Gran Turismo 5 to Be Previewed in OPM UK Next Month

There are many winds blowing in the air right now, and every one of them is telling its own tale.

First wind whispers that final reunion will happen thirty nights before twelve months pass and that all winds from the whole world will reunite in the same moment for the first time.

Second wind says there will be more than half of dozen hundreds birds flying in the beginning of the reunion on almost eight dozen of skypaths, and some of the birds will come from the past reunion just resembling the looks of the newborn birds.

Third tale says that for the first time ever skypaths will not be just solid and already known but that new skypaths will be built by birdtamers from the parts of existing skypaths.

Fourth wind is talking that birdtamers will reunite in numbers greater than ever and will be granted with ability to talk to each other, make guilds and alliances with undisputed freedom.

Fifth wind says that reunion will happen in two forms, one greater than other and birdtamers will have freedom to decide which reunion they will attend. Greater reunion will ask for great sacrifice to be made in order to get all present and future treasures without new sacrifices needed, while smaller reunion will come in form already known, asking for more sacrifices if future treasures catches the eyes of the birdtamers.

Sixth wind is telling the tale about different reunion but almost the same as known one, smaller only for the eyes of those who do not want to see it in its whole glory. That different reunion will not happen in the realm same as the known one, but in the different realm which still has not been uncovered to the birdtamers. That realm will resemble realm already known but it will be divine new and made in the image of it.

Gran Turismo for the new PSP Go will become Gran Turismo Mobile

All those birds, skypaths and birdtamers from all realms will unite for the Feast. And as it is already known, it will be the Feast of the Gods.

I'm not sure but people trust this guy as an insider from Sony or PD and he tells this poem or whatever you want to call it about GT5 release date and features. If you can decipher I'll give you a candy? ;) It's fairly obvious though what it says though.

Well one would think that it's 30 days before the end of year, which would give early December release date, which makes it quite possible that Play.com have a correct day :)

So how is it that you have such solid dates that are 09/25 then.

Here I'll try to explain it that makes more sense to me.

There are many winds blowing in the air right now, and every one of them is telling its own tale.

The are many information in the air right now and every one is claiming it's own story.

First wind whispers that final reunion will happen thirty nights before twelve months pass and that all winds from the whole world will reunite in the same moment for the first time.

First announcement of GT5 tells us that release of GT5 will happen 30 nights before 12 months expires from the first announcement of GT5 for PS3 (that's E3 2009) and the release will be simultaneous around the world at the same time. This means that it is 11 months from the E3 announcement. Which does indeed fall in May 2010. Some people say that it's March 2010 because this "poem" was made on April 18th and they thought it was 11 months from that date but whispers clearly means announcement.

Second wind says there will be more than half of dozen hundreds birds flying in the beginning of the reunion on almost eight dozen of skypaths, and some of the birds will come from the past reunion just resembling the looks of the newborn birds.

Second information tells us the story that 600 cars will be present in GT5 at the release date (but more will be available after the release - DLC style) and 96 tracks and that some tracks will come from the previous GT game just polished up and improved.

Third tale says that for the first time ever skypaths will not be just solid and already known but that new skypaths will be built by birdtamers from the parts of existing skypaths.

Third information tells that for the first time in Gran Turismo tracks will not be fixed but that users will be able to custom make tracks from existing ones.

Fourth wind is talking that birdtamers will reunite in numbers greater than ever and will be granted with ability to talk to each other, make guilds and alliances with undisputed freedom.

Fourth story says that users will be able to play multiplayer in greater number then ever and will be given the ability to talk to each other, make races and alliances as they wish. Clans/race leagues or however you want to call it.

Fifth info says that release will happen in 2 ways, one bigger then the other and users will have an option to choose. This most likely means that GT5 will come in 2 versions. Standard with less features and Collectors Edition or similar that will have all tracks and features. Those who buy standard edition will most likely have to buy DLC like tracks or cars or whatever if they find value. The Collector's Edition probably won't have all of the additional cars but they will get it for free when it comes available. That's the sacrifice part. You will pay more money for collector's edition and won't get everything at once but will get it for free.

