[Official] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Got 33-4 on High Rise today, was pretty chuffed because the other team were just camping whenever possible and I got the predator/harrier/pave low twice so it pretty much won it for the team! We were about 3k behind and suddenly just whupped! I love it when Pave Low sorts out the campers (Y)

I love coming across riot shielders that forget to toss up blast shield. Gives me more sticky kills. I carry an AT4 though too so majority of the time I'll just hit them with that.

Although.. there are the few rare occasions when that awesome AT4 seems to bounce off the shield and back at me.. :(

I totally forgot about stickies. I'll have to give that a try next time. The guy I was playing against kept getting right in my face (going for a melee kill), and I didn't know what to do, apart from pray that a teammate comes in from behind and saves me. And this was on Favela, so we were pretty much always close to each other when we met.

Yeah I almost always use a semtex versus a frag. Works out perfect for those riot shields. Although, if they have on blast shield, it'll take more than just that since they'll eat up that semtex!

Microsoft clarifies Mod War 2 DLC deal News

Microsoft has revealed just how much of a headstart Xbox 360 owners will have with the new downloadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

"We have a 30-day timed exclusive on the Modern Warfare content packs," a spokesperson told Eurogamer. "So it will be available on other platforms, but you get to try and play on Xbox 360 first."

The exclusivity deal was first announced at E3 last year. Back then John Schappert said it covered the first two map packs for Mod War 2.

The DLC is due to be released this spring but an exact date has yet to be locked down.

Wonder how much was paid for 30 days. :p

I finally ran into one of those marathon+lightweight+care package guys last night. He was moving pretty damn fast, but he actually wasn't playing that well at all. I checked on his score once during the match and he was 10-15. Granted, we were playing on Scrapyard, so there's a decent amount of open space between him and his potential victims. Makes stopping him pretty easy.

Earlier that night, I ran into a guy with the riot shield, and that was far more annoying...

annoying guys. all they do is knife or akimbo shotgun..

though i love it when i kill them multiple times cause there raging and are irrational.

****, i wanna punch Robert Bowling in his annoying face. Since last patch its taking ages to find a game that you can actually connect to, every second game just ends up with connection lost. Also crashing every 20 mins or so on map load. Untill few days ago it was "ok", bearable, but now its just infuriating, to say the least. Tools.

Are you playing on PC, PS3, or 360?

Sounds like PC, where IWnet is completely f'd up. Hosts have been randomly crashing since the last patch so most games time out. And even before the crappy last patch iwnet has been horribly glitchy, with game lobbies randomly closing, not being able to join friends lobbies 70% of the time because it spits random nonsensical errors or just doesn't work.

IWnet is seriously the glitchiest, most obviously untested piece of software I have ever used.

Ouch, that really sucks :\ I don't doubt that it's probably the worst ever.. Considering how sloppy their site launch was I can only imagine how half-assed IWnet is.

I probably would have stopped playing if I had to deal with those issues. It's already bad enough in matchmaking when you're waiting 10+ minutes to find a match (in ground war, on Xbox 360.) I lose my patience then or when we're constantly having to back out because we dropped a player or the room we got into is ****ed up (when all mic icons are missing.)

Any strict NAT's? The only time it ever took more than 20 seconds to get into a game was when I was trying to buddy up with a UK friend (and two of his UK buddies) and since I'm from the US, it took about 3-4 minutes to find a suitable server (plus they all had strict NAT's).

All eight of us (including myself) have open NAT aside from one that has moderate to strict NAT. Even then the strict rarely plays with us and we still have the occurrence of party dropping or going into a bad room without him. (edit: He never has party lead anyway, it's always my boyfriend who has party lead with open NAT and typically pulls host out of the majority of us who live within ~20 miles of each other. Then again he did perfect his settings with his modem/router anyway, <3 my nerd.)

Wow that sucks. The only time we ever have a problem where somebody gets kicked from our party is when I try to play with my friend who has a strict NAT. I have had games tell me my NAT is open when it clearly isn't though, so I went through my modem and router and promptly cleaned it up to make 100% mines open.

Ah I love MW2! Faced some guys that were talking some pretty heavy smack. I noticed pretty quickly that one of two guys that were talking smack was on our team (which was weird). After he was 0 and 5 I knew he was boosting. Somebody on our team followed him the entire match and the guy he was boosting still ended up getting over 30 kills which is sad because our team beat them hard. We always had somebody with a Stinger taking out any killstreaks so it was pretty hilarious to watch them try to boost.

My nat is open and I correctly forwarded all my ports for this game and it STILL doesn't work right. And the host selection is crap, everyone always has horrible ping and it selects the worst possible host. I NEVER get host even though I have a fast computer and fast cable internet, the only way I can get host is by using the trick to make iwnet make you host, and when I am host no one lags. Yet it still picks these terrible hosts for everyone all the time, its ridiculous.

    • AltSendme 0.4.1 by Razvan Serea AltSendme is a minimal, cross-platform application designed for fast, secure, and private peer-to-peer file transfers. It allows users to send files or entire directories directly between devices without relying on cloud servers, accounts, or any personal information. Everything is encrypted end-to-end using modern protocols like QUIC and TLS 1.3, ensuring both strong security and low-latency performance. Transfers are verified with BLAKE3 for data integrity, and interrupted downloads automatically resume, making the experience reliable even on unstable connections. You can transfer anything—images, videos, documents, and more. Integrity checks are performed on both ends, so your files are automatically verified for correctness during both sending and receiving. AltSendme works seamlessly across local networks or long-distance links, capable of saturating multi-gigabit connections for extremely fast delivery. With built-in NAT traversal and encrypted relay fallback, it connects devices almost anywhere. The app integrates with the Sendme CLI and will soon support mobile and web platforms. Fully free and open-source, AltSendme offers a lightweight, privacy-first alternative to traditional cloud-based services, removing size limits, upload costs, and unnecessary data exposure. AltSendme 0.4.1 changelog: Release Highlights Self-hosted relays: Run your own iroh relay so transfers don't rely on public infrastructure. Includes a full deployment template in deploy/relay/ with Docker Compose for a VPS and configuration examples for production use. Fly.io support: One-click deploy template for Fly.io, including a quick-start config (fly.dev.toml) for testing without a custom domain, plus production setup with Let's Encrypt and your own hostname. Relay settings UI: New Settings → Network panel to choose how AltSendme connects: automatic public relays, custom self-hosted URLs (with optional auth token), or disabled. Test connections, verify latency, and see live relay status in the footer. Disable relays: Turn off relay servers entirely when you only need same-network transfers (e.g. LAN). Direct connections only. No relay hop required when devices can reach each other. Android graduates from beta: Android is now part of the regular release cycle alongside desktop. APKs ship with each version (universal, arm64, and armv7). • You are mostly right about the ephemeral nature of it. As I mention in the article, if you dont add a second device or take a backup of your account before uninstalling it, then yes you will lose access to your account. That said, in terms of actual user experience when you sync multiple devices your message history carries across and there's also a Saved Messages chat like there is on Telegram to send messages and attachments between your installs. But yh, what you point out are correct and its not trying to emulate Messenger or Telegram.
    • OK so SearXNG is a meta search engine that you can install locally or use via a public instance. It scrapes other search engines which you choose and then sorts the results. Not as complicated as multiple relays
