James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

Recommended Posts

They are deleting the music video off Youtube left and right man, not cool at all.

For any Leona fans this video probably WILL get them get to see this movie, so it's a dumb move the copyright crap is stupid!

Still a few left

These 3D movies give me headaches. I hope its released in a non-3D version here soon. I'd like to see this but don't want to walk out of the theater with a migraine :/

Oh and wtf is up with the $14 ticket price?

the theatre i went to it cost $3.75 more per ticket for the glasses but you get to keep them, i still had mine from Beuwolf when i went to UP in 3d so I was not charged the extra price

And Wow that was Leona that sings that, lol in the theatre i thought Cameron brought in whats her face from Titanic again, it is a VERY similar song

Thanks for the info. I didn't get to keep the glasses when I saw Up. If I go see the movie, I'll ask if they have the larger glasses. Considering going tomorrow, but not sure yet.

Wonder anyone saw it in 3D IMAX STILL thinks this movie looks like a Video game?

Speaking of Video game I feel this movie kinda has a sub-theme about some of us playing a video game, MMORPG, Second Life or whatever with an avatar and maybe wants to live those lives instead?

No, the movie looks Photo-real 100% not a single shot of the movie is like a VG period.

What is the best way to watch? RealD or Imax 3D

I saw this in IMAX 3D last night on the world's largest IMAX 3D screen (Melbourne, Australia). Incredible. A must see, in IMAX.

Not like a video game at all...

Whether this movie will change industry or not is remain to be seen... we will know by 2011 if 3D movies are as good as this in future?

For one. I think it's fair to say this is the BEST 3D movie made... I think this alone will make some people restore faith in 3D

Then, you have imagination of this movie that only rivals Star Wars.

Definitely NOT many movies are like this and as Sci-Fi fans you all should embrace this kind of movie and not go against it for childish reasons (Just cuz it's too hyped?)

I never said it was to hyped, just that i was not as impressed, honestly i really didn't like the story much but it was a very well produced/written/acted/believable Sci-Fi film

The Nerd in me wanted to see some more Navi-nip-slips

The story is most similar to Star Wars, pretty basic but yet at the same time if you think about it, you can think up so many themes.

Like, most people probably didn't think Star Wars was a great story at the time either until later in the years and they look back and find so many underlying themes in it!

Blue symbolism associates blue with freedom, strength and new beginnings. Blue skies are emblematic of optimism and better opportunities. Blue is the color of loyalty and faith. Blue is power. Blue is also the color of protection. Blue symbolism is nearly universal in meaning. As a result, blue is used in national flags and symbols around the world, including the flag of the United Nations.

James Cameron should Direct this!!!

Oscar really need to add a NEW category in Awards

That will give it to the Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie with CG ... including Superhero movies.

This way it doesn't get cheated/robbed by ordindary flicks with so much less effort put into just good because plot it's Better?

Now days, there are just too much Sci-Fi/Fantasy movies, I think it's time it gets it's OWN glorious category! This kind of movie is just EPIC in EVERY way I don't care if the plot isn't freaking 140+ IQ, most movies aren't really that smart anyway :)

It's really not fair when you compare an Epic masterpiece like this made with $500+ Millions with a Classic plot Vs a maybe a brilliant movie that's made for just a thousand or two that may be one of the most intellectual movies.

I don't know if those movies need it own category...I am already hearing a lot of buzz about being the front runner for a lot of awards for Oscars. And if a sci-fi or fantasy movie can stand on its own without having its own category that would attract more non sci-fi/fantasy movie goers. I am not disagreeing with you but just putting out another thought...

http://goldderby.latimes.com/awards_goldde...nment-news.html

In fact, many non Sci-Fi/Fantasy movie goers are already respecting it now. Like, James Cameron is smart using Leona Lewis on the theme song!

Just so many of these movies now in this genre, and unfair to being be robbed by an ordinary drama with good acting/plot that has NO action, and no FX at all (MUCH less movie effort)

    • Google Gemini co-lead Noam Shazeer is leaving for OpenAI by Pradeep Viswanathan Noam Shazeer is best known as one of the co-authors of the 2017 “Attention Is All You Need” paper, which introduced the Transformer architecture that now powers most large language models. He also worked on several major Google AI projects, including LaMDA, before leaving the company in 2021 to co-found Character.AI. He also authored the Sparsely-gated Mixture of Experts (2016) paper, which is popular among the AI community. After falling behind OpenAI and Anthropic a couple of years ago, Google brought Shazeer back in 2024 as part of a major deal with Character.AI. Through this deal, along with Noam, several other researchers returned to Google DeepMind. More recently, he was a vice president of engineering at Google and a technical co-lead for Gemini. Today, Noam Shazeer announced on X that he is leaving Google and joining OpenAI. In his post, Shazeer said it was a difficult decision to move on, adding that he was proud of the Google team and what it had built together. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman welcomed the move with a post of his own, saying Shazeer was one of the people he had most wanted to work with since OpenAI’s early days. Google has made strong progress with Gemini over the past year, closing the gap with OpenAI in several areas. But losing Noam Shazeer is a major talent setback for them, especially after bringing him back less than two years ago by spending a fortune. For OpenAI, the hire adds one of the industry’s most experienced language model researchers to a team that is already pushing ahead with ChatGPT, Codex, and its next generation of frontier models.
