Gran Turismo 5 to Be Previewed in OPM UK Next Month

There must be a creative decision rather than a technical one to opt for lower res+AA instead of native 1080p.

I don't think anyone goes for lower resolution for creative reasons. They obviously couldn't pull it off in full HD so they lowered it.

THat's why I said originally in another thread. I knew they couldn't do full 1080p. this resolution they are going with is half the pixels of true 1080p and with nicer anti-aliasing it's 720p probably. This is probably the same approach as with Forza.

In terms of creative I was thinking that its better to downscale the current setup to 720p, which is what most people will run, rather than having native 1080p with no AA being run at 720p with huge amounts of aliasing.

I still think the game will look great and as AB stated, vertical resolution is more important than horizontal in this instance.

I'm pretty sure PD have thought of msot of our concerns and have obviously chosen a middle ground.

Except Forza doesn't do higher than 720 horizontally, so no, it's not the same approach.

And it's slightly higher than half the pixels.

Gran Turismo 5 publicity begins with Citro?n>

Gran Turismo 5 publicity starts with Citro?n and Polyphony Digital's supercar.b>

Racing London in Gran Turismo 5 was a fantasy we thought we'd never be able to enjoy in real-life. That's somewhat true, but today Citro?n offered their stunning concept supercar, the GTbyCITRO?N, to the city and recreated the circuit featured in Gran Turismo 5.

Yes, it looks like Polyphony Digital is starting to advertise Gran Turismo 5 already, adding evidence to a late-2009 release.

The GTbyCITROEN is the result of a partnership between Citro?n and Polyphony, measuring 4.96 meters and just over a metre high, sporting wide air intakes, rear air-diffuser, horizontal LED headlamps, gull wing doors, diamond-effect 21-inch aluminium wheels, black leather finishes and hi-tech racing controls.

You can find a selection of photographs of the car's tour of London below, but be warned, some of the photos are not as they seem.

The GTbyCITRO?N will make its UK show d?but at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, 3rd to 5th Ju[uPDATE]TE] - Lets make this a little more interesting. We'll send out a selection of goodies to two commenters who correctly identify which photographs are real and which are from Gran Turismo 5.

Each prize will include a copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for the PSP, a Hellboy plastic model, Volume 1 of The Slayers on DVD, Huntik: Trading Card Game DVD, and a Darksiders art card signed by a member of the development team! Remember to click on the images to take a closer look. Terms and conditions below.*

OPM France is just a 2 page teaser

Although from translations apparently the mag confirms a 2009 release.

well having just read it... there really is NOTHING new in there.

they say that Polyphony have aquired the WRC and Nascar License. (NO NEWS SINCE ITS IN THE FREAKIN TRAILER)

then they confirm it will be out in 09, which is cool, but why trust them more than any other source whos been saying that.

and then they go on saying how great it looks, and how most of the usual gran turismo courses and championships will be there.

finally they say that E3 demo gave them a glimpse of the damage system in GT5, but this also we know for ourselves seeing as "the glimpse" was in the trailer.

... damn french :p

Yamauchi: ?We will give the release date of GT5 soon.?

In a short but sweet interview with AutoWeek magazine which must have fallen through the cracks with all the other E3 news, GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi stated that ?We will give the release daGran Turismo 5 5 soon.? The question remains, though - just how soon is ?soon?? Speculation is mounting in our forums, with many pointing towards the upcoming Tokyo Game Show this September 24-27. Aside from taking place on Polyphony Digital?s home turf (their offices are located in Tokyo), the 2007 TGS show is where they announced the relGT5 Prologue. rologue. While this is just speculation, you can see the pieces of the puzzle would fit together quite nicely. Another surprisingly interesting portion of the interview came when Yamauchi waGran Turismo 1 Turismo 1?s devAW: [AW: How hard was it to make that fiKY: iKY: It took five years. In those five years, we could not see the end. I would wake up at work, go to sleep at work. It was getting cold, so I knew it must be winter. I estimate I was home only four days a year.days a year.

[/indent] He also mentioned the original game was created by a staff of only 7 people! Oh, how things have changed?.

    • Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.5.5 by Razvan Serea Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) is a utility for completely removing AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics drivers and related packages from your system, attempting to eliminate all leftovers (including registry entries, folders and files, driver store). Though AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL drivers can usually be removed via the Windows Control Panel, this uninstaller tool was created for situations where standard uninstall fails, or when you need to fully remove NVIDIA or ATI graphics card drivers. After using this driver cleaner, your system will behave as though it’s the first time you’re installing a new driver—similar to a fresh Windows installation. As with all such tools, we recommend creating a restore point beforehand, allowing you to undo changes if issues arise. If you're having trouble installing an older or newer driver, try it—there are reports that it resolves such problems. Recommended usage: The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best. Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe). It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues. You do NOT need to uninstall the driver prior using DDU. Requirements: .NET Framework 4.8 Compatible with Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11 (32-bit or 64-bit) Note: Using on Insider Preview builds is at your own risk. Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) 18.1.5.5 changelog: Added 'Reset to recommended' button for the Options. General fixes and improvements. WACUP 1.99.51.24568 Preview changelog: Fixed a deadlock seen from the recent crash reports when doing some of the drag + drop actions within the media library window Fixed a loading crash seen related to a problem with some of the artwork cache image files being restored which should now be better handled allowing for the bad image to be removed without it failing Fixed a deadlock seen from the recent crash reports when the internal metadata cache clearing is triggered which could block the main ui thread for too long with this now being moved to a background thread Fixed some performance issues with some of the methods related to determining artwork support which mainly affected the local library import / refresh (this is still slower for some compared to other players because there's more data & artwork aspects being checked for which means doing more processing on a single file despite the best of attempts to reduce duplicate / heavy processing where possible) Fixed a crash with the JTFE based missing files hotkey which no one seems to have used for an age for this to appear (maybe it's time to seriously consider stripping out features that aren't being used) Fixed how some of the file types which use extra information to reference their sub-songs is handled which was preventing some from being correctly resolved back to their base file (noticed fixing above) Fixed an issue with the handling of files with underscores in their filepath which wasn't being correctly handled causing some of the filename to be lost when shown as the title if title reading is delayed Fixed a few things that might be behind NotSoDirect not being stable for some setups though am still not certain that the changes done for this are going to fully resolve the problem from the crash reports Fixed the OS toast handling when there's no prior shortcut in the OS start menu to now create the shortcut (needed to allow the yes/no buttons for the new build / post-release toast) to be done as a hidden one so it's less likely to cause annoyance for those not wanting to see it whilst still allowing this less than ideal OS api implementation requirement to be met to avoid toasts without the needed buttons Fixed a regression when moving from taglib1 to taglib2 which broke some of the handling in place to allow for external programs to still access files when wacup has a held open cached instance of the file Everything else Updated cppwinrt (gen_win10shell.dll) to 3.0.260520.1 (26 May 2026) Updated libcurl (libcurl.dll) to 8.2.1 (24 Jun 2026) Updated Monkey's Audio (in_ape.dll) to 13.15 (28 Jun 2026) Updated mpg123 (mpg123.dll) to 1.33.6 (6 Jun 2026) Updated OpenSSL (libcurl.dll) to 3.5.7 (9 Jun 2026) Updated pugixml to 1.16 (16 Jun 2026) Updated taglib (tag2.dll) to 2.3.0 (11 May 2026) Updated vgmstream (in_vgmstream.dll) to the latest Git commit from 28 Jun 2026 Download: WACUP 64-bit | 9.6 MB (Freeware) Download: WACUP 32-bit View: WACUP Website | Screenshots Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
