[Official] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Just played again for the first time in about 4 days. I've gone back to basics, and changed my playing style. Using M4A1 + Red Dot, Stopping Power Pro, Scavenger Pro, Steady Aim. Gonna replace my M9 + Tactical Knife with a rocket launcher of some sort though.

I still really dislike how you basically shoot bullets from your eyeballs. It's complete BS that you can poke an inch of your head over a camping spot and pick everybody off.

Overall, I like the COD4 maps better since these are too camper friendly. But when a legit match comes along, the game is extremely fun and addicting. Lots to do/unlock. :)

What are you guys' NAT's like Spookie? One of my friends who had just a moderate NAT was killing his ability to get into games.

Had a mate update his ports, restart steam, all sorts of dicking about. Hopefully it'll work tomorrow I can't be arsed with all that again. :(

He's on the same ISP as me so I'm hoping it's just his router ports anyway. :|

I can't agree with that, yes all of the maps you can camp in but almost every spot (hi terminal) a well thrown nade will kill you or you're left open to be flanked. We had a match on Skidrow where the scores in the end were going through the roof due to the amount of grenades getting hoofed about. It was like an explosion in a Pi?ata factory. You couldn't see for a FB or Stun going through a window followed by a semtex or cooked frag!:DD

People just need to evolve to use their inventory to their full advantage and the games will pick up the pace.:))

Turn on DMZ

I think the amount of Camping is getting worse,

Was playing last night and actually did really well for a change, had Bing, Cold Blood and Ninja (+silent footsteps) with Sniper Rifel (silenced/heartbeat monitor) and .44 (tack knife/FMJ),

Basically i ran around stabbing and shooting all the campers :)

I'm well versed in the history, but thanks anyways. If they were going to give it that much recoil, why not have it as a starter weapon then?

Because they get a good laugh out of the "Achievement Kiddies" who strive to unlock it then are to blind to realize they have been nerfed.

Right...

My question applies to the F2000 as well. Why have that and the AK47 be the last two guns you unlock when they are just that horrible? When the Scar is so could, they definitely should have moved that to a higher level unlock and moved the AK/F2000 down.

I think it promotes Prestige. In COD4 when you Prestige you lost allot more than you gained. Now, with many good weapons up front, more Prestige achievements (meaning more points) I have more of a reason to do it. This of course is just IMHO.

Does this game have some sort of aim assist on the PC?

Normally I cant shoot for crap with pistols but i was trying to get tactical knife for the m9 and it felt like when i was shooting it was centering the crosshairs on the enemy rocking headshots every other kill.

Wait, you don't lose unlocked weapons when you enter prestige mode? I was under the impression that you did, until the other day some shotgun-###### went prestige, me and my friend said to each other "Oh phew, at least he won't have access to that shotgun anymore" and next round he shot my friend with it  No akimbo though ( Guessing only challenges reset? )

On another note, I just ordered the Moderen Warfare 2 Controller, in Black - Never though I'd see the day where I would order anything made by Mad Catz but I really want to try it plus it looks sweet - I'm a sucker for camo :p

Not that I know of, I definitely didn't feel anything back when I played the PC version.

You dont automatically prestige, you have to select it back at the main menu and you lose all unlocks apart from titles and emblems.

Yes, I know, I did play MW1 and went prestige quite a few times thank you :p Back then you lost EVERYTHING but I still haven't seen a single word mentioned about the fact you keep weapons or what else you get by going prestige.

Nope, I think you're just leading shots uncontentiously. :)

IW you ****ty 2nd rate developer.

Just had a game hosted by a cheat. Now you'd think: "Oh get aimbotted a lot?" Aye I did. But that's not it. Using the official matchmaking system I joined a game with infinite ammo and low grav.

I wish I was joking.

