giantpotato
So I just bought an LCD monitor, and of course it has a stuck pixel. Warranty only covers more then 3 stuck pixels so I'm SOL. It's stuck on magenta/pink. I've read that there are various tricks to try get them working again. I've read that you can flash colors on the spot, massage it, poke it, press it while the monitor is off then turn the monitor on. So my question is this, has anybody actually had any success using any of these methods? I've had horrible luck with my LCD's. My first LCD had 3 stuck pixels, but luckily the store replaced with a perfect screen. My laptop had 1 dead pixel that was in a lower corner. I had an unrelated problem with the screen so they replaced it with a new panel, but the replacement had a dead pixel smack dab in the middle of the screen. Now, I buy this new LCD and it has a really bright pink stuck pixel which is going to be extremely distracting while watching movies. treborr
I heard using a ball point pen and just pressing onto the screen with the point works quite well. Don't hold me on it though! saiz66
Sorry, to hear that giantpotato. I have tried all the methods you described and nothing worked for me. Luckily it is not in the middle of the screen and i have forgotten about it. James123
I've had quite a few stuck pixels (10+) across the different screens I've owned. All of them have been fixed by "massaging" them (quite roughly :p). Never had any luck with flashing colours on them. Raa
I've used the massage method myself. My Intel iMac has one pixel that if you push it carefully, it'll fix itself. Other screens i've tried this with, didn't work. I've heard of LIMITED success with the color-flash method. Sometimes it'll create more dead pixels (this could be a good thing if you need 2 more?) You'll need to run this virtually overnight i'm told to get any benefit though (if any). Good luck mate! starburst1980
So you're saying I shouldn't buy LCDs? Yeah, thanks for the help  Exactly. 1st, you are doing something to them that is causing these dead pixels. You RARELY hear anyone having problems with dead pixels anymore. Have you read reviews about the LCDs youve bought? 2nd, CRTs are way better than LCDs (opinion) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/782558-tips-for-fixing-a-stuck-pixel/#findComment-591113832 Share on other sites

Have you read reviews about the LCDs youve bought? 2nd, CRTs are way better than LCDs (opinion) I suggest you research what you're talking about before making a post and looking like a fool. Dead/stuck pixels are a manufacturing defect and are still very common. I didn't do anything to these LCD's, they had dead/stuck pixels from the moment I opened the box. Yes, CRT's produce better color, but I had some trouble finding a 21.5" 16x9 1080p CRT for under $200 and that wouldn't take up all the space on my desk ;) Link to comment https://www.neowin.net/forum/topic/782558-tips-for-fixing-a-stuck-pixel/#findComment-591113860 Share on other sites

Panacik
If you only just got the moitor, take it back. I bought a monitor from some random IT store, brand new. It had 5 damaged pixles on it, so i took it straight back. The guy was quite rude and said i needed to contact the manafacture. My argument was, i bought it from him only 5 minutes earlier and its his problem. I also threateneed to come back and "take" the monitor(s) of my choice with my friends if he didnt let me swap it for working model. He agreed then to let me swap it as a "good will gesture"... buy with American Express. problem solved.talk to your credit card company: they will side with you Please remove the flaim bait from your signature. Apparently they don't consider stuck pixels a defect unless you purchase their extra coverage beforehand. I've tried all the tricks and none of them worked. Looks like I'll just have to live with it. PNWDweller
For what it is worth, where I used to work, each of my screens had 3 or 4 stuck pixels in bright green. They were Samsung screens and the company I worked for didn't care to RMA them for whatever reason. Anyway, during the normal course of my job which was internet work, browsers, spreadsheets, Word documents, PDF's etc, I only noticed the stuck pixels if I happened to have a black background on my screen for the wallpaper or otherwise a black backgounded web site. It seemed that since they were so minute (as pixels are), it didn't make a difference. For a movie experience, you could always play movies in Pink. j/k Try watching a movie or two and see if that really does make a huge difference for you or not. As for returning the screen, you are on your own there, if the manufacturer only covers 3 or more dead pixels, unless your store is understanding and liberal with their policy, which I am getting the impression that they may not be. I have also tried the pixel flashing method as well, as hard as I tried, I just couldn't get that tiny flashing pixel to 'infect' the stuck one. Massing didn't work as well as the other techniques.
