[Official] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

I was once a diehard PC fanatic but the writing is on the wall. It is far more cost effective for developers to keep the game as similar as possible across all platforms.

Depends on the dev, Rebellion (making the new AvP relaunch) said it would do P2P gaming on the PC then bailed on the idea after seeing the flak IW got. Just because one developer dropped dedicated servers due to time constraints it doesn't mean "the writings on the wall".

Remember that one Dev has the all time best selling game ever under their belt (MW2). We are talking a major company, not some back yard start up. Wont take long for others to follow. There are no current (within the last year) cross platform games I can think of I would rather have on the PC, the PC advantage is quickly disappearing. The writing is on the wall but many refuse to read it.

I'm well aware. But when you have $3 billion in sales on one game you can do what you like. Other games may well need the support of all the platforms to break a decent profit. Other big publishers aren't showing signs of change. As they are aware there is money in dedicated servers provided you know how to exploit it (EA & BF2's 'official' servers).

The elitism of Pc gamers is what will kill the Pc gaming scene

What are you talking about?

You are refusing to move with the times - most genres are adapting to the console market and, unless PC gamers learn to accept that, less and less of the big games will be developed for PC. Casual gaming is the new wave and it is pointless fighting it except for certain genres where Pc gaming reigns supreme.

When FPS'ers stop getting developed for the PC I'll simply stop playing them. I like low pings and fast responsive games if I can't get that I'll go give Blizzard ?8.99 a month again. I'm not playing a FPS on sticks.

As long as Valve & EA are still happy to accommodate I'll keep upgrading my PC every 2 years.

They have completely FUBAR'ed this game on PC. Anyone who thinks this game is a good direction for PC gaming is an idiot or not a PC gamer. Those who support this game on PC are just asking for a day when all the benefits of PC's are taken away and once that happens, PC gaming becomes a thing of the past. So for all of you who understood that before you bought the game but you bought it anyway.. a big FU for jeopardizing my love of PC gaming.

Ah, how did you manage to get Delorean to work? :o Anyway - its not perfect in any way, but in practicular genre of big multiplayer shooters i havent seen single interesting game for last 1,5 years, and after putting in 574 hours in TF2 its getting a bit boring, so yeah, this will definitely do. Atleast till BC2 is released. It works good enough and it feels good enough. In this day and age thers tons of way more "consolized" pc titles then this.

Ah, right. Also lets start listening to Lady GaGa everyone. I mean, shes in now, right? Rock music is futile.

Why should we move with the times. For at least 10 years the PC has had dedicated servers with low latency and admins on hand to kick any smacktards, getting with the times is a step backwards for PC gamers, why should my game experience be dumbed down for some idiot with a ?200 games console when my PC costs upwards of ?1000. If i pay that sort of money for my "console" i want a premium gaming experience, not a game created for consoles ported to the PC, if i wanted crap like that i would buy a console.

IW started life on the PC platform, the PC platform made them who they are and how they are crapping on us from a great height by dumbing down the experience because all the idiots who think console gaming is superior dont know any different from being shafted up the arse by games developers. Is it right that i should get "could not connect to host" 5 times in a row, then when i finally get into a lobby and load the game it either freezes on the loading screen(not an issue with my PC), or it picks a really laggy host who refuses to leave the game, or you get a cheater that you cannot kick or call an admin to kick, or you get host migration that 8/10 doesnt work for me. With dedicateds i can CHOOSE where i want to play, if it has a crap ping i can go to another server, if it has a cheat i can call an admin if there isnt one already present.

The only reason MW2 went P2P is all about control, if they gave us dedicateds they cant sell us DLC because we can put whatever maps we want on a dedicated server, with IWNET you cant so you either fork up for DLC or you dont get the maps.

So dont get all high and mighty with me, i am a PC gamer, i have been for 15 years, i shouldnt have to put up with the crap that console gamers do.

Been playing it on the PC for a while now. Did anyone else feel that the PC version plants that seed of doubt?

When I played on the 360 version, I never felt my opponent would cheat. Yet on the PC, I get that alot and have been on the receiving end of a few aimbots. It's such a shame as I love this game, but being on PC its alot easier to get into the guts of the game and change things to a players advantage. Anyone here been on the receiving end of a hack/cheat with MW2 PC?

If anyone is interested I am going to be playing this on Live a bit later tonight.

