Yep, new manager's doing a good job so far, looking forward with interest to the first chelsea united clash this year. Thought Tottenham's luck would run out eventually, though I feel they have a solid UEFA / Europa cup chance.

AHahahahah what a fantastic game! Giggs was absolutely wonderful, he shows the all town that a classy player never gets old. Fletcher was everywhere and knows how to aim the empty space of the goal, he should teach Berbatov one or two things. Calm down Dimitar, you were good, but Given was better. And Owen scoring the winning goal is just the cherry on top of the cake of a spectacular afternoon. Our defense gave them two goals (WTF Ferdinand?) and the extra time was a bit too long, even I admit it. But the victory is fair, we were trully better in the second half.

Ferdinand isn't 100%, it was our shameful goalkeeper who let us down really. If Van Der Sar was in goal it'd be 4-0, 4-1 at best :/

I absolutely couldn't believe that 4 minutes extra time more then we should have gotten, that was absolutely unbelievable  I mean, I'm not complaining, but boy I would be ****ed if that happened against us :p

BBC's Match of the Day 2 programme showed that, by the letter of the law, referee Martin Atkinson should have blown his whistle one second before Owen's winning goal.

After the fourth official indicated four minutes of added time, 56 seconds passed between Bellamy's strike crossing the goal line and play restarting.

As well as taking goal celebrations into account, the officials were entitled to add 30 seconds for United's stoppage-time substitution, when Michael Carrick come on for Anderson.

Therefore, the total amount of time that should have been added was five minutes, 26 seconds and Owen struck on five minutes, 27 seconds.

Atkinson then did not blow the full-time whistle until 96 minutes and 58 seconds were on the clock and Hughes believes the pressure of the Old Trafford crowd may have played its part.

Yeah I seen that on MOTD2 last night, quite funny as it makes all the whining about the extra time look silly. Mark Hughes demanding answers and everything else and it works out to be one second too much

Fergie can fly! :p

Former England defender Sol Campbell has left League Two side Notts County by mutual consent after only one game.

Executive chairman Peter Trembling told the club website Campbell "could not adjust to the long-term nature of the project under way at Notts County".

The 35-year-old former Portsmouth, Arsenal and Tottenham player arrived as a free agent in August to team up with ex-England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.

But his debut, a 2-1 loss at Morecambe on Saturday, was also his final match.

Campbell's footballing future is now uncertain.

He is highly unlikely to be allowed to join a Premier League club before the January transfer window unless he can prove he had a just sporting cause for quitting Meadow Lane.

Campbell agreed a five-year deal with Notts County after his contract with Portsmouth expired, earning a reported ?40,000 a week.

lolwat:rofl::

Aww poor Sol couldn't cope with the level of football Notts County were playing at. Let me guess he was being bullied off the ball and he didn't like it well thats proper football for you Sol not the over protecting premiership where referees protect you.

Oh well that's his World Cup place gone.

No Sol is probably not right up in the head. He was still a pretty good defender when at Pompey. Sadly he started to make strange decisions and we had to use Distin speed to get us out of defensive trouble.

Although it would be nice if he retired, became like a defensive coach for pompey, but I don't think he can be trusted.

Storrie 'could quit Portsmouth'

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie could quit the club in the next week, the BBC understands.

BBC Radio 5 live reports that Storrie is losing faith in whether new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim has the finances to take the club forward.

Al Fahim took control of the club in August, despite a late rival bid from a consortium led by Storrie.

But doubts have continued to circulate about the property tycoon's financial backing, as Pompey toil on the pitch.

Earlier this month Storrie insisted Al Fahim had arranged new funding "in principle" for Portsmouth, without giving details of how much money would be injected into the club.

The 2008 FA Cup winners have lost their first six games of the Premier League season, having sold several of their first-team players during the summer transfer window.

Following Al Fahim's takeover, Storrie pledged to stay on at the club, but he admitted earlier this month that he had considered his position.

"I feel there's a job yet to be done and I'm hoping this change of ownership will give us the funds at long, long last to do the stadium and the training ground," he said.

"My wife feels over the last year, I should start easing off a little bit but that's not my style and I just want to see this through now, make sure we stay in the Premier League this year."

Al Fahim had his bid for the club accepted back in May, but as negotiations dragged on, a Storrie-led consortium launched a counter-bid.

Six days later, the Al Fahim deal went through.

This week, the Dubai-based businessman was quoted in a Spanish newspaper ruling out bringing in new players in January.

He also cancelled a planned meeting with fans on Friday because he was "concerned the coverage generated will distract the players from their preparations for Saturday's crucial game".

Pompey are bottom of the table with no points and face a difficult home match against Everton, who have put their own early season troubles behind them, at 1245 BST on Saturday.

Under-pressure manager Paul Hart cut short a news conference with national newspaper reporters on Thursday after he was quizzed about his future at Fratton Park.

When asked if he had been told how long he has to turn things around, he said: "What are you asking for, a fourth vote of confidence in three weeks?"

He then told BBC Radio Solent: "Whatever supporters are feeling, magnify that by one million and you'll get to where we at the club are.

"I've got belief in the players we've brought in and belief in the players still here. I'm confident in the ability of the players to turn it around."

Storrie going would be bad move for us. Then again I think he's felt cheated with the way the club was sold. Al Fahim seems at the moment a right muppet. He says he'll inject 50mill into the club. For that sort of money all we can do is either do the training ground or buy players in the next window. Seems a bit of a joke to be honest.

yeah was going to post about that ?50m, I am not sure it will help either BBC says the club has debts of ?40m anyway so it's not going to leave much, it's a shame to see Pompey in such a state.

    • Exciting! It’s amazing how hearing Japanese can naturally enhance the perceived quality of any experience or product.
    • Your other comment in another article says otherwise, namely "Microsoft veteran wants to replace every single line of C/C++ code with Rust and AI".
    • Sued and... exonerated. Oh, they learned a lesson alright. They learned that anyone who uses the word "antiturst" in conjunction with "Microsoft" is an idiot, even if that person is Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson. That judge ruined the image of the US justice system. Microsoft Edge has a 5.14% market share. Also, Windows is no longer the #1 OS. None of this constitutes a monopoly. Google Chrome, however, has 70.25% share. Also, Google's Android is the #1 OS. Now that's closer to a monopoly.
