NienorGT
I need to find this little white plastic part. My Cap Lock key is broken and it's make me mad. Apple specialist store (Not Apple Store) said that I need to leave the laptop here so they can change ALL the keyboard just for this little DAMN white part because apparently Apple don't sell them at the unity..... I call this B*S* dammit, they just want to keep users off the repair factor (Well, it's sometime fine because of the PEBCAK problems) but for this one, it's a little out of my mind.... My Mac is may MAIN PC, I'm leaving Sunday for St. Catharines so I can't leave this there and I use my Mac for EVERYTHING.... Anybody may help? eBay something? It's a MacBook Unibody by the way (Just to be sure)
PyX
Are you sure it's broken? Last time this happened to me on my MacBook with the ALT key on the left. The key just decided to fall. I decided to put it back. A month after it fell again, so I decided to put it back again. A month after it fell another time, so I was wondering what was wrong with that little piece of plastic that you have in your picture. I removed it and put it back in the keyboard and pressed real hard on the ALT key and I heard a satisfying 'click'. Now my problem is gone, the key holds carefully. I don't think they would change the whole keyboard though - as it's only this that's broken. Maybe they just don't have it at the Apple Store and they want to send it back to the repairs officially and they will have this little piece of plastic... just a thought. NienorGT
No it's well broken, I admit it's hard to see the problem, here I made it more obvious: The guy really told me that they would change the WHOLE keyboard top just for this :| I found this site: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/produ...=590&page=1 $9 CAD + Ship it's not cheap for that kind of little thing, so I want to be 100% that it's really the only option I have... StevoJD
Don't the Apple keyboards use that also? Buy an Apple keyboard at a local store, take out the little part and place it on your laptop, then place the broken part on the Apple keyboard and return it. NienorGT
I tried it...... My PC is using a Mac Keybord. They are not exactly the same  Macbook keybord is good but little fradgile. Wired Keyboard are DAMN Solid! It has been hard to remove the key ^^;
StevoJD
Oh well. CAPS LOCK KEY ISN'T THAT BIG OF A LOSS LOL. Pry off the plastic thing from a display model at the Apple store (get someone to cover you), then run off frantically.
Quillz
It's not unusual for Apple or any other computer company to generally replace the entire keyboard, even when only a minor part of it fails. Unfortunately, it seems the site you linked to (the one that was shipping it for $9) is going to be your only bet, unless you do decide to get the entire keyboard replaced. .Neo
Pry off the plastic thing from a display model at the Apple store (get someone to cover you), then run off frantically. That's actually a good idea! Bit of a shame though if you get caught. :p
AltecXP
buy a macbook keyboard off ebay? that will give you a lot of them to resell or use later.
Rudy
As far as I know all companies replace the whole thing when a part of the keyboard fails (same thing happened to my old Compaq laptop and they replaced the whole keyboard too)
instant.human
yea i kinda have the same issue with my "w" and my "f". only that the key itself, namely the little "holders" under the key are broken and i need the key and not the little plastic-thingy replaced. the "w" is just lying on that actual press-down-whatever. ;) everytime i dont miss it in the center, it pops off. pretty annoying but thats something my dad has to deal with as soon as he gets my old '06 blackbook and i do the upgrade. ;) good luck with your keyboard! =) as quillz said, its not unusual for companies to replace the entire keyboard even if theres only a minor problem... NienorGT
The MacBook keyboard sucks... I have an Apple USB keyboard and EVERYTHING is better, from the keypress feeling and the mechanism is built with stronger parts. I'm going to Toronto Saturday so I will go to the official Apple Store see what they can do, I have a new problem with my MacBook now too... :(
