New Vista user. Running Vista Home Premium SP1 64-Bit (OEM) on a Dell Studio 1537 laptop.

I installed VistaGlazz without any problems. Downloaded a few msstyles from DeviantArt, but only 2 out of 6 actually work correctly,I think possibly because of the 64-bit issue. Caption/title bars are blank, and scroll bars don't look correct, just in general they *don't look like the screenshots*.

Anyway, I read here about using Deskhack to display the correct style name.

When I try to install, I get error message

The module "C:\VistaDeskHack_1.1\DeskHack-x86.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x800f0235.

Googling for the error code only turned up the information that

0x800F0235 means Operation not allowed in WOW64. SPAPI_E_IN_WOW64

but no solution for the error.

Microsoft Knowledge Base gave zero hits when I searched for this error code.

Searching the forum for "deskhack error" got me 66 pages of posts with the word "error" in them (Maybe Search tool needs to have an advanced feature to enable search for multiple words!")

Can anyone help?

Right click, Run as Administrator.

Ah.

I was sort of expecting that, I guess.

64-bit is a pain in the fanny-pack!

Most of my 32-bit software is working ok, but I keep finding these really painful exceptions where there is just no equivalent 64-bit compatible software.

That will teach me not to jump on a bargain price so quickly !!!

@SoapyHamHocks --

That one worked! thank you.

However, the first time I tried, with the files unzipped to the desktop, install.cmd ran without error message, but did not run the DllRegisterServer.

The second time, I followed suggestion from AeroXP thread, and put the unzipped files in System32 folder. and ran install.cmd from there.

*SUCCESS* --- "dll was sucessfully registered."

Now I'm seeing the style names listed in "appearances" dialog (and sometimes, not always, a preview).

Thanks again.
