Obvious solution is to get the torrent header file from a trusted source (for instance, Canonical's servers if you were to get a copy of Ubuntu), but that won't hold with large corporations like MS.

I did run across this same problem in an earlier leaked build. Lesson learned: check to make sure setup.exe has a digital signature intact before burning or copying to a USB drive.

Torrents are a good source, the problem is the idiots that use the hype as a means of transmitting Viruses. Just goes to show that you need to be really careful with anything you download from illegal sources. However I would agree that with leaked builds there is always the danger they can be tampered with, odd that the X86 edition hasn't been targeted

Is the 7100 the real RC? If so, better wait for the offical one. Some people can't wait, besides it's only a few hundreds of MB worth of difference from what build your could be still using. I'm still on 7057.

What the specs requirements for a 64bit? I've been downloading 32bit versions, afraid that my much too customized Firefox and Thunderbird might not work under 64bit.

Crap - I have definatley learnt my lesson with this one - I downloaded that hash plugin and my version had different things for the x64 version :(

MD5 Hash was 1C2AE249E6754E33D0FDD6CA07127D7B

SHA1 Hash was 2B3A10785F77E7E6D46B7134E8EE807E9F7337E7

and CRC32 was D84794E3

:( I feel cheated now!

Booting from ISO after a cold restart - that should mean the setup.exe was skipped correct?

If your problem is bookmarks etc just get XMarks (ex-Foxmarks). Works wonders, makes transitions and re-formatting easy.

On a different note, do you guys think its possible for the official 5th May RC to have newer internal drivers/hardware support? Or it'll definitely be 100% identical to current leaked one?

I would hope that come May 5th, the RC released would be a newer build then this one, considering alot of people are complaining about blue screens and minor bugs like the exe one in explorer. If those two were fixed id say 7 is a go for RTM :)

Nah I don't use bookmarks very much. I can live without some bookmarks I have now. I have a html file with all the links on it of all sites I visit.

Honestly, I don't think its hard for to find a legit release as long as you don't go a click the first download you see. Always research the comments before you download. But of course, checking the MD5 is the most definite way to be sure before installing.

    • First time clicking on a Sayan Sen article after he started making clickbait, vague headlines recently. Didn't read, just came here to say the headline doesn't look like very cheap, vague clickbait this time. Are you okay?
    • Good review, and yeah the benchmark breakdown is pretty clear but also a little messy in a good way. It’s kinda interesting to see where the RX 9070 GRE slides in between the 7800 XT and the 9070 XT , especially when it comes to AI tasks and Blender style workloads. The side by side with Nvidia’s RTX 5070 and 4070 makes it feel obvious just how competitive the mid range GPU scene has gotten lately, and that’s great for creators and gamers too since you can pick based on your priorities rather than only chasing one single thing.
    • That's it. I finally uninstalled Firefox because they often keep pushing buggy updates, only to test them later and make users suffer. No longer is it my alternative browser to Edge. What a waste of energy. Firefox is bad for the environment, just like Chrome (wasting RAM/energy).

A newly published blog post details what IT admins should do to prepare for the upcoming launch. Next, we have new Windows 11 bugs. Users report that this month's security updates for Windows 11 cause all sorts of issues, including BitLocker bugs, OneDrive issues, black screens of death, and third-party integration in Office apps. Microsoft has not confirmed those yet, but it acknowledged other issues with its operating system. What Microsoft has confirmed is a bug where Recycle Bin delete prompts display internal file names instead of actual ones, and a year-old Windows JScript compatibility bug caused by security-focused engine changes. Moving to more positive news, Microsoft and Adobe are working on improving Windows performance in popular creative apps like Photoshop. Thanks to SPGO optimizations, users can expect up to 20% better performance. Finally, we have a few useful articles that can help you recover your PC or make it perform better. For one, we published a guide detailing what to do if your computer cannot boot after a clean Windows 11 install. There are two important steps you can try to get your system back to working in no time. Additionally, there is a more detailed guide on various CPU performance modes that could notably improve performance. This week, Microsoft announced its newest Surface devices powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X2 processors. There is the 12th-gen Surface Pro and the 8th-gen Surface Laptop. The Surface Laptop also received a new haptic trackpad. Mozilla is currently working on a major Firefox redesign, and earlier this week, it published a roadmap of upcoming features and highlights of the upcoming "Project Nova" rework. Reviews are in Here is the hardware and software we reviewed this week Earlier this week, we reviewed the DuRoBo Krono, a portable, phone-sized e-reader with some interesting physical controls. This device has an Apple Watch-like dial for page turning, frontlight adjustment, and more. Software is simple and no-nonsense, but it also lacks some useful features and customization. Overall, the device proved interesting, but not flawless. On the gaming side Learn about upcoming game releases, Xbox rumors, new hardware, software updates, freebies, deals, discounts, and more. Forza Horizon 6 received two big updates this week. Alongside the Series 2 content update, developers pushed plenty of bug fixes and balancing tweaks. However, they also had to acknowledge the Eliminator CR-farming exploit and shut down the online mode temporarily. Luckily, only a few days later, another fix arrived, which re-enabled Eliminator and patched the exploit. Microsoft announced new games for Game Pass subscribers.
