3/5 - Chloe loves her dodgy roles! :|

Just watched this with my wife, total blah. I do not mind slow artsy movies, but yeah, this one did nothing for me other than make me think there was some inappropriate things going on. If the point of the movie was to make people feel completely uncomfortable, they did achieve that with smashing success.

yeah it was a bit wrong seeing Chloe do and say some of the things considering her age

Exactly, and even if she is older than the character she played, the movie starts off at her 13th birthday party, so she is damn young. It just felt incredibly wrong to have a 13 year old girl in the situations she was in, even if it is a movie, and even if 13 year old girls are indeed in those types of situations, which I do not doubt that they are. Would have been much easier tolerate if she was say 17. I do get the whole point of it all, basically it is all about even if she is 13 she does in fact face very adult situations, I do get that, but it just seemed to push the envelope of decency IMO, and I am honestly pretty tolerant of people pushing the envelope of decency and do no doubt know it can serve a purpose. That I believe is probably my biggest issue with the movie itself, I am not sure overall what the whole purpose was. I have some theories naturally, but as I said, I definitely did feel uncomfortable watching some of the scenes.

As I write all of this I realize the people behind this movie just pretty much achieved what they set out to do, and that was have people discuss these facts. So I guess in that regards it is a successful movie for them.

yeah the fact we are talking about it means he got the responses he wanted...its not a movie I would watch again though

John Carter - 6/10

Journey 2 : The Mysterious Island - 6/10.

Saw them both yesterday.

John Carter 8/10 - I was really surprised I would enjoy another Disney film.

Journey 2 Mysterious Island 7/10 - It was so so, anyway it's The Rock. :D

John Carter 6/10

The devil inside 3/10

Devil inside was terrible, I only give it a 3 because Isabela was hot and the overall story line was actually pretty good.

John Carter was good, looked sweet on my 60" 240hz Samsung, over the top special effects but could have used better character development especially concerning the alien "gods" who claimed to be ending worlds without intervention, who were they? where did they come from? what other worlds did they end? etc etc, the movie goes into it slightly but not near enough IMO.

Me and my wife had a quintessential Lazy Sunday since we have off tomorrow thanks to the holiday, so went on a bit of a movie watching spree today.

Safe House - 8/10

Actually a pretty damn good action thriller. Denzel is the man.

The Pact 3/10

Such a cliched horror movie. Plot had more holes than a golf course. Just awful.

Take This Waltz - ??/10

I put question marks for the score as we turned it off about 50 minutes in. Incredibly slow and as such had no interest in continuing to watch it.

Tomorrow should be another movie day. Day off, going to be hot as all hell, so will probably watch 2-3 more movies.

    • Linux 7.2's first release candidate gets off to a good start by Paul Hill Credit: Larry Ewing It has been a few weeks since the release of Linux 7.1, and in that time, the Linux 7.2 merge window has been open, where developers can submit their features and patches ready for the upcoming release. That window is now shut, and the release candidate phase has begun so that new features can be tested and further fixes applied. According to the founder of Linux, Linus Torvalds, this week’s release candidate looks “reasonably normal”. Although we are super early in the release candidates, this is a good sign as it makes it more likely that an eighth release candidate will not be needed. Torvalds even mentioned that the update’s stats are only larger than they really are because there was another AMD header drop with a third of the patch just being AMD GPU register definitions, which aren’t big changes but make the code contributed look larger overall. In addition to this, he noted that just over half the patch is drivers, even when excluding the AMD register dump. The rest of the changes are spread out over architecture updates, tooling, documentation, and core kernel updates. In the next week, Torvalds says that he will be chilling out, taking the week “mostly off”. Despite this, he will be reading emails and keeping up with things, so if he is slow responding, now you know why. He said he is hoping for a calm week, but we will just have to see if the second release candidate is actually like that. We should expect seven or eight release candidates before Linux 7.2 is released, so expect it around the end of August. If you missed it a few weeks ago, be sure to check out our coverage of Linux 7.1's release.