Sixth story tells us that there will be a way to get GT5 in another way that is outside the platform of GT5 for PS3 that is still unknown to users but at the moment this "poem" was made GT5 for PSP was a secret. This 6th story means GT5 for PSP and even though it won't be in the full glory and graphics and features as GT5 it will still be fantastic on it's own platform and it will resemble GT5 for PS3. It is quite possible that this could mean that GT5 PSP could work with GT5 PS3 and allow people to race (but this is not really a part of this statement). Later when GT5 PSP was revealed it says that GT5 PSP will become Gran Turismo Mobile.

All those birds, skypaths and birdtamers from all realms will unite for the Feast. And as it is already known, it will be the Feast of the Gods.

All the cars, tracks and users/racers from both GT5 PSP and GT5 PS3 will be able to race each other and it will be truly godly experience. (see my comment one line above).

For the release date, it doesn't state when the 12 months start, logical one would be start of the year. "Whispers" is only mentioned once and it's part of the "The first accouncement..." part so there is no evidence to say that the 12 months count down starts then. Also, why would they say 30 days (1 month) before 12 months expire and not just say it's in 11 months?

Here I'll try to explain it that makes more sense to me.

that's the problem right there Boz, as what makes sense to you makes no sense to anybody else.

it's unbelievable how you twisted and turned that first wind to mean what you want it to mean...

exactly... i was thinking the same about the twelve months too. it surely refers to a calendar year (jan-dec).

For the release date, it doesn't state when the 12 months start, logical one would be start of the year.

Not really IMO.. if they wanted to say 12 months from the beginning of the year they would've said it:

First wind says that final reunion will happen thirty nights before twelve months pass and that all winds from the whole world will reunite in the same moment for the first time.

This would clearly mean that it would be coming out at the 11th month of the year.

To me whispers clearly means announcement and GT5 was announced officially at E3. Teaser trailer or however you want to call it. That's a whisper.

Final Reunion is obviously final release date

all winds from the whole world - means all territories around the world

will reunite in the same moment for the first time. - this means that they will get all for the first time in history of GT releases the same date.

exactly... i was thinking the same about the twelve months too. it surely refers to a calendar year (jan-dec).

Based on what? I explained why I interpret it the way I do. Tell me, what does whisper stand for? It's just there for decoration?

Ugh guys those cryptic rumours were posted months ago! (march I think). Search this forum I made a topic about them. And Amar is the most respected informant for GT. He called GT psp months before e3 as we now know from those rumours.

Going from when the rumours were posted the release worked as either december or march.

that's the problem right there Boz, as what makes sense to you makes no sense to anybody else.

That's only problem for you. Grow up.

Okay and? They were posted in late April before the announcements of GT5 PS3 and GT5 PSP. Obviously they will most likely turn out to be true.

So how is it that you have such solid dates that are 09/25 then.

play.com are stating that their release date is correct and has been confirmed. They have a release date of 27th November which makes it pretty close to 30 nights before 12 months pass.

To me whispers clearly means announcement and GT5 was announced officially at E3. Teaser trailer or however you want to call it. That's a whisper.

why do they CLEARLY mean announcements?? there's nothing clear about it... please explain in detail how you came to this conclusion.

Based on what? I explained why I interpret it the way I do. Tell me, what does whisper stand for? It's just there for decoration?

like Mike said, if it was 11 months away, why didn't they say 11 months. 12 months obviously has relevance, thus: 12 months = a year, a year = January to December. Simples.

That's only problem for you. Grow up.

i dont thinks it's just my problem from the sounds of it, but whatever.

also, before you start asking people to grow up, please read your own posts, they don't exactly exude maturity and logic.

Going from when the rumours were posted the release worked as either December or march.

I don't see any way of it coming out in December to be honest even if you go by 12 months from the date of the post. It still falls late march 2010. I don't know what was the reasoning behind December. Like 11 months and release is like Dec. 1st is that it? All responses pretty much said March 2010 or so, but I do think he was referring to the official announcement about GT5 for PS3 which was on E3.

I just don't really see how 09/25 would be then valid date, if you believe this guy.

But in any case, those features do sound cool if they are true.

Guys don't waste your time.

There are many winds blowing in the air right now, and every one of them is telling its own tale.

That was an introduction to the 6 "winds" posted below it yet Boz thought it was something that needs analysed...

His track record is probably worse than Pachters. That's not an insult, you do it to yourself making heavy handed predictions on Neowin all the time Boz. Saying things like you believe GT5 will have 12 cars on the track and run in 720p is part of what I'm talking about. It's not so much about an opinion, it's about making predictions frequently that go against all the evidence. How can you even predict GT5 will have only 12 cars/720p when prologue has 16 and runs in 1080p?

ruliweb_fr_24.jpg

French OPM is out in 6 days, not long to wait.

