The Walking Dead (Season 2)

WHAT THE FUUUUUU!

Why are they killing off the best characters of the show? First Dale then Shane?... WHY...WHY?! I don't know who to like anymore.. Rick is okay.. and So is Glenn but the rest.. like the girl who just sleeps in bed?... COME ON!

This show is good, really good.. but I am going to Miss Dale and Shane.

They intended (just like in Volume 1 of the comic) to kill Shane off in Season 1 if it was a 13 episode run, but because it was only 6 episodes they pushed it to Season 2.

I probably will miss Dale, I did not care all that much for Shane so, to me at least, he won't be as missed. I hope they won't kill off Daryl since he is one of my favs.

Same here, I was waiting for Shane to Die, I was getting tired of him. I also agree with Daryl being a favorite, as he is definitely mine.

Those two police officers that they found weren't scratched.

What they said to each other was pretty much "I can't find a mark on them, why did they turn?", "Maybe there's a scratch somewhere? There must be one under the clothes", "Yea, that must be it."

There has also been times when they have asked, like the black guy at the first part that meats Rick, " Are you bit or scratched?" Which implies that injuries obtained from a zombie bring it about.

It makes sense though, if it is a virus that is just dormant in living things, and active in zombies. That way, it only takes a zombie to get the active virus in you for you to start to turn. If you don't get the active virus, you just live normally, until you die and turn.

are they ever going to explain where this zombie virus came from? im thinking it was man made but id love an explaination someday. im not buying this act of god crap.

sucks after sunday we have to wait until october for new episodes.

There's no virus. For some reason, dying makes you turn into a zombie. When a zombie bites or scratches you, you're infected with a disease that kills you. The disease itself isn't what turns you into a zombie. If someone were to die of natural causes in The Walking Dead, they'd turn into a zombie. That's why Shane turned into one after he was stabbed by Rick. The only way to prevent someone from turning into a zombie is to damage their brain.

Remember when the group went to the CDC? They found a scientist that was trying to find a cure. We learn that something happens in the brain. Brain tissue that's supposed to stay dead is somehow reanimated. Apparently, it's only just enough to give zombies a desire to eat as well as a sense of sight, smell, and hearing.

I haven't read the comics so I don't know if they'll ever find a cure so if anyone knows the answer, please use spoiler tags (unless it's revealed in an episode that already aired).

I always saw being bit or scratched by a zombie the same as being bitten by a komodo dragon. It just kills you, then you turn because you're dead. It doesn't turn you before that.

I guess someone has read the comics and knows why that happens though? Please post in spoilers!

What a great episode. I'm surprised it wasn't the seasons finale.

In the comics...

... so far, the characters don't know the cause of the outbreak. In issue #15 (maybe #14) they realize that being bit or scratched by a zombie doesn't turn you, it just kills you. Everybody turns when they die, no matter what the cause of death is unless the brain is injured. This leads Ricks to declare that the living are, "The Walking Dead."

of course it's some sort of infection "virus" or a man made contagion, it has to be. im sure it will be explained eventually in the show or the comics.

I don't think it's a virus or disease at all. It doesn't make sense because anyone that dies in The Walking Dead will turn into a zombie, regardless of how they died. The only exception is trauma to the brain which prevents someone from turning into a zombie. I believe it has something to do with the human brain and it's something that only affects humans.

But it has to be something. You don't just turn into a zombie after you die.

Dude come on its not a natural thing. It started happening out of no where one day. Of course its a virus. Every zombie movie stemmed from some sort of contagion or virus. It just doesnt happen for no reason. The show will eventually need to explain where it came from. Im shocked it hasnt been touched on more yet. If they dont explain it the show will get just silly.

Thats like someone who turns into a vampire or werewolf. Its kind of a viral infection not a natural thing or act of god.

I agree. It doesn't make sense for someone to turn into a zombie simply by dying. There has to be a cause for it.

I didn't say it was something natural. What I'm saying is that it has something to do with the human brain (which was revealed towards the end of season 1). I don't think it's a virus and at this point, there's no evidence to support that one exists. And by virus, I mean an infective agent that reanimates dead tissue. I'm open to the possibility of an airborne virus so I'm not completely ruling it out anymore. I am, however, more open to the possibility of genetic engineering gone wrong on a global scale. Maybe some scientist or group of scientists tried to find the key to immortality and in their haste, released it to the world. Another possibility is a chemical agent that messes with our DNA enough to prevent certain cells (like brain cells) from dying. After all, we know that the zombies aren't 100% dead. Part of their brain is still alive and it's the primitive part which explains their behaviour.

This was announced a while ago, but I didn't see anyone post it.

David Morrissey will join the zombie drama as the famed comic's evil villain in a major season three role.

THE GOVERNOR!

Does the comic books ever explain what happened? What the origin of the infection is?

I was thinking that maybe everyone is infected already now. Like the disease went air born, but they're immune to it while they're alive. But when they die, they're immune system dies with them and their brain can then be infected?

Well, that's been almost every post in the last two pages....

Although I read the first few issues when the show first started, I actually just started reading the entire series as I picked up Compendium 01 for $34 from Amazon.

I knew the show deviated from the comic, but wow, does it really deviate from the comic. Truly loving the comic so much more than the TV show. I almost wish I never started reading the comic as it is that much better IMO. If anyone likes the show and has not read the comics, I highly recommend doing so.

It's always the same, the book / comic are always better than the TV series / film.

True Blood, Walking Dead, The Cape (:D), Spiderman, Superman, LOTRO (even though the films were amazing, the book is still far superior) etc etc etc.

I can only really think of the Batman films that have been more interesting to me than the comics.

What was THAT at the end? It was a meh Finale. Last week was better imo.

It could have been episode 01 of next season, as that is really what it was, a prep for next season.

crazy awesome finale!

want to know what the hell that was that saved Andrea, must have something to do with the fort in the woods

Love the fact they introduced "it" (I know what it is, but I will not say anything). "It" is from the comic, and I have to say it looks like the show is doing its best to get back on track with the comic, as it really, really did deviate from the overall story of the comic.

Just going to be so damn long waiting for Season 03.

^ AH ok. I really need to check out the comics.

Yeah, I highly recommend doing so.

The only negative that has come out of it for me is I do believe, as always is the case and as Wakers pointed out above, the comic is much better than the TV show, at least IMO. So it is kind of easy to get frustrated with the show at times since it does deviate so much, but I just have come to accept the show is based off the comic, does not follow it. So keeping that in mind, I absolutely appreciate them both.

Ill have to check out the comics again. I stopped because I didn't want the deviations to ruin things for me

Yeah see above, I literally use the word deviate without even seeing your reply. It is a little hard not to get caught up in the deviations, but it is still a great show.