It is now 5:30 PM EST here in NJ, USA, and I will be going on with at least two other people at approximately 9 PM EST.

In roughly 3-4 hours from now give or take.

So if anyone is going to be around at that time and wants to join just send me a message on Live, respond in this thread, or feel free to join our party.

Last time we tried this didn't work so well, so expecting it might be more of the same tonight, but figured why not try once again.

I have most frequent members here on my friends list already, but if you are interested and we are not yet friends my GT is DirtyLawrence now. I just cleaned up my friends list a bit, deleted anyone who has not been active on Live in the past 6 months, so I have 3 slots open.

This topic is now closed to further replies.

    • Did you see their FAQ, its quite good. Have a look in the Advanced section. https://delta.chat/en/help
    • Just install Linux Mint that is a real blessing and many times cheaper because you can continue using your old Windows computer/laptop with the latest Linux updates.
    • Interesting share -- however it does not make sense: Email messages get stored somewhere, so how is Delta Chat "based on email" and decentralized without actually storing anything? By Web3 standard practices, the various Relays would require dedicated storage to make messages available to the recipients (like a large series of message queue channels, akin to racks of traditional post office boxes)... and Contacts must be two-way confirmed in order for encryption keys to be exchanged (ostensibly every key-pair is uniquely bound between sender and recipient) and the Relays would preserve the public keys in order to facilitate message carriage... or every device stores all sorts of keys and contact info. All of this to say, decentralized messaging is like running Bluesky nodes except instead of discovering/browsing public feeds by various posters (at the given node) these Delta Chats would be relaying encrypted messages (via Relays) that only trusted recipients would have the appropriate decryption key (their own private key) to read it. But this doesn't solve the "it's like email" sales pitch. The only way it's like email is that there's encrypted binary stuff being transported from your app into the federated ether of Delta Chat Relays for others to decrypt (hopefully only the intended recipient)... but outside of this federated relays framework, it is absolutely nothing like email.
    • Hasleo Backup Suite Free 5.8.2.2 by Razvan Serea Hasleo Backup Suite Free is a free Windows backup and restore software, which embeds backup, restore and cloning features, it is designed for Windows operating system users and can be used on both Windows PCs and Servers. The backup and restore feature of Hasleo Backup Suite can help you back up and restore the Windows operating systems, disks, partitions and files (folders) to protect the security of your Windows operating system and personal data. The cloning feature of Hasleo Backup Suite can help you migrate Windows to another disk, or easily upgrade a disk to an SSD or a larger capacity disk. System Backup & Restore / Disk/Partition Backup & Restore Backup Windows operating system and boot-related partitions, including user settings, drivers and applications installed in these partitions, which ensures that you can quickly restore your Windows operating system once it crashes. Viruses, power failure, or other unknown reasons may cause data loss, so it is a good habit to regularly back up the drive that stores important files, you can at least recover lost files from the backup image files in the event of a disaster. System Clone / Disk Clone / Partition Clone Migrate the Windows operating system from one disk to another SSD or larger disk without reinstalling Windows, applications and drivers. Clone entire disk to another disk and ensure that the contents of the source disk and the destination disk are exactly the same. Clone a partition completely to the specified location on the current disk or another disk and ensure that the data will not be changed. File Backup & Restore Back up specified files(folders) instead of the entire drive to another location to protect your data, so you can quickly restore files(folders) from the backup image files when needed. Incremental/Differential/Full Backup Different backup modes are supported, you can flexibly choose data protection schemes, which can improve backup performance and save storage space while ensuring data security. Delta Restore Delta restore uses advanced delta detection technology to check the changed blocks on the destination drive and restore only the changed blocks, so it has a faster restore speed than the traditional full restore. Universal Restore This feature can help us restore the Windows operating system to computers with different hardware and ensure that Windows can work normally without any hardware compatibility issues. Hasleo Backup Suite 5.8.2.2 changelog: Improved creation of bootable media that supports the UEFI CA 2023 certificate Fixed an issue that caused system restore to fail Fixed an issue where file backup could not list drives under Windows ARM64 Fixed an issue that caused backup of MacOS files/folders shared via Samba to fail Fixed an issue that caused "Smart Backup" to not work properly Fixed other minor bugs Download: Hasleo Backup Suite 5.8.2.2 | 39.7 MB (Freeware) Links: Hasleo Backup Suite Website | Hasleo Backup Suite Guide | Screenshot Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
