James Cameron's Avatar in 3D

Recommended Posts

Well saw it today, normal, no 3-d, wasn't mindblowing, But it kept me entertained for 2 hours and 40 minutes i'd say... As a movie i'd rate it 7/10. Maybe when I see it with the "mind blowing 3-d effects" it will be an 8... I will nitpick however, on how at sometimes the CGI looks REALLY BAD, seconds maybe, but enough to make it noticeable, that bad part of this is, for the most part the movie has very good CGI, so little scenes with bad CGI take away good credit...

But seriously people, go see it, I had low, really low expectations when I first saw the trailers. :)

Anyway... my 2cents, I just saw it cause there was nothing else to watch and came out, satisfied :)

Edit: And yup, it definitely is overhyped :)

Anyone like some more Neytiri pics? :D

I am NOT saying she is Hot just say she is very believable CG in the movie very real!

Just got back from seeing this movie in a staff screening at the Cinema where I work. All I can really say is that it is not just a movie but an experience. My jaw has never spent so much time on the floor. Amazing and beautiful from start to finish, everything from CGI, animations to scenery to the smallest details just amaze. It is clear that alot of thought and care has gone into this movie and that everything you see is meaningful and intentional. I had very very few miniature gripes but those are nothing but nitpicks to what has to be the most amazing movie experience in as long as I can remember. I cannot possibly recommend this any more highly! A definite 9.8/10 from me (Y)

+100. I was pulled into the movie's action so much that I couldn't bring myself to get up from my seat for anything! I normally go for a soda refill during slower scenes in many films, but I just couldn't with this one. I came out of the movie wishing that the planet Pandora really existed and that I could live there! That was pure epicness!! :)

LOL I LOVE the movie so much, but paint yourself blue is a bit too crazy!

Visually stunning, but the story is a bit lame, basically a Cowboys and Indians film, except these Indians are blue and 10 foot tall, oh and the Indians win (don't think I'm spoiling the plot there, it's obvious that's the outcome before you've seen the film). But still a film worth seeing.

Ok. Im usually dont follow the hype but with this, because cameron (terminator 2 AND aliens, nothing more) I went to the teather. Well, and that was me, watching for about 3 hours in "3D" (note the quotes) a sad cartoon. If is this the upcomming cameron, well, he will be dead for me. Looks like he takes all his old "good" memories/moments and makes them bigger. Meaning, the ships from alines and terminator here are bigger (the bigger, the better?, of course not) and at least to me are a lot less elaborated that were in the old times (because they were real, and not an stupid CGI). The helicopters are simple ridiculous, the "lost" chick acts like she knows, bad. Weaver is getting even worse in her acting. In general the acting is really bad. But the have they excuse that are watching (for a few moments, because the movie is a cartoon and the real ppl is not there most of the time) a BIG green screen. And you note that.

The story is flat, predictable and lame. The characters are flat too.

If you sum all of that (the "3D" thing (note the quotes), the lame story, the bad acting/characters) what you get?. A really and expensive movie. But because is a cameron movie, this would be the best making money movie of the history. I could bet that. The ppl go to the teather like zombies, because of the hype.

And for sure you will cry, like me, because they wont give you your money back (this time I couldnt fight that much, because were a lot of the ppl waiting in the line).

I rather Ice age (which is was bad).

Only good if you are 12 years old (or if you are mentally in that age)

Under your Avatar

From: Hell

Indeed...

This must be TOO Beautiful, too Heavenly of a movie for you to like since you are from HELL appearantly. :p

I bet you want to see a HELL-like Pandora that's all zombies and demons and lifeless trees and plants! :p

BTW, aren't you also the one say Lost sucks?

Avatar was imo a truly stunningly beautiful movie and no movie thus far has come even close to the amount of CG character/world detail(a close 2'nd is Beowulf) and really makes you believe that the world is alive just full of life. My ONLY issue with the movie was that did the Navi people even know that the Avatar's were not truly Navi people? Maybe I missed that part but to me it did not seem that they were even aware that they were not truly real. Other then that it was flawless and I am DEFIANTLY going to see it again, this time on an IMAX!

Not everyone has to like the movie just because you've gone overboard with it.

don't worry about Jedi... he overrates every movie that the media overhypes. i.e Transformers, Heroes.. etc.

I am sorry don't judge when you don't know what you are talking about, but I DO really think Avatar is MUCH BETTER in terms Quality than Transformers and Heroes are!!!

I Love Transformers for the fact that it's very action packed and FX with the Transformers are really Cool, but nothing about the Drama is anywhere close to this Avatar movie!

Drama, acting, plot, suspense is certainly WAY better here in Avatar than Transformers!

So, of course I am NOT putting Avatar and Transformers in the same boat that's just NOT true!

And Heroes, I also never said that was a masterpiece either. In fact, I always believed LOST is better... so both judgements are WRONG!!!

It only matters if Stanley Kubrick shares his opinion, and good luck with that.

So far I've heard that Avatar is just Pocahontas but with CG.

