swapping drive info and data

Recommended Posts

i have 2 hds, 1 maxtor 15gig, 1 IBM 40 gig 7200rpm ata100.. the max was is my master with the os and installed apps, the ibm is a slave with saved programs and data.. what i would like is to take the info from teh max and put on the ibm and make it my master.. im gonna remove the max and toss it into my wifes puter (hers failed). How can i do this and what software do i need? i tried using PQ and copied the partitions but the drives are messed up after.( i even renamed then after, big mistake). any suggestions aside from re-installing everything?

If you don't want to lose what's on the IBM, you're gonna have to use a program like Partition Magic and create 2 partitions so that you can put the stuff that is on the drive to the 2nd partition so that you can put the stuff that is on the maxtor on the 1st partition. After that you need a program called Norton Ghost and it's pretty straight forward and easy.
