I'm pretty sure Microsoft is announcing a new browser call Gazelle, that will compete with Google's Chrome OS.

So far, the purported sign-off date for Windows 7 RTM is July 13. And that's a Monday. :)

I doubt it. Announcing Windows 7 RTM ? a significant milestone for Micorosft ? would only make sense. The RTM build is expected to be signed-off on July 13 (which is a Monday) and I doubt Microsoft would announce a new browser. Of course, I could be wrong. Microsoft may use this as a counter to Google's Chrome OS.

Looks like the dates may not be correct due to a show stopper bug.

Windows 7 RTM Update: Roadmap Possibly Altered

Initially, we reported that the RTM build was going to be officially signed off and announced on July 13th. At the time, Windows 7 was proceeding on schedule and several internal sources in Microsoft both close to GeekSmack and other sites have told us that the RTM was in fact coming on July 13th. However, it seems like due to several show stopper bugs, one that we think has to do with activation, the RTM build has been delayed from the initial date.

Today was pretty much the deadline that Microsoft internally set to choose and decide on an RTM build, but from what we?re now hearing none of the builds thus far have been deemed good enough, and so they?re continuing to compile RTM candidate builds. Backing this, in the recent Microsoft press release regarding the executive re-shuffle, they stated this: ?The transition between Reller and Veghte is timed to take place in late July when Windows 7 reaches the release to manufacturing (RTM) milestone?.

Again, when we initially reported on the matter, internal sources and other forms of evidence led us to believe that the RTM was coming, and I can safely say that at the time it was confirmed and it was going to happen, but with these new show-stopper bugs present Microsoft had to make a change to the roadmap to accommodate the time it will take to iron them out.

UPDATE: We now have some new build numbers, courtesy of WZor:

Yeah, it's like watching grass grow. LOL.

I heard Ballmer gave the development team a few days off for the 4th of July weekend. Then it was back to the grindstone. Notice there were two builds back to back recently. They are trying to get it together and probably working through the weekend.

Yes, if they want to make it in time for Monday, they'll probably have to work on the weekend.

Otherwise, if the 7271 build they did Friday turns out fine, they could make that one the final Rtm.

Who said it would? (With confirmed source.)

Yep... Nobody. Monday isn't likely, but i'm hoping for "this week"

Referring to general Technet availability, that is ;)

I thought the show-stopper bug would delay it somehow. Hopefully, it won't delay it at all. My TechNet subscription is waiting to be "used" once Windows 7 RTM is made available. :p

    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. This could be happening to Lenovo PCs specifically. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues. • It is when it's a desktop in my house though for a PC that's lightly used and not really important when it is. If it was a laptop, it would be a different story. The real solution is varied and begins starting at post #22 in that thread.
