James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

I wonder how does George Lucas think about Avatar?

"Creating a universe is daunting,? George Lucas said. ?I?m glad Jim is doing it?there are only a few people in the world who are nuts enough to. I did it with ?Star Wars,? and now he?s trying to challenge that. It?s a lot of work. I do believe Jim will take this further out than anyone?s ever conceived of.?

- George Lucas

thought i'd come see people's opinions on the movie (real people not critics) and all i get is pages and pages of jedix spamming worthless info and blatant fanboyism. Pretty excited to see this, mainly because i've never seen a 3d movie, wanna see if it's actually worth wearing glasses for if ya know what I mean. Hopefully it completely blows me away but my guts telling me i'm gonna be left disappointed

So I heard this movie is a 3D version of a Pokemon movie with just Mudkips on screen. It sounds like its worth seeing, but I feel a bit uneasy spending $10 on a ticket for the 3D version of the movie.

It better be of a higher quality than Pokemon.

Just got back from seeing this movie in a staff screening at the Cinema where I work. All I can really say is that it is not just a movie but an experience. My jaw has never spent so much time on the floor. Amazing and beautiful from start to finish, everything from CGI, animations to scenery to the smallest details just amaze. It is clear that alot of thought and care has gone into this movie and that everything you see is meaningful and intentional. I had very very few miniature gripes but those are nothing but nitpicks to what has to be the most amazing movie experience in as long as I can remember. I cannot possibly recommend this any more highly! A definite 9.8/10 from me (Y)
Even though I watched it for free I can tell you it will absolutely be worth the money. If anything just to see the amazing world he has created. It is simply breathtaking!
Sorry for late reply I had to eventually get some sleep. Yeah we watched it in 3D, it was very good, it was one of those instances where it doesn't go over board trying to be all action but uses it to immerse you in the experience. 3D glasses in general annoy the crap out of me and my eyes react very negatively after I take them off but that has nothing to do with the film itself.

thats my opinion if it helps, although that does come off a bit fanboyish but its honestly only because I have very very little bad to say about it and I went in with no prior expectations (Y)

Woah posting clips and trailers on here is definitely not spamming!

Again, like I said, critics are usually the HARSHEST on movies LIKE this kind. So with them majority say good things about it, I really couldn't see how so many average people would find it less better? That would be like defying the prior history.

Other than prejudice from people misjudging this movie without seeing it. And some may refusing to check it out due to that cause, being stubborn.

Anybody can explain the hype to me? looks quite mundane for me

Agreed. Other than the oh-golly-gee-whiz cutting edge CGI...what are people saying about it? I have no idea how the plot is, the story, nothing. Just people droning on and on about how neato the graphics are.

*edit*

And...karl_87 answers my query as I post. Ironic.

I'll wait for the blu-ray, regardless.

I mean, the BIGGEST attraction for me personally is Pandora, a BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL Alien Planet... with tons of adventures. Absolutely AMAZING Sci-Fi/Fantasy world!!!

I absolutely also loved that aspect with Star Wars too. Hopping from planet to planet to do missions, having adventures!

My mind... I can tell you have a lot of Imagination and these things just very compatible with how my brain think!

Some of my favorite video games are in this genre (Mass Effect, Space Quest, Every Star Wars games) so I am always into this sort of stuff!

What about you? Does that interest you?

If that's not your cup of tea, well, then I can see it's just not something you are interested in a lot.

And If that's not enough. I am sure Acting is great! Action is great too! Director is probably one of the BEST of ALL time as well. There are SO MANY reasons this movie has the hype.

Only people who don't get the hype, IMO are the ones just NOT very much into Space Sci-Fi much in the 1st place.

Read what I said above!

If a very Gorgeous alien planet with promising adventures does NOT interest you a bit, then sure I can see why you are not excited.

Of course, this movie isn't for everyone. Just like Atonement/No country for Old man/Slumdog Millionare isn't for everyone either, and TBH I would prefer a Space sci-fi over a Earthly love story/Western/Comedy anytime regardless of the strength of plot, and acting.

This got me interested. So it's a movie that feels like these games? More than a simple world it's an universe? Maybe it would be a good popcorn flick, I LOVED the first three star wars movies as that

btw, curiously I'm replaying Mass Effect for the third time (Y)

I'm sure I'll sound like a broken record where reviews on this movie stand: I thought it was the most visually incredible movie I've ever had the pleasure of watching. I am going to have to see it several more times before I remotely begin to catch the things I saw. The 3d was very well done, I did get to watch in a state of the art IMAX facility, so that is sure to have made it more pleasant. This is absolutely a must in a good theater. I have no doubt in my mind this is the example that will be looked back upon for years to come.

That all being said, the story was pretty generic rubbish. That hardly seemed to matter though considering the scope of this thing. I really felt this was a true theater experience. Im sure some of the....simple minded.... people will see it as something more than that.

Go and enjoy. Well worth the price of admission.

OMG I AM TOTALLY

SPEECHLESS!!!

Going back at 11:30!!! :o :o :o :o :o

Note the color - This movie is a MUST have experience for your Merry Christmas!!! Again, A MUST!!! :D

YOU (NOT me, NOT us) will be the one missing out if you don't go! :p

The story is A LOT better than some people give it credit for.

It's WAY better than Transformers or stupid crap like Night Of The Museum 2, etc!!!

    • Remarkably based article from Garter - apparently there IS someone working there that actually understands mainframe systems.
    • Calling it TDS doesn’t answer the question: why did this site skip prior UFC games but review this one, at this exact political moment?
    • Its the timing of its release, mixed with the timing of the review mixed with the timing of the event, when this site never reviewed previous iterations of this game that I could find.
    • Instagram just got "a long-requested feature" by Hamid Ganji Instagram has finally added a new feature that has been "long-requested" and it allows users to write an individual caption for each image or video in a carousel. The feature will start rolling out this week, and it’ll be available to all users. Previously, Instagram only allowed a single caption for all regular posts and carousels. This made it harder for content creators to describe every scene in a carousel and often forced them to write longer captions. However, with this new feature, every slide in a carousel can have its own caption, which can be viewed by swiping left or right. To use the feature, when writing a caption for your post, select “Multiple captions” from the dropdown menu in the caption area. You can then write unique captions for each slide. By swiping through the carousel and selecting individual slides, a dedicated space for writing captions will appear. Instagram says the feature will help audiences get the right context at the right moment. The ability to assign a unique caption to each slide in a carousel could be particularly useful for content creators and brands on the platform. Instagram says the feature will begin rolling out this week. The new feature appears to have been well received by Instagram users, many of whom have been requesting it for a long time. However, users are now asking for additional features, such as the ability to add new slides to a carousel after it has been published. Instagram has been introducing several useful features lately, but users who want access to additional tools and perks can subscribe to the platform’s Instagram Plus offering. Priced at $3.99 per month, Instagram Plus includes exclusive features such as 48-hour Stories, more detailed post analytics, and the ability to tailor posts or Stories to specific audiences. The subscription includes 11 new features in total.
