The Walking Dead (Season 2)

Recommended Posts

I read the first few and they were awesome

I've read the first book and it won't spoil much as the show deviates ALOT from the comic, and seems to go in a whole other direction. It's certainly nothing amazing, the writing can be rough and corny at times, but it's decent enough.

Ok so I hit the bullet and ordered The Walking Dead: Compendium One [Paperback] from Amazon, this will be the second graphic novel I read in my life, hopefully I will enjoy it, I'll not read the entire thing so I don't spoil it for myself :D , does anyone know if this version contains the FULL story or is there even more? this is supposed to contain issues 1 through 48 of the graphic novel.

This Walking Dead "Compendium" is a compilation of Volumes 1 through 8 (or call it Books 1 through 4, or call it issues 1 through 48)

:D

What the hell? Walking Dead Writing Staff Let Go

Why the hell would they do this? This show is one of the best on TV right now.

edit: sorry, already posted a page back. This just kind of shocked me when I saw it this morning.

Yeah its quite a surprise

Shame Frank Darabont cant write and direct all episodes, the best episode by far is the first directed and written by Darabont and the 2nd was written by Frank Darabont, oddly enough the 3rd episode had 5 writers and was boring. :shiftyninja:

So is that the one to get to get the full story? I might pick it up.

There are currently 78 issues, possibly 79 now with the new month. One little iota of note, these aren't graphic novels. Ok sorry done now.

I think the pacing is way off from the comic and it's pretty hard to say for sure how/when the cut off will be for seasons.

Not really, the writing is nothing spectacular and they've done a poor job of developing characters.

wow so there's a lot more than just Compendium One, I have been browsing around at the Barnes & Noble website and it looks that if I want to get the follow up to Compendium One then I would have to get either Book Five or Volume 9 - Here We Remain right? Book Five being the best choice IMHO...

That is 49-78 for $63

I'm sure if you add up total cost of the volumes or books it will be close to the same cost.

Does anyone think Merle dropped off the zombies at the camp site (intentionally)?

(Was it possible to with the van? did it have an opening into the cab from the storage part?)

No; they said in the show the zombies were starting to wonder away from the city now that all their foods gone.

I think Merle will end up becoming a particular character later on in the book and I'm really hoping that isn't the case.

Check out This in YouTube, I was trying to embed the video here, but I have no idea why it won't allow me to embed it, Also I found what appears to be the official site of the Graphic Novel: The Walking Dead Be aware the site spoils the TV show a little specially the Cast area :D

Thanks! I'll keep that one in mind, it does look like a good deal, I rather have all in one book than buying all these different smaller books separately, One question: It looks like all the books are black and white, does anyonbody know if they were ever made in color?

No.

If you read the letters at the end of each release he gives some insight into the series, they're a lot of fun. One of them was someone asking if he would ever do color or at least on milestone issues like #100 and he said no.

Fear not, 'Walking Dead' fans. Reports of the writing staff's demise earlier this week may have been exaggerated.

Executive producer Robert Kirkman, upon whose comic books the zombie drama is based, has spoken out about this week's news that showrunner Frank Darabont had apparently fired the entire writing staff..

Kirkman told tvguide.com that this week's report in deadline.com was "premature," and said "It's kind of unfortunate that it's being reported that our writing staff has been fired because that's not the case. ... It makes Frank look bad. I don't think Frank wants it out there that he's just firing people off of a successful show."

According to Kirkman, what really happened was that Darabont's "go-to guy," executive producer and writer Charles "Chic" Eglee ('Dexter,' 'Dark Angel') chose to leave the series after Darabont decided to stay on for Season 2. The original deal had been that Darabont would be showrunner for Season 1 and then move on, leaving room for Eglee to take over.

When Darabont changed his mind, however, and decided to stay put, Eglee quit. "Chic Eglee is a high-level television writer. He was brought onto 'The Walking Dead' with the idea that Frank was going to work on the first season and then go off and do movies," Kirkman says. "Chic didn't want to be second-in-command on a show when he's used to being a top dog, and so he decided to go off and do something else, which is something that happens and is not a big deal."

Kirkman says he's excited to continue working with Darabont, and credits him with creating a unique vision for the show. But what about reports that 'The Walking Dead' would be hiring-in freelance writers for Season 2? All Kirkman will say for now is that it's too soon to tell.

"It's a little premature to be nailing down. I don't know if it's going to be a freelance situation or if we're going to have writers in a writers' room," he said. "That's something that's being worked on now."

    • Given only Volume license customers and specific resellers can obtain the LTSC versions legitimately it seems likely that this has been tinkered with quite a lot!