Also Amar confirmed 6th wind himself

Sixth wind is telling the tale about different reunion but almost the same as known one, smaller only for the eyes of those who do not want to see it in its whole glory. That different reunion will not happen in the realm same as the known one, but in the different realm which still has not been uncovered to the birdtamers. whose saying 09/25? sure that what sites used as placeholders... AB posted earlier it's now 27th Nov according to PLay.com.

i dont thinks it's just my problem from the sounds of it, but whatever.

also, before you start asking people to grow up, please read your own posts, they don't exactly exude maturity and logic.

Actually you should do that... My post was about features of the GT5 and your post was deciphering how I'm talking nonsense and I'm always wrong and literally how you know what everyone knows and I'm the only one who doesn't have a clue.

Don't you see what the problem is and who's posts are immature? So my logic is off the whack and I'm stupid and you are simply Einstein. Great. Please control your responses and discuss information instead of discussing my logic.

Me and mine?

Boz, seriously for a second, how can I respond to your posts without making point of your logic? all of your "facts" and opinions are products of your logic. i disagree with pretty much everything you said (which has been explained why in previous posts by me and others), but you seem to ignore everybody else's logic and only trust your own.

you never concede your arguments are sometimes weak, wrong, or even could be wrong. and imply that everybody else's arguments are wrong.

French OPM is out in 6 days, not long to wait.

I didn't claim it would run in 720p. I said I doubt they would be able to pull it out at 1080p at 60fps and that it might be likely to run at 720p. I don't know if it will run at 720p or 1080p. If they manage to do it at 1080p/60fps hats off to them considering they have to add damage and all other things they were noting.

I don't make definite predictions as if I know something others don't, and if I did I did it maybe once or twice (and mostly because I did have first hand info but turned out to be changed or something happened that I really didn't have any influence over). This was mostly about HD DVD and Blu-ray and the source was VP of Warner Brothers Home Entertainment division because I did a lot of work with them. Turned out they made arrangement on the same day and the situation turned out the way it turned out. I speculate just like anyone else. Doesn't make it true. It's an opinion. The fact that you might disagree or if I turned out to be wrong nothing to it. No? I'm sure you made predictions from the information you read and were wrong. This is not exclusive to me.

The reason I said 12 cars was because they've shown in the E3 video 12 cars and the screenshot you shown in the other topic had 12/12 cars. Is it possible that it might have more cars. Of course, I was just commenting based on the information I saw. Again, just an opinion.

GT5 Prologue did have 16 cars but GT5 Prologue probably won't have many things that GT5 will have so it does have some logic that they might introduce less cars and again after seeing the E3 video it shows 12 cars.

The Prologue engine is what GT5 is being produced on, having over 2 years to work on it won't take them back from 1080p/60FPS to 720p. The engine was doing 1080p/60FPS back in 2007. No the damage model wasn't included but the cars in Prologue are made by each individual car section being independent - That is what will power the damage modeling in GT5, these individual parts coming off. This is coming directly from a video interview with PD, not my imagination or predictions.

I thought you owned GT5P? If you did you'd know the large tracks done 16/16, smaller tracks 12/12.

It's a maximum of 16 cars on a track, not 16 cars on a track all the time.

Okay.. I see what you mean.. that does make sense..

The poem might've just been starting with First wind whispers.. as in first story announces that it will come 30 days prior to the end of 12 months. That would make sense.

So it could be December 1st in time for holidays.

So where do you get the 12 months will be after E3?

Well I didn't look at whisper as the start of the first announcement.. I looked it as an official announcement of the game not the announcement/whisper for the information presented in First Wind.

If it whisper meant announcement of the game it would be kind of E3 because that's where official GT5 teaser trailer was shown. So the game was officially announced. Makes sense? But I think you might actually be right. I can see what you meant it does make more sense.

The Prologue engine is what GT5 is being produced on, having over 2 years to work on it won't take them back from 1080p/60FPS to 720p.

You know what.. I just checked.. I know that they had to pinch something.. It's not true 1080p even for GT5: Prologue. It's upscaled. Now that explains why they could pull it off.

