James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

Recommended Posts

Well, I was about to see the movie, but JediXAngel killed all my interest. No movie should be hyped this much, not even Mel Brooks' films (which are the best movies ever made).

yeah I think the over hype is killing it for me, it's everywhere at least with Star Trek it wasn't over hyped and I loved it.

I was just listening to Mark Kermode review it in which people called it "Fern Gully in 3D"

Only people who don't get the hype, IMO are the ones just NOT very much into Space Sci-Fi much in the 1st place.

I love Sci-Fi, Movies and TV like Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Battlestar, (hell, i'll even throw in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century :D) Sci-Fi Games, Books, Graphic Novels etc.

But I'm not hyped for this Movie at all, I'm going to go see it, and I hope it will be good, but I don't see why its going to be the next coming of sliced bread. :p

And I understand you like it, but please calm down with the giant fonts etc, it doesn't help your cause at all.

Just got back from Watching it, did not see it in 3D because the theatre didn't start 3d untill 3:30 pm, anyway Im not impressed in the least.

Super cool effects YES.

Lots of action, YES.

Industry changing film, NO.

Did it make me really feel for the characters or invoke some level of emotion, YES.

Is it an original story that will stand the test of time, NO. It's cowboys and indians in space (or rather space age) for cripes sake, John Wayne would be proud but i've seen this core story to many times to count in films.

Will i buy this film on blu-ray, well MAYBE, I may buy the blu-ray 3D version once i upgrade to a 3D capable TV however like alot of people say 3D really is a gimmick.

I am now looking forward to Tron legacy and IronMan 2 even more than i was before since this film did not meet my expectations, which is rare, usually i am blown away.

I opted out of Avatar and went and saw The Princess and the Frog. Money well spent.

I don't follow the hype, and the hype for Avatar is too insane.

The "industry changing film" was ALL ABOUT THE 3D.... Maybe you should have waited until 3:30 pm to see it in 3D.

I think you have mistaken the 3D (As in polarized 3D glasses) for the 3D CGI Visual effects what was supposed to be "Industry changing", yes those 3D CGI is by far ahead of any movie to date, but not enough to "Change the Industry"

nothing about how the film will be displayed in 3D in theaters digital or not is new, in fact the technology has existed and been in use for quite some time.

EDIT:

Ok I take that back it was shot with new stereoscopic cameras, still not really that industry changing, i will wait till after the 18th and go see it in IMAX 3D, but i don't think my opinion will change

*SIGH* Sounds like some of you really need to GROW up, NOT me!

"I will hate this movie a lot just cuz JediXAngel is Hyping it"??? WOW!!

If that's the whole mentality of you guys for you honestly not liking this movie... Sounds so 3rd grade-ish with this ridiculous attitude!

:no::no::no::no::no::no::no:

Just correcting Jedi's post, he was missing a few more smilies.

Here's a visual explanation to most of your posts. Can you guess which one you are? and who everyone else is?

:huh::huh::huh::huh::jump::huh::huh::huh::huh:

I just got back from watching it. This movie is great! One of the most visually stunning movies i have seen. The story is good, better in my opinion than a lot give credit for; however i will say that the story does not make this movie amazing. The characters and the believability of pandora is what makes this movie amazing. Reading the emotion off of their faces, their smiles. It all was natural and believable. Not once did i sit and think that they were generated.

I will also say that i haven't been to many 3d movies (maybe 1 back in 96) but this was simply a joy to see in 3d. Many scenes left me with a smile on my face and multiple times had me panning my head to look around at what was in the room, or in the forest as if i were there.

I would recommend that everyone see this if they get a chance, it's a really fun movie.

I wonder if Black people going to watch this movie will notice that the girl is acted by a Black actress, if they didn't already knew?

They might think it's a white actress because Sam Worthington is white.

Great acting by Zoe Saldana she is one of the BEST Black actresses now, Halle Berry MOVE OVER!!!

Fern Gully in 3D? I sure hope not. :D

I think the movie has been over hyped as well. Even on here. :D

Just came back from seeing it. If you do not watch this in 3D, it'll probably be another movie. However, watching this thing in 3D was just absolutely amazing. The most visually stunning movie I have ever seen. I would say 100% of the movie is in 3D. Even the sub-texts were freaking in 3D, amazing.

This storyline has probably played before. However, it's not about the plotline, but the creation of Pandora which is the star. Cameron makes this visually aesthetic and stunning masterpiece. I would say this is more stunning than LOTR series. The environment and the animals are a joy to watch.

Overally, I would give this a 4.5/5. Definitely worth watching. But watch in on the IMAX, you're jaw will drop.

I bet you it will.

Just out of curiosity (I haven't seen anyone mention this, or don't remember seeing anyone mention this), but to see this movie in 3D, does it require 3D glasses? I wear normal glasses and I took my younger sister to see Up in 3D over the summer, and it was really uncomfortable sitting there for an hour and 10-20mins with glasses on top of glasses. It'd be torture to do it for almost 3hrs lol.

If you go to a digital 3D theater they have "over the glasses 3D glasses" you know like those big haunkin black granny glasses or safety glasses, except they are flat of course.

Im sure they diminish the 3D effect some though

    • When will the Photos app be updated to remember the window size and position when reopened? They addressed this issue in a 2024 version of the app (though I can't recall the build number). Unfortunately, after that specific version, the problem persists! Please prioritise this fix in your K2 schedule. Additionally, the Snipping Tool has lost the ability to capture the Windows Taskbar starting from the 2024 version!

    • Anthropic pulls Fable 5 and Mythos 5 after US export control order by Pradeep Viswanathan In April this year, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos Preview frontier model with state-of-the-art cyber and coding capabilities for a select set of companies around the world. After preparing appropriate guardrails, early this week, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, its most capable AI models. Claude Fable 5 is for general users and comes with strict safeguards, while Mythos 5 is designed with fewer safeguards for cybersecurity and biology use cases. Today, Anthropic abruptly suspended access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 AI models for all customers after receiving an export control directive from the US government. The company received the directive from the government today at 5:21 p.m. ET, and the received letter did not provide any details regarding the national security concern. Anthropic understands that the government became aware of a method to bypass, or “jailbreak,” Fable 5, which might be the reason behind the directive. The order was issued under national security authorities and requires the company to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether they are inside or outside the United States. The restriction also applies to foreign national employees working at Anthropic. As a result, the company has disabled both models for all customers to ensure compliance. Access to previous Anthropic models like Opus and Sonnet is not affected by this government order. The company highlighted that it had developed strong safeguards to reduce the possibility that Fable is misused for tasks related to cybersecurity. In fact, many developers are complaining that the safeguards are going overboard. Additionally, the company worked with the US government, the UK AISI, multiple private third-party organizations, and internal teams to red-team Fable’s safeguards for thousands of hours. Finally, Anthropic noted that no testers have yet been able to find a universal jailbreak on Fable 5. As expected, Anthropic disagrees that a narrow potential jailbreak should lead to the recall of a commercial model used by hundreds of millions of people. It warned that applying this standard across the AI industry could effectively halt new frontier model deployments. Anthropic concluded by mentioning that it is working to restore access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 as soon as possible and plans to share more details within the next 24 hours.