And your post in Movie Ratings

Avatar is a boring movie. The effects are beautiful, the rest sucks. I fell asleep.

The only good movie JC has done is Terminator 2.

Please STOP trolling! :|

WOM on facebook and twitter is INSANELY good. Women especially love it.

go to facebook and search Avatar on the top right search , then on menu on left choose Posts by Everyone and it streams every status with the word avatar. 30-40 statuses a second and its like 1000 to 1 Awesome to Bad ratio

you are clearly trolling here. First you say that you have heard Avatar is like pocahontas in 3D but 2 hours before in movie ratings you write that you fell asleep. Mods please.

I think they did, hell they kinda have 5 fingers instead of the navi's 4 lol. The chief mentioned he was a "dream walker". Obviously the entire clan doesn't know of the process; only the head people. Becuase it was a more recent activity. Thats why there was a translation at the end becuase only certain people of the navi would speak english. And if you noticed Tsu mentioned he was a demon in a false body.

They knew. Gracie was there teaching in that body for awhile also.

Definatly see it in IMAX 3d. I heard it will have a 3 month or so run. I plan on seeing it again.

And its fern gully people get it right ;)

Enough with comparing this movie to other movies...

Originality these days are very very rare, almost nothing is original anymore. EVERY movie borrows some from other ideas be it movies, books, or culture references.

James Cameron need to not tell you something originial in order to be Awesome. He just need to use references to create something NEW that's Masterpiece worthy.

Like in College, the essay you write get an A++, SAME principle, I mean it's not original but your OWN version of what you referenced from other sources.

It's TRUE though what I say...

Even Lost, the BEST TV show I consider with mind-blowing plots it borrows from other resources to make up the plot for the show's Awesomeness!!!

It's not orginal, but how it combines other resources to make up the plot is done completely in MIND-BLOWING fashion!

    • Latest Rufus update improves new Windows 11 install method by Taras Buria Pete Batard, the maker of Rufus, a very popular app for creating bootable Windows (and other OS) media, has released a new beta version of its app. Rufus 4.15 beta is now out, and while it offers no new features, there are all sorts of improvements and fixes, including for the new Windows 11 installation method that was introduced in version 4.14 in early May. The "Silent Windows 11 installation" is a new feature whose goal is to automate operating system installation. All you have to do is boot from the drive, and then Rufus takes over, doing all things for you, such as setting up a new account, skipping ads and prompts, and more. It is a very handy tool, but initially, it had some bugs and issues that required addressing. With version 4.15 beta, Rufus is fixing that, particularly a bug with installation failing at 75%, crashes on Snapdragon X-based PCs, and more. Here is the changelog: Rufus 4.15 beta is now available for download from its GitHub repository. If you have never used Rufus before, you can check out our guide here. It is a very useful utility to have, as it allows you to deal with plenty of Windows 11's annoyances, which are still there, despite Microsoft's ongoing efforts to fix them.
    • Microsoft fixes one of Excel Copilot's most frustrating limitations by Usama Jawad Microsoft began integrating Copilot into Excel a couple of years ago and has been upgrading it with new functionalities since then. While some changes have been controversial, Microsoft is hoping to win over users by allowing them to be more productive via Copilot. To that end, it has now announced a Copilot improvement that may actually be appreciated by people who use it regularly. Excel customers often use the Copilot prompt box to issue instructions to format and customize their data, but it can become quite tiring to keep repeating the same instructions again and again. Microsoft now allows you to define Copilot personalization rules for formatting, naming conventions, formulas, and report styles. These can be accessed via Settings > Personalization, where you can explain your rules in natural language like "Always format currency in USD with no decimals", and just let Copilot take care of the rest. Microsoft is going a step further in this direction by allowing you to set workbook rules too. These rules are stored as a .Rules sheet, and are preserved while the workbook is shared. This fosters collaboration while making sure that standard rules govern the Copilot editing experience across the organization. Other advantages of this capability include pointing it to specific examples, defining dynamic formulas, and referencing an entire sheet and asking Copilot to infer rules based on that. You can leverage this feature by opening Copilot in Excel, clicking on "+", and selecting Create workbook rules. If you have an existing .Rules sheet, you can simply start listing the rules in column A as well. Personalization features are available to all Copilot in Excel users across the web, Mac, and Windows. Meanwhile, workbook rules are currently being previewed for Windows and Mac customers on the Insiders channel. General availability is scheduled after a few weeks, but a concrete date is currently unknown. Overall, the Excel capability is quite similar to ChatGPT's memory features, which allow you to permanently store items in the AI model's context window.
    • Imagine you still haven't discovered Total Commander that is doing all those things for three decades already...
    • This sounds like underneath the nice marketing spin, either someone at Adobe got tired of their lazy devs and asked Microsoft to help them sort at least some of Adobe's ancestral spaghetti code to make it go faster, or Microsoft wanted Adobe's crap to run better on Windows to make it look better when compared to Apple, so they offered to intervene. Either way, GOOD.