GT5 Prologue works in 1280x1080 and uses PS3 upscaling trick - by repeating some pixels in anamorphic picture to 1920x1080. So 50% upscale.(It's actually less than GT HD's 1440x1080)

1280x1080 and 2xAA

1280x720 and 4xAA

Confirmed by the same guy from Halo 3 resolution discovery (Quaz51).

"GT5 prologue demo is 1280x1080p (yamauchi know than in car game the vertical resolution is the most important for the visibility) but with MSAA 2x now ! it's a very good Compromise

they also very improved the display of grills and electric wires and aliasing problems (compare electric wires in GT-HD and in this demo, it's big big gap), the texture filtering is very clean and the HDR ligthing is awesome! All this in 60fps with 16 photorealistics cars, it's impressive the show room and the pit/garage is full 1920x1080 no AA"

We've known that for ages, but it's still 1080 horizontally.

Doesn't make it any less impressive considering the frame rate and cars on track at that resolution.

    • WhatsApp is getting usernames, and you can reserve your preferred one now by Fiza Ali Sharing your phone number isn't always something you want to do, especially with people you've just met. Whether it's someone from a class, a local community group, or a sports team chat, handing over your number can feel like giving away more personal information than necessary. That's exactly the problem WhatsApp is trying to solve with its upcoming usernames feature. The company has announced that users can now reserve a unique WhatsApp username ahead of the feature's wider rollout later this year. Once usernames become available, they'll let people connect without revealing their phone numbers. It's a change that makes a lot of sense for group chats. Right now, everyone in the group can see your phone number. With usernames enabled, that won't necessarily be the case when someone contacts you for the first time. WhatsApp says it's opening username reservations early because more than three billion people use the app, meaning plenty of people are likely to want the same usernames. Reserving one now gives users a better chance of securing the name they actually want before the feature launches more broadly. If your preferred username is already taken, WhatsApp will also offer a built-in username generator to suggest available alternatives. The feature isn't only aimed at individual users. Creators, businesses, and organisations will be able to claim the same username they already use on Instagram or Facebook, making it easier to keep a consistent identity across Meta's apps. Furthermore, privacy is a big part of how WhatsApp is introducing usernames. There won't be a public directory where people can browse or search for usernames. Instead, people will need to know your exact username before they can start a conversation with you. Additionally, users can also choose to enable a username key, which adds another layer of control by requiring people to enter that key before sending a message. Once the feature rolls out, people who choose to use a username will no longer have their phone number shown when messaging a person or business for the first time. If you want to reserve a username, make sure you're running the latest version of WhatsApp, then head to Settings > Account > Username. The tech giant says usernames will roll out gradually over the coming months, and users will receive an in-app notification when the feature becomes available in their country.
    • When I think about a network, there are really two aspects, the hardware and the wiring. So here is what I would do for both. Wiring: Use Cat6A for the patch panel, outlets, and all structured cables (cables installed in walls). Run plenty of Wireless Access Point (WAP) cables, as a general rule, assume a signal can only pass through 2-3 walls and can't pass through a floor (that is conservative, but trust me on this if you want strong WiFi)  Cat6 patch cables are fine for now if you don't plan to run 10gig, those are easy to replace later if needed. Run OS2 single-mode fiber to anywhere you think you may have a server or sub-switch. (yes, single-mode for everything on a small network, don't mess with multimode unless you have entire racks of servers and that minor module cost and power savings will matter). If you really want to future proof, also run fiber to any high density WAP locations, it is likely that WiFi 8 WAPs will push the limits of 10g. Run 6-12 pairs of single-mode fiber between your MDF and the building's MDF, even if you only need 1 or 2 pairs now, those extra pairs will pay off down the road. Hardware: (its easy to say "get all the features incase you need them", so instead of futureproofing, I am going to take approach of suggesting areas worth investing in, and areas you can save money). Don't overspend thinking you need every feature on every port. You don't need 10g on every port, you don't need PoE on every port. Don't overspend on redundancy either, unless you are ready to buy two of everything, don't waste money buying two of some things and not others. Dual power supplies are worthwhile, but probably not HA or multi-path redundancy.  