iPhone 3GS - Jailbreak Released

Did this on my 3GS and it works perfect. Though, some applications that I used on my 3G don't work yet (status notifier, winterboard, etc).

Good to have Cydia installed though.

Don't run iTunes when you're doing it, it's not necessary for it to be open.

i didnt have it running.

it kept popping up when purplera1n put the phone into recovery mode. its fine now.

RedSn0w updated to version 0.8, UltraSn0w updated too. Both add/improve support for iPhone 3GS. I've updated my site with links: http://www.poorlad.com/iCommunity as the Dev Team have done a soft launch without a blog post.

Sooo.... stuck in recovery with purplera1n. I might do this on the Macbook Pro rather than Vista after I restore. :(

Did you have itunes open - I found i would always get stuck if it was open...

Keep it closed throughout...

Ensure you have the latest purplera1n... (can only talk for 3gs - ive never had any problems....:D)

last I heard the dev team included a bunch of extra patches/fixes with there version, plu the fact that one of there members is the guy that manages Curia and winterboard etc....

Although purplerain has worked well for so far, I'd rather use the "official" jailbreak.

While I was restoring, I took the time to backup iBEC and iBSS. I know they're important but I don't think I'll ever understand why they are. XD Together with pureplera1nyday and the ECID I think I'm covered for all future events. Now if only the restore didn't take so long....

Ah, I know that are some problems with Wifi that ive experienced ( ive also heard these are on redsn0w),

With the latest version i havent had any problems so far, but its very tempermental (sp?), seems to change after every reboot.

Very glad that winterboard is now working...Feels like we're finally there....took much longer than i expected tbh.

Does jailbreaking inhibit your phone from receiving push notifications? Or is that only if it's been unlocked using ultrasn0w?

im pretty sure its only if you unlock, but i disabled push to save battery life.

i changed it to check email hourly instead.
