Sims 3 expansion unveiled

Yeah, it'd probably be more like three and a half.

(And yes, I'm kidding. Two years sounds about right, what with all the art assets and code changes needed.)

They have everything, the code, the content, the graphics, the ideas... They just need to update/port the freaking things. I don't see much difference between Sims 2 and Sims 3.

Exactly, was just about to reply to RandomEvent with the same post.

They don't need to add any new scripts for items or clothing, all of that is in place. It's really just a matter of adding textures when it comes to that content.

As for locations, again lots of it is decorative and the scripts for interactions etc are already made. Any code changes that are made would be pretty minor.

Your serious?

I thought the whole ability to own your own transport and actually explore the city and visit all the different buildings whilst taking part in a whole bunch of different community events made it a tiny bit different.

Plus all the extra customisation of the sim- physically and through traits. Plus the extra paths for career.

That aside, I don't see whats wrong with these expansions, they wouldn't make them if they didn't sell. Don't forget you can actually add your own content to the game, for free, so it's not like they are forcing people to buy it.

I definitely agree. They should make whatever was in the expansion packs for the previous game and make them standard. There's no Universities in the Sims 3 and that was probably the best EP for the Sims 2.

I do not agree, it still was terrible. Just because you had college meant nothing when you couldn't enjoy that environment. I highly doubt it took a lot of time to create a dumb expansion like that. They just created a new neighborhood and added some interactions dealing with college. The Pets Expansion was the best, having pets living in your household, it was just great. It really was different to the game and probably took a lot of effort to code the pet simulations and the interactions and items that kept them living. :)

If it helps, I think World Adventures is the best Sims expansion I've seen. All my Sims 2 expansions were 'meh' as they added stuff but didn't really change much of anything. This actually changes the gameplay, and it's great.

And now back to your regularly scheduled mocking.

Never saw a DVD only a "box set" which meant you had to install each disc

Does that include the Complete Sims 1 collection DVD? It had all the expansions. I don't know how it installed, though.
