Well as some may know from my last thread, the old phase unit could not be repaired, and in the end was not worth the hassle. So i contacted a new builder and have this new bad boy.

Here are the specs

Danfoss SC18CLX.2 compressor

Chilly1 evaporator

four foot suction line

r507 refrigerant

It was tweaked for maximum cooling and will hold -37c with a 4.9ghz overclock at 1.525volts (corei7). I will be putting it on my q6600 in the meantime, but will have it cool an i7 next month (hopefully). I have almost completed my bench table (pics will be added soon).

didnt realize anyone posted in here, sorry i havent added results yet, things are coming along.

How often do you plan on replacing your CPU? At 1.525volts won't they burn out in a year or so?

As long as the chip is cooled correctly and temps dont get to high, too much volts wont hurt. Realistically say the chip has a lifespan of 5 years on stock volts, going to 1.525 takes maybe a year off the lifespan from my testing. By that time I will have upgraded anyways.

That's a cool setup. I wish I could do that if I had the time and money. To me, 1.525 V seems a little high. Then again I'm running a Core2Duo E6750 @ 3.2 GHz (1.400 V).

Remember that 1.525 is a corei7. I ran 1.55 on a core2duo/quad for over 2 years on watercooling alone in sunny california.

Awesome. How much does it cost to get that kind of cooling? And how long can you run a system clocked that high for?

Depends on what type of processor you will be cooling. They range anywhere from 500-the thousands of dollars. Mine was 700 shipped (roughly 70 pound box). The previous build i had was around 800 dollars. You can get them from any builder on a forum, but i used www.under-the-ice.com this time around as runmc is one of the best around. You can run it well over a year.

Increasing the voltage of a CPU shouldn't damage it if you cool it correctly, I would imagine -37 would be pretty adequate

Correct, as long as the temps are good and the chip is cool, it wont hurt to much.

a crude picture of bootup, it gets to about -44 then drops to -38 or so during use, im on a rough overclock right now, messing with a bad windows install and my raid has errors. Going to tweak some more and try to find stable settings for 4.4ghz or 4.5 and reinstall afterwards to bench.

and no my picture hanging isnt crooked, just the picture

    • Since they open sourced the calculator in Win 10/11 it is much better and can do a lot, I love it.
    • That's just silly imo. The lengths that man goes to just to avoid W11 is just nuts. Very, very few home users would do that. I will say this though, he is committed. Btw, I note on askwoody that Woody Leonhard passed away March, 2025 aged 73. His site was one of my favorites back in the day. Belated yes but RIP Woody.
    • Because of the EU (a good thing) newer android devices been getting 5 years worth of security patches. Except some Motorola which found the loop hole, and offer ZERO updates. In addition, Google for years have been making where it can patch some stuff by updating the core Google Play Store itself.  As echoed earlier,  you take the security risk in to your own hand beyond supported.