Get 1 "distribution layer" switch that your router/firewall will connect to as well as all your access layer switches below. This should be a fully managed 10g+ switch with a combination of copper and SPF ports, a few 25g uplink ports are nice for this switch. Given that you said it is a small network, I suggest also using that distribution layer switch for servers and WAPs, meaning it will need PoE. Speaking of wireless, get good professional tri-band WAPs, and either turn on the band stirring options, or limit 2.4 to an IoT only SSID. This will provide a solid WiFi capable nearly everything but the highest of bandwidth clients...you could even consider skipping wiring workstations depending on usage. Access layer switch for workstations and printers can be cheaper switches, 2.5g is a good sweet spot between price and future proofing, but even 1g is fine for most individual clients (the kind that could probably be fine on WiFi). You can consider saving a little on access layer switches by only getting 1 PoE switch for whatever needs it (remember your WAPs are connecting to the distribution switch, not here), and non-PoE for your workstations, because desk phones are falling out of favor. You can also save money here by not buying managed switches if you don't need them--but really do some soul searching there, if you go this route, then anything that isn't on your workstation VLAN would either need to be connected to the distribution switch, or its own access layer switch. Also, don't feel like you need a fancy fabric stacking switches for your access layer, that is the point of the higher-end distribution layer, to remove the need for things like that at this level. Home Hardware: I'm realizing the above assumed an office setting, if this if for your house and home lab then the above still applies, but you'll probably want everything managed and PoE, just because, but you probably also don't need multiple access layer switches. If your total port count is below 24, just skip separating distribution layer and access layer and just get one nice switch with the features you want. If you are at the point of considering a 48-port switch, I would instead get a nice high-end distribution switch for things that need it, and cheaper access layer switches with specs based on the needs of connected devices. For home use, don't worry about home running every device to the main switch, there is nothing wrong with running sub-switches for your media areas and office, those essentially become your access layer, just look for sub-switches with a 10g uplink so sharing bandwidth isn't an issue. Just make sure you always connect them to your distribution/main switch, don't daisy chain, the path should never have more steps than Client>Access>Distribution>Firewall>Internet.
    • Google Meet brings Gemini note-taking to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers by Karthik Mudaliar Google's Gemini-powered "Take notes for me" feature inside Google Meet is now available to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. The features work on Google Meet for web as well as on mobile, and Google says that subscribers can use it for meetings they host in many supported languages. As the name suggests, "Take notes for me" allows Gemini to listen to a meeting, generate a summary, identify action items, and save the notes as a Google Doc in the user’s Drive. After the meeting, the organizer receives an email recap with the summary and action items, while the notes can also be attached to the related Calendar event depending on the meeting setup and sharing settings. The feature isn't automatically turned on for everyone, though. Google says that all meeting participants are notified when note-taking is turned on, and users can start it from the pencil icon in Meet or enable it for future calls through Meet’s meeting records settings. For work or school accounts, administrators can also control whether the feature is available and may require explicit participant consent for note-taking, recording, or transcription features. The feature first launched back in 2024, when it was available just for selected Workspace users. Over the years, Google added refinements and more options, including the ability to enable it when scheduling meetings via Google Calendar. Google's support docs say that the feature currently supports English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, but only one language at a time. Meetings with multiple spoken languages are not currently supported, and Google recommends using the tool for meetings between 15 minutes and eight hours. The new feature makes Google Meet closer to its rivals that have AI tools already built in. Microsoft Teams has recently started offering Copilot and intelligent recap features that summarize meetings, surface highlights, and help with follow-ups, while Zoom’s AI Companion can also generate meeting summaries from desktop and mobile meetings.

