I've been quarantined for the past week due to Influenza A and have only just recovered from a high fever so I thought I share with you the beast that has been lurking in my room for the past two weeks.

Behold the latest creation to replace my HP Pavilion dv5000t, an ASUS G51VX-A1 Gaming Notebook! It cost me RM6688 and boy is it fast, in fact it's astonishing that it could have the performance of a desktop in a notebook size package. It came with an ASUS branded back pack which can be seen in the distance to the left and also a gaming mouse, basically a rebadged Razer Copperhead.

Did I forget to mention that the keyboard was backlit :p ?

The ASUS logo, which also lights up!

The front lid, on first impression most people thought the motif was from Transformers or something! There are two side strips and a middle strip that light up when it's on AC power.

You would think I have a mouse fetish or something :p .

A close look at the two shelves above my desk. The flower vase is new, I thought I add it in to give it a bit more of a personal touch :p .

Word clock running on both screens at 1920 x 1080.

I have already sold of my HP so I can't make a comparison with it. It is quite large I can tell you that, even though it's footprint is similar to a 15.4" notebook. So far, I've managed to install The Orange Box, NFS Undercover, Mass Effect, Mirror's Edge and Resident Evil 4 and it gobbled up those games like it was having breakfast  ! Crysis was the only game that brought it to its knees, albeit still playable at 720p :p .

All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase, especially when I was weighing up the Dell XPS Studio 1640 before I realize the ASUS was well within my budget. More powerful too  !

Here are the specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 (2.8 GHz, 6 MB of cache)

4 GB DDR2 800 MHz SDRAM

15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080) LED backlight screen

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M with 1024MB GDDR3 VRAM

500 GB 5400 RPM HDD

Blu-Ray DVD Combo

Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 ABGN

Altec Lansing speakers with Sub Woofer

Windows 7 RC1 x64

man what a great looking laptop... I would seriously get rid of my desktop for that thing..

Does it play games pretty well? Like say COD or WoW?

Considering it could play Crysis at 720p, that would be a... yes :p ?

I don't see why, looks like there's plenty of space for the xbox....

But it looks great, love the carpet :p

Hope you're not going to use that green rug for anything else, there'd be imprints everywhere ^^

I'v had it for 4 months now, and no imprints. I paid alot for it, so it better not :)... My parent also have a bigger one in our livingroom... :)
