It's really quite insidious.

It locked up Firefox x64 here (older build). IE8 x64 becomes unresponsive for about 20 seconds while it renders the characters, and then acts fine.

Kills Safari 4.02 in Leopard. Fx3.5 w/ NoScript seems the best option for safety still... though NoScript can be a pain in the ass.

Just turn off the warning pop-ups, and only allow script access from sites that you trust manually.

Will take care of the "pain in the ass" and keep you safe.

Well, I've tested it with every browser I have on Leopard and Snow Leopard 'seed' and I can't make any of my browsers crash (FF3.5/Saf4/Opera) - they all just hang for a moment while rendering the unicode text and then live on happily ever after - all of them exhibit the same temporary memory increase but none of them crash (after closing the tab the memory consumption returns to normal).

Mine crashed :( Using Firefox 3.0.11 (No, I haven't updated it yet) and ubuntu 9.04 ... had to fly quickly to the terminal to another tty and end the process asap...

damn thing wooped the ass of my 512 ram laptop :b

Can someone tell me if this was fixed in 3.5.2 or not? Because its crashing even that for me, well, not crash. I have to close it since the memory usage becomes crazily high. Using Windows 7 64-bit.
