Firefox 3.5 RC2 is out NOW:)

I don't know where they said it but I think I read that final would be released or completed this month.

either at the end of june or sometime in july will be the official final release of FF 3.5

i'm currently beta testing FF 3.5 RC2; not much difference between RC1 and RC2

I think they realized there was a problem with rc1, otherwise there wouldn't have released an update so fast.

I just added it to my 32bit Win 7 install, the only thing I have noticed so far is that many of my add-ons don't work :(

But I am sure they will be updated before the Release is available. Only thing I have noticed so far is it is a tad slower.

The most important things holding back Acid3 were fixed (fundamental layout issues, text and font handling, etc.). All that's left is a parser issue (getting fixed) SMIL (half-way fixed already) and SVG fonts (getting fixed)

Dear god i didnt think IE8 was that bad lol ive never liked IE, first browser i ever used was Netscape, no maybe it was that prodigy crap, been a long time can't remember

Firefox 3.5 is shaping up very nicely.

In Firefox 4, does Mozilla plan to pass Acid3? Also, when will Firefox tie into Windows 7's new taskbar APIs?

Firefox 4 will probably pass Acid3 because there's only 4 or 5 items left to do, and all are planned for the next version (new HTML parser, SMIL support and SVG Font support). And the next version will probably do the taskbar stuff (There's work being done, but more code needs to be written for people to get a hang of the API)

I'm happy to say this runs faster, for me, than Firefox 3.0 did and I love the new icon, so I may go back to using it. I just really hope somebody makes extensions or userstyles to do the following 3 things -

Make the 'find' function look and feel like the one in Safari 4.

Make downloads happen exactly how they are implemented in Chrome (or at least that nice animation as soon as you click on something to download :happy:)

Make the tabs become thumbnails of the page, like they can be in Opera 10, and (maybe) implemented in the same way.

Those are the 3 things I really want in Firefox. It is my favourite browser, but those 3 things are fantastic in the other browsers, in my opinion :(

It'll be years before IE can do what Firefox can in terms of rendering that's for sure.

yeah its a joke vlc 1.00 being called RC3, it crashes all the time, should be called alpha. I havent tried RC4 and wont be trying until its final, dont want more crashes.

You were probably running RC1. I am running rc2 and get no such update.

I thought I was running RC2, but in the 'About Mozilla Firefox' window, it doesn't say anything about being a release candidate.

Does it say that for anyone else? It makes it appear as if it is the final version.

Also, does anybody get a bug where it appears that the program is not running in the Windows 7 taskbar (i.e. no border around it?). It only happens sometimes and not consistently. The border will appear again shortly afterwards or if I go to the application using Flip or Flip3D.