Between 5.15 and 5.16, the following bugfixes were accomplished: Bug 421610 - RFE: Include logical dates for View->Filter by "date range"The Select Range section of the Date tab of the register's Filter By dialog box is changed to provide relative, specific date, or days ago options for the start and end of the filter range. The Show number of days item label is changed to Show from days ago to better reflect what it does. Bug 436105 - esc key not working as expected in register: Enable the escape key to cancel a field edit. Bug 797384 - Gnucash doesn't handle commodity prices with big numerator/denominator properly. Bug 798004 - Next gen UI for stock transactions Bug 799314 - Add "enter now" option in scheduled transaction editor. tab to allow users to select the scheduled transactions to be included in a “Since Last Run…” window. If there are no instances of a selected transaction triggered by today’s date, the next instance is triggered. Bug 799751 - autocomplete crash Bug 799759 - Users can't Enable entries via Checkboxes on Scheduled Transactions PageAllow the Enabled box in the list of scheduled transactions to be operated instead of having to open the transaction editor dialog and change the Enabled checkbox. Also added use of the Name column as the secondary column sort for all the other columns. Bug 799762 - Poor handling of cases where hidden/placeholder accounts are used in the account register Bug 799766 - Double line preference not respected in search register Bug 799767 - POST /accounts in bindings/python/example_scripts/rest-api is broken Bug 799777 - `xaccSplitSetParent`: reparenting a committed split silently drops its KVP slots (online_id, cap-gains links) Other changes & improvements: Numeric values may now be selected to copy in the Accounts page. Add new Finance::Quote source Finnhub.io: Free API key (personal/non-professional use) available at https://finnhub.io. Set FINNHUB_API_KEY environment variable to API key to use this source. As of June 2026, free tier API limit is 60 API calls/minute. The Investment Lots report has new optional columns for Computed Annual Growth Rate. Python Bindings: Improved translation of primary object (Account, Transaction, Split, etc.) so that they can be treated as normal Python objects. This is accomplished with SWIG magic so no existing code is obsoleted. Python Bindings: Better conversion of GLists to Python lists. Python Bindings: Destroy the QofSession in the Python Session dtor to prevent leaving the database locked. [engine] Add first-class online_id accessors for Split and Account and make them available to Python bindings, removing the unused Transaction online_id property. Improve C++ implementation of QofBook. Correct the Doxygen doc for qof_instance_get/set_kvp. [gnc-log-replay.cpp] fix incorrect guid dump Add some Boost library requirements needed by libgnucash-guile to CMakeLists.txt so that missing feature will fail at configure time. Use Compile-time Regular Expressions instead of std::regex in gnc-filepath-utils.cpp and instead of boost::regex in the CSV importer, with the CTRE v3.11.1 header added to borrowed [gnc-filepath-utils.cpp] null check char* arguments Add ChartJS licenses. Removed AEX from list of commodities. euronext.com is now using JS based anti-webscraping. [report-core] always offer options summary in reports. This is useful to debug reports. The Add options summary option is removed because it's no longer optional. Remove remaining obsolete IMContext from sheet Fix blurry text in HiDPI offscreen-rendered widgets Add port field to database connection dialog: The convention of appending the port number after the host isn't obvious. When editing a split in the register treat the account as being changed only if it isn't the one selected before editing instead of if the user performed an edit Return immediately from qof_book_destroy if hash_of_collections is null. If qof_book_destroy is called on a QofBook* freshly created with qof_book_new (usually because it was used to create a session that now must be destroyed) it would try to empty the non-existent hash tables, crashing. Clean up Flathub metadata to solve warnings at flatpak build time. Be consistent in naming GncPluginPage and GncPluginPageRegister HTML: Remove unimplemented function declarations. [gnc-html.cpp] remove unused buggy string conversion functions Convert libgnc-html to C++ Apply -Wall -Werr -Wmissing-prototypes to C++ compilation on Windows and fix the resulting errors. • Microsoft finally launches WSL Containers in public preview by David Uzondu Microsoft has announced that WSL containers, a feature that allows developers to run Linux containers natively inside Windows without the need for Docker Desktop, is now available in public preview several weeks after Microsoft previewed it at Build 2026. To use the new container feature, you first have to install the latest pre-release version of the Windows Subsystem for Linux by running a quick update command in your terminal: wsl --update --pre-release After installing, you'd get access to the new Linux container CLI (wslc.exe) and the programmable API. Microsoft said that the CLI has a "familiar format" that matches the toolsets developers already use every day. If you know standard Docker commands, your muscle memory will translate directly to wslc.exe, which even features a built-in alias called container.exe. You can quickly run a full Ubuntu KDE desktop container by exposing ports, or pass your graphics card straight into a machine learning environment to run PyTorch workloads. Passing the --gpus all flag inside the run command instantly links your hardware. Image via Microsoft As for the API, developers can now embed Linux container operations directly inside native Windows applications without exposing the command line to users. The team integrated the API directly into MSBuild and CMake, so developers can define container steps directly in project files. Apart from bringing the CLI and API into public preview, Microsoft also said that it's working on a new default file system called virtiofs to speed up file transfer rates between Windows and Linux. Microsoft also introduced an experimental networking mode named consomme, which resolves compatibility issues with corporate VPNs by routing Linux network traffic straight through Windows. One thing to note about WSL containers is that they don't run in your standard WSL distributions; instead, every application and CLI session spawns its own lightweight Hyper-V utility VM in the background. This basically reduces the chances of one app snooping on the container of another app.
