Liverpool are anxiously awaiting news from Greece, with reports suggesting defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos has suffered a season-ending knee injury.

The Reds defender was forced off during the first-half of Greece's World Cup qualifier with Luxembourg on Wednesday.

There has been no word from the Greek camp on the severity of Kyrgiakos's knee problem, but reports in the local media suggest he has suffered anterior cruciate ligament damage.

Should the injury be confirmed, it will be a huge blow for Reds boss Rafa Benitez who drafted in the 30-year-old following the departure of Sami Hyypia in the summer.

Kyrgiakos has made one league start for Liverpool so far, but is viewed as ideal cover for Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger.

This season is falling apart before it even gets started. At this rate, I will be surprised if we even win the Carling Cup.

Torres and Gerrard are injured for the Sunderland game tomorrow.

Insua, Mascherano and Lucas are all flying back over from South America for the game, and arrived today (jet lagged) at Melwood. Kuyt also picked up a knock whilst playing for Holland.

Sunderland away is a difficult fixture, and we never fare well against Steve Bruce.

All bets on Sunderland tomorrow :p

The goal shouldn't have been allowed to stand, but that doesn't excuse another terrible performance. I am starting to think that the people who say no Gerrard and no Torres = no backbone are correct.

Liverpool 2 Man Utd 1.

Last season. No Torres or Gerrard.

Alonso isn't in the squad either this time, which basically makes us flat and toothless. I honestly hope you're right and you do admittedly know more about football than I do, I just don't see any trophy hope in the team now. Basically to have a realistic title chance, I think we need to go the rest of the season with no more defeats, and maybe 3 or 4 draws tops.

Our team is weaker than at this time last season, but Man Utd (1st in the league) are also weaker than last year due to the loss of Tevez and Ronaldo.

Doom and gloom is not something I like to feel when it comes to Liverpool's chances of winning 'something', infact the only doom and gloom around at the moment is emmanating from the continuing presence (and hence distraction) of George Gillett and Tom Hicks, which is in turn probably affecting the teams performance more than we realise. In an ideal world our fans should be focusing on driving the team to success, but the number one priority at the moment is to get the Yank liars out of Anfield.

Yeah, i'd definitely agree to that, I'd like to see those 2 gimps out for good.

    • Thanks for liking it! 😊 That's Arch Linux with Gnome.
    • LOL. Can't even quote and edit a comment correctly. Figures you're a Linux user.
    • It won't perform hugely better than the 3080 unless you're VRAM limited in games. Have you tried putting new thermal pads on them 3080 and giving it a good clean to see if you can regain your temps and overclock?