Aside from all the hate that I feel for this game because of most of the issues discussed here I still find time to play it overlooking all these flaws because hey a lot of friends play it and they themselves make it a whole bunch of fun but when that gets taken away from you because of gargantuan lag and server/host failures every other 10 mins this game becomes utterly useless. I tried consistently for 2 straight hours to get a good game and thats all I got. 1 good round out of 2 hours of play. This is now beyond pathetic and I regret paying for this game because it ultimately fails in multiplayer. /rant

    • Qualcomm takes on NVIDIA with new Dragonfly CPU and AI chips by Pradeep Viswanathan Microsoft, Google, Amazon, AMD, Meta, Apple, OpenAI, and several others have been developing their own chips for AI infrastructure. However, NVIDIA still remains the dominant player in the market. Today, Qualcomm announced a major expansion of its data center infrastructure portfolio to better compete with NVIDIA. The new lineup includes the Qualcomm Dragonfly C1000 CPU, Qualcomm High Bandwidth Compute technology, the Dragonfly AI300 inference accelerator, new connectivity products, and custom silicon solutions. Qualcomm claims that this new lineup improves performance per watt, token throughput, and total cost of ownership for AI data centers. The Dragonfly C1000 is a new data center CPU built with Qualcomm’s custom Oryon cores. This chip will feature more than 250 cores, frequencies above 5GHz, and a chiplet-based design. Qualcomm claims that this new C1000 can deliver more than 2x better performance per watt compared to existing server CPU offerings based on specifications. The Dragonfly C1000 will support PCIe Gen 7 with more than 2TB/s of connectivity, along with CXL, advanced RAS features, and both air and liquid cooling. Qualcomm expects the Dragonfly C1000 to be commercially available in 2028. Additionally, Qualcomm and Meta announced a multi-year, multi-generation agreement under which Qualcomm will supply Dragonfly C1000 data center CPUs for Meta’s next-generation server fleet. Qualcomm also announced High Bandwidth Compute, a new near-memory computing architecture designed to address AI’s memory bandwidth bottleneck. HBC Gen 1 will debut with the Dragonfly AI250, which is expected to sample in mid-2027. The AI250 will deliver 133TB/s per card, an 18x increase in effective memory bandwidth compared to the AI200 with LPDDR5X. The new Dragonfly AI300 with HBC Gen 2 is a rack-level AI inference platform from Qualcomm. Qualcomm claims that the AI300 can deliver 4x to 8x better performance per watt compared to existing GPU-based architectures based on memory bandwidth per watt per card. The Dragonfly AI300 is expected to be available in 2028.
    • IBM reveals sub-1nm chip technology, production expected in another 5 years by Pradeep Viswanathan TSMC is now leading the chip manufacturing industry with its 2nm-class process node called N2. Samsung Foundry also has a 2nm-class process node called SF2. TSMC says N2 entered volume production in Q4 2025. Samsung says SF2 started mass production in 2025. Today, IBM announced the world’s first sub-1-nanometer chip technology, marking another major semiconductor research milestone. The new technology is based on a 0.7nm, or 7-angstrom, node and uses a new transistor architecture called “nanostack.” The new design vertically stacks and staggers nanosheet-based transistors so that more components can fit into the same chip area while also improving performance and power efficiency. IBM claims that this new sub-1nm chip can pack nearly 100 billion transistors onto a chip the size of a fingernail. This offers almost twice the density, up to 50 percent higher performance, or 70 percent better energy efficiency when compared to IBM's 2nm node design announced back in 2021. Also, IBM mentioned that this new architecture can deliver 40 percent SRAM scaling. It is important to consider that this announcement from IBM is a research milestone rather than a near-term process node launch. Back in 2021, IBM unveiled the world’s first 2nm chip design, claiming 50 billion transistors on a fingernail-sized chip and major performance and efficiency gains. Five years later, IBM’s 2nm technology has still not entered mainstream commercial production. That is because IBM is no longer a major commercial chip manufacturer. It sold its chip manufacturing business to GlobalFoundries years ago and has since then focused only on semiconductor research, IP development, and partnerships. To productize its 2-nm chip technology, IBM partnered with Japan’s Rapidus, but it has not resulted in anything shipping at scale. IBM says that its new sub-1nm technology can reach production as early as within the next five years. If that happens, it will likely depend on manufacturing partners, advanced EUV tooling, and years of yield improvements.
